1939 Frazer Nash/BMW 328 Sports and Touring Two-Seater -- March 31, 2018
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.
BMW built the 328 from 1936 to 1940. One of the few chassis to survive the war was imported into Britain by AFN, which created an aerodynamic body.

1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale -- January 29, 2018
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.
The 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale had a body by Carrozzeria Alfredo Vignale. "Inter" indicated that the car was meant primarily for road use rather than racing.

1961 Aston Martin DB4GT Coupe -- December 21, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.
The 1961 Aston Martin DB4GT Coupe was an experimental car known as "The Father of Lightweights." During a test it ran at 152.5 mph. "DB" stood for David Brown, the tractor manufacturer who had purchased Aston Martin and Lagonda. (051/dsc_0172)

1955 Alfa Romeo Model 1900 SS, Zagato (SSZ) -- November 27, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.
The 1955 Alfa Romeo Model 1900 SS, Zagato (SSZ) had a lightweight body from coachbuilder Zagato. SS stood for Super Sprint. I like the front end.

1961 Jaguar/Cunningham XK-E Factory Lightweight Race Car -- October 19, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.
The Jaguar/Cunningham XK-E Factory Lightweight Race Car was owned by American rich guy and race car builder Briggs Cunningham. It ran in the 1963 Le Mans, but dropped out early because of mechanical issues. (051/dsc_0156)

1956 Ferrari 625 Le Mans Spyder -- September 29, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.The 1956 Ferrari 625 Le Mans Spyder (roadster), one of only three built, was intended to compete at Le Mans. It did not finish because of transmission problems.

Backup catcher Nick Hundley won the Willie Mac Award. Good choice.
The World Series MVP award will be named after Willie Mays. Also a good choice.

1929 Minerva Type AM "Clear Vision" Convertible Sedan -- August 31, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. Minerva was a Belgian manufacturer which used Charles Knight's sleeve-valve patents to build smooth, silent engines. Coachbuilder the Walter Murphy Company devised the Clear Vision concept, claiming that the narrow pillars would not obstruct a driver's vision. Murphy designed the body and roof to appear low.

1936 Auburn Model 852 Cabriolet -- July 13, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. This 1936 Auburn Model 852 supercharged Cabriolet has a body by Parisian coachbuilder Jean Henri Labourdette. Maurice Chevalier owned it at one time.

We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. This 1931 Packard Model 745 Convertible Sedan has a body designed by Ray Detrich. It has a 1145 inch wheelbase.

1939 Packard Model 120 Darrin Convertible Victoria -- May 15, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. Dutch Darrin designed the Convertible Victoria for actor Preston Foster. Foster had the front end updated in 1941. (051/dsc_0132-133)

We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. WO Bentley designed the beautiful 1939 Lagonda Rapide V-12 Drophead Coupe and its powerful 4,480 cc engine.

1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen -- March 13, 2017
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.They hosted a working reproduction of the 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen, the first automobile available for sale. Karl Benz and his associates in Mannheim built the tricycle with a four-stroke, one-cylinder gasolene engine. It has a single speed transmission with no reverse gear.
Karl's wife Bertha drove the car 106km to visit her mother, demonstrating that a woman, accompanied only by two children, could operate such a vehicle. Benz sold about 25 Motorwagens. Later models had reverse gears.
Single cylinder engines need large flywheels.

We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. The 1959 Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 9 (Berlinetta Aerodynamica Technica). The B.A.T. 9, an aerodynamic concept car, premiered at the 1955 Turino Auto Show. It was designed and built by Franco Scaglione. It was built on the chassis of the popular Alfa Romeo 1900. Despite the number 9, it was the third of the B.A.T. series. There are more to come. (051/dsc_0118-0119)

1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental, Pillar-less Saloon -- October 13, 2016
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. This 1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Pillar-less Saloon has a body designed for the exiled Prince of Nepal by the French firm of Figoni and Falaschi. Figoni and Falaschi usually created coachwork for sports cars.
According to the description, "All vertical lines were changed to a ten-degree slope toward the rear, giving the body the impression of surging power and creating a visibly dynamic profile."

1926 Mercedes-Benz Model K Transformable Torpedo -- September 21, 2016
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. The 1926 Mercedes-Benz Model K Transformable Torpedo is a supercharged roadster designed by Ferdinand Porsche. The coachworkd of this example is by Jacques Seoutchik Carrosserie of Paris. It is called a transformable torpedo because the top disappears behind the rear seat.

1937 Mercedes-Benz Model 540K Special Roadster -- November 27, 2015
We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos. The1937 Mercedes-Benz Model 540K Special Roadster was known for beautiful styling and high performance. The roadster body was built by the Mayfair Carriage Company in London. The car originally belonged to Nazi champagne salesman Joachim von Ribbentrop when he was ambassador to the Court of Saint James. (051/dsc_0110-0111)
