The Hon. C.S. Rolls on the 20 H.P. Panhard -- June 27, 2018

Motor Car Journal, 15-March-1902
Charles Stewart Rolls was a pioneer of automobiles and aviation.  Two years after this photo was taken, he would team with Henry Rolls to found Rolls-Royce.  In 1910, Rolls was killed when his Wright Flyer crashed. Panhard et Levassor had sold their first auto in 1890.

1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental, Pillar-less Saloon -- October 13, 2016

We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.  This 1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Pillar-less Saloon has a body designed for the exiled Prince of Nepal by the French firm of Figoni and Falaschi.  Figoni and Falaschi usually created coachwork for sports cars.

According to the description, "All vertical lines were changed to a ten-degree slope toward the rear, giving the body the impression of surging power and creating a visibly dynamic profile."

1911 Rolls-Royce Model 40/50 Silver Ghost Tourer -- November 22, 2014

We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June, 2013 to drool over their collection of classic autos.  I had a large-scale Matchbox model of the 1911 Rolls-Royce Model 40/50 Silver Ghost Tourer.  The Silver Ghost, which was in production for 20 years, has always been considered one of the best cars.

You will notice that the horn bulb is missing.  (051/dsc_0083, 0085)

1930 Rolls Royce Phantom II Boattail -- July 26, 2013

We visited the Blackhawk Museum in June to drool over their collection of classic autos.  The 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Boattail is posed back-to-back with a Duesenberg boattail.  Unfortunately, the boattail of the Rolls is not visible in this shot.  London coach builders Barker and Company designed the body for the Maharajah of Rewa.

1937 Rolls Royce Phantom III -- June 15, 2013

Today we took a pre-Father's Day drive across the bay and over to Livermore to visit the new outlets.  We bought some socks for me and some other items and then had lunch.  We got in the car and drove up to the Blackhawk Museum.  There were some nice early Thunderbirds parked out front.  There was a nice variety of older cars upstairs and newer ones downstairs.

This 1937 Rolls Royce Phantom III has a body that was created after World War II, with wicker on the passenger doors. It is a little subtle for my taste. My wife wants to know if I can find one of the Ferraris for her next birthday.
