Dick Cole, The Wonder Boy carries on the fine tradition of punching fascists. On the cover of Blue Bolt Comics, he dreams of taking care of Hitler, Mussolini and either General Tojo or Emperor Hirohito.

Comic Book -- Blazing West -- February 8, 2025

mutoscope.listal.com

The Hooded Horseman rescues a lady from the path of a locomotive which is emerging from a strange looking (roofless?) tunnel. Blazing West was later renamed The Hooded Horseman. HH did not have much of a character. He seemed to have no alter ego.

Comic Book -- Joe Palooka -- January 6, 2025

coverbrowser.com

Ham Fisher created Joe Palooka, a gentlemanly boxer, for a popular comic strip. Joe became heavyweight champ and appeared in movies, radio, television and comic books. The strip ran from 1930 to 1984. I never read it because the San Francisco newspapers didn't carry it while I was reading them.

This battle, one of the Marine Corps' most famous, is more commonly called the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. If you have never heard of it, look it up.

Comic Book -- Detective Comics -- April 8 2024

listal.com

Bob Kane's The Batman made his debut in Detective Comics number 27, from May, 1939. Here we have a colorful cover from number 35, January, 1940. I hope Batman is not an anti-vaxxer.

I've been a fan of Batman since I first saw the television show and read the comic books back in the 1960s. Superman has his powers because he was born on another planet. Spiderman has his because he was bitten by a radioactive spider. Batman is a self-made man.

Comic Book -- Baseball Thrills -- July 6, 2023

This 1951 edition of Baseball Thrills was allegedly edited by Cleveland Indians pitching star Bob Feller. One story talks about Bobby Thomson's "shot heard round the world," which sank the Dodgers in a special playoff with the Giants. The other talks about Joe DiMaggio's retirement.
