November Output

November was fairly productive, even a few more models finished than the previous month.

4 Skeleton Archers painted, one Leader rebased.

3 Skeleton Catapult Crewmen painted-

5 Revenants/Skeleton Guards painted.

2 Small Tents painted.

1 Mines of Moria Aragorn painted

4 Mines of Moria columns/pillars painted-

1 Warhammer Quest Barbarian painted.

2 Gravestones painted.

1 Mines of Moria Peregrin Took painted.

2 Middle-Earth Rangers painted.

2 more Gravestones painted.

Another 2 Gravestones painted.

Yet another 2 Gravestones painted

1 old Metal Magic Rogue rebased and repainted/paint repaired-

Yet another 2 Gravestones painted.

1 Mines of Moria Meriadoc Brandybuck painted.

1 Ranger of Ithilien rebased and repainted/paint repaired.

If I have counted correctly, I painted 35 models and rebased and repainted/paint repaired 2 old models in November.

That's OK, I think. December will see a lower count, as I have a lot of iconic pop culture characters and other nice stuff lined up in the pain(t) queue, and they will need more attention than some of the rank.and-file I did in November.

Old Mini, New Life

Something a bit different today, but I am following all my whims at the time being.

I haven been doing some work on this old fella over time. He was block painted many years ago for a D&D character I was GM'ing for back then (apart form the skin which was patially shaded and highlighted).

He has been given a new base (surprise!), and then a wash with Agrax Earthshade on his clothing and gear (apart from the lantern and the knife).

His hair was a stark yellow colour, so I have repainted it with a more natural hue (I hope).

Finally, I have given him eyes.
I have taken som pics from different angles; I am quite pleased with the effect of the shading.
From the back. Nothing to complain about, here.
I used to be able to arrange up to three small pics aside, but Blogger must have changed something - it seems impossible to line up pics these days.

The Halloween Display

Most of last week and all of the weekend, our living room, hallway, and conservatory (used as main entrance) has been decorated for Halloween (our daughters both had several parties to attend, and some of the friends of the oldest one were coming here to prepare).

When entering the conservatory, this was the sight that met the eye:

Our living room (that dark thing in the corner of the first pic is a clàrsach).

On the sideboard, I had placed a lot of my horror-related painted minis:

A lot of those headstones were painted tyhe last week, and I shall take a separate photo with those for my 'October Output Post' one of the next days.

Some More WIP Stuff...

I am rebasing some minis I painted a very long time ago (hence the dubious paintjobs on some of them) for various purposes, as I now want to use them for Sellswords & Spellslingers.

The Heresy Vampire below has lived a haunted life - first he lost his head, and then, recently he had a metal bear fall on him, damaging the paint on his left sleeve, so in addition to finishing his new base I have to reconstruct the paintjob...

This bunch is waiting for a black undercoat, but I am not going spray them, until I have finished painting that blasted female Barbarian for Lea's Sellswords & Spellslingers party!

With my current mojo and speed, I shall probably not paint more than one or two minis before 2019 - unless I focus on models I can speed-paint with block'n'wash or drybrushes. December is a bitch to get through when working every second weekend, and still having kids around, methinks...

Rebasing Some LotR metal - and Then Some!

I have decided that it is about time that I get washer bases on all my painted metal LotR minis, so that they will not shuffle around in the boxes I use for storing them. A few other minis will tag along for the ride, so as to be ready for appearing on the table.

I may not finish all the bases right away, but I shall strive to get all the metal minis glued to a washer, so that they will adhere to the magnetic sheets in the storage boxes.

SS&SS: Lea's Party so Far

I am getting the hang of my new Canon - found the White Balance settings, which meant an instant enhancement of photo quality!

This is Elfham and Sigga, ready to go adventuring as soon as Tinre, the Barbarian Shieldmaiden, joins them.

I am not going to finish the Barbarian until the LAF OSFPP has come to a conclusion, but in the meantime I am working on a few other very old pieces of lead to use in Sellswords & Spellslingers as well!

LAF Old School Fantasy Painting Party: Female Ranger

Another Painting Club is running at the Lead Adventure Forum at the moment, the theme is fantasy metal minis from the last millennium, and as I had to get some minis painted for Lea's Sellswords & Spellslingers party, as well as some objective characters and opponents for one of the scenarios, the theme is right up my alley!

I started by finishing the female Ranger Elfham, an old Metal Magic mini I have had for ages.

I struggled with motivation for this mini, and the Painting Club was just what I needed to get her done!

The last member of Lea's party is Tinre, a scantily clad Barbarian Warrior, incarnated by Mark Copplestone's Barbarian Queen, which is from 2007 or so, and thus has to wait until the current Painting Club is finished - as far as I understand, another Painting Club focusing on minis from 2000 and up is planned for when the OSFPP is completed, so I shall have plenty opportunity to get her done rather soonish.

For now, I focus on painting old minis usable for Sellswords & Spellslingers-and then we shall see about the rest...

SS&SS: Painting Lea's Party WIP

I have begun covering Tinre and Sigga with paint. Lea has had some saying regarding the colours, especially for her 'alter ego', the spellcasting Sigga. I fear thet I've started the cloak a bit too light, though, I shall have to ask Lea what she thinks...

Sellswords and Spellslingers: Progress on Lea's Party

Tinre, Elfham, and Sigga, now are ready to be painted. Tinre and Sigga were primed alongside the Sharpe's Rifles models and the demon, all three were glued to cork handles, and left to let the glue settle completely before being handled again.

Sellswords and Spellslingers: Potentially Anna's Party.

I am not quite sure, yet, if Anna can be tempted by SS&SS, but never the less I have begun picking some minis that might be acceptable to her. For now, this is a side project, as I have plenty work to do on Lea's party, the Argonauts warband, Sharpe's Rifles, and my own party.

Sellswords and Spellslingers: Working on Lea's Party

I have cleaned the barbarian, done some basing work on both the companions. The glue on the barbarian is not stable; I think I shall have to get some superglue tomorrow (being unused for most of a year my last bottle has dried up completely).

Sellswords and Spellslingers: Preparing a Party for Lea

Lea has expressed interest in playing SS&SS with me, so I have dug out these three all-female minis for her first party (never mind the Greeks).

The 'Barbarian Queen' will get a proper washer base when I have cleaned her up.

We have not fleshed out the characters, yet, maybe we shall have time for that this coming weekend.

I think I should get the 'dynamic' version of that mage, somewhen, but it will have to wait until I have to get some other stuff from Hasslefree.

GoB: Argonor's Army of Darkness

As promised, here is a presentation of my entire God of Battles Lords of Undeath army. I finished the bases on the four command models earlier today (and have already begun painting some Vikings), which brings my infantry up to a solid 36 points.

Note: There is two models too many in two of the Ghoul units in these pictures (and one unit too few) - I had to pick up Anna from school in the midst of setting up, and forgot to adjust before taking the photos.

My Command and Support:

Necromancer: 14 points
Blacksoul: 8 points
Undead War Hounds: 2 points

Skeleton Chariot: 12 points
Skeleton Chariot: 12 points

Command and Support Total: 48 points

Main Force Units:

Undead Knights: 12 points

Skeleton Warriors: 8 points

Skeleton Warriors: 8 points
Skeleton Horde: 5 points

Skeleton Horde: 5 points

Skeleton Horde: 5 points

Skeleton Horde: 5 points
Ghouls: 3 points

Ghouls: 3 points

Ghouls: 3 points

Ghouls: 3 points
Main Force Total: 60 Points

Of course, I shall rarely field my entire collection of Main Force units (4 units of Ghouls really is a bit too much rabble), but I actually do have another not quite assembled Skeleton Chariot to quickly bring my Command and Support up to strength with the Main Force list, should the need arise.
