Knights of Minas Tirith Repairs

Several years ago, I tilted a box full of painted minis, and naturally some damage occurred.

Not until this past week I had the stomach for trying to mend this one-point-of-base-contact horse which broke its left hind leg just above the hoof at that occasion, but with my new Citadel Assembly Handle, I finally dared try my luck at this daunting task.

As you can see, it actually worked, much to my delight, as I had feared having to try pinning it - but as it turned out the Poly Cement seems sufficient, given the time to cure properly.

The other knight (bottom picture) was easily mended, as it was just a question of gluing the rider back in the saddle. He is a conversion using a plastic Warrior of Minas Tirith and a metal Knight, btw.

They are now both ready for when we need them in games of Age of Fantasy (the 250 points. list I have prepared for Emil's use Thursday includes one).

More Cavalry Bases WIP

Took time to glue washers to four more Sarissa pill shaped 1mm greyboard bases today. With these, I now have nine ready, which is enough for a Warord and two points of Hearthguards, or one point of Warriors for SAGA/AFS.

When my Greek archers are done, I shall be working on some Rohan Riders for a SAGA/A Fantastic SAGA warband that is also going to grow into a God of Battles Thousand Tribes army over time (actually, I may have a 24 points army when I have a unit of riders (Horse Tribe) ready, but I have not none the math, yet).

Of course, they may also be used for other purposes, such as Sellswords & Spellslingers, Song of Blades and Heroes, Of Gods And Mortals, etc....

Sarissa Precision: Pill Bases

I just received a bunch of laser-cut 50mm x 25mm pill shaped 1mm thick greyboard bases that I intend to use for basing cavalry; two 25mm washers fit exactly under one of these, and thus I can get the same magnetic properties in cavalry bases as when using washers for other models.

I promptly glued some washers on to try out the concept. The first models I am going to base this way will be some Riders of Rohan - I have wanted to make a proxy Norman SAGA warband using them for quite some time, and as Victrix are not likely to bring out plastic Norman cavalry within the next couple of years, I may as well start this project.

Napoleonics: French 1er Hussards Trooper

I painted this for the Alliance of the Big Battalions Artistry on LAF (posted it earlier today), and I speeded up the process on this single mini to get it done for the Painting Club, so the rest of the unit will follow later (right now I have to get Lea's SS&SS party on tracks).

The basing is an experiment; I glue two 20mm washers under the integral base to add weight, and possibly use magnetic storage, like for my 28mm stuff.

I do not shade and highlight when painting 1:72 minis, as I only play massed battles in this scale, and it is all about recognizable units, and not individual warriors.
