Joe Dimaggio, one of the greatest baseball players, grew up in San Francisco. One of my grandfather's younger friends played against him at North Beach Playground. I took the photo at the San Francisco Wax Museum on 04-August-2007.

Chaplin and Fields -- May 23, 2010

Charlie Chaplin and WC Fields at the at the San Francisco Wax Museum, 04-August-2007. Chaplin was the greatest comedian and director and writer and everything else in silent movies. And sound movies. WC Fields started in vaudeville as a juggler and worked his way up to the Ziegfeld Follies. His film career began in silent movies, but sound allowed him to bloom.

It was very windy and cold today.

Two comedians who were successful in both silent and sound films were Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. They have always been among my favorites.

Abbott and Costello -- March 7, 2010

Yesterday my daughter and I watched Abbott and Costello in Buck Privates. She knew about Abbott and Costello because we have done "Who's on First" together since she was very young, but this may have been the first time she saw an entire A&C movie. I took the photo at the San Francisco Wax Museum on 04-August-2007.
