Leon Redbone 75 -- August 26, 2024

Leon Redbone was born 75 years ago today, on 26-August-1949. I have always enjoyed hearing his voice, whether on records or in commercials.  He always wore a hat and our tastes in music were similar.

Since he said "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," I won't.

Men used to wear straw boaters during the summer. I haven't found one that felt comfortable.

Leon Redbone, RIP -- May 30, 2019

I have always enjoyed hearing Leon Redbone's voice, whether on records or in commercials.  He always wore a hat and our tastes in music were similar.  He retired a few years ago because of poor health and now he has died.

Knox Hats #4 -- November 30, 2012

"Novel Straw Hats" An ad from the 10-December-1905 San Francisco Call. I like wearing hats.

It stormed during the night.  The power went out about 3am.  I noticed the clock flashing about 5:20am.

I had taken the day off, so I got some Christmas shopping done at Hillsdale.  Then I drove over 92 to Bay Books in Half Moon Bay and did more.  It rained the whole time.

Knox Hats #2 -- April 29, 2008

When I first looked, I found the illustration confusing. Was the younger man hypnotizing the bearded guy? Or flashing some kind of mysterious ray? Then I figured it out.
Last night we were watching the Giants game and the lights flicker and I lost my internet connection. At the ballpark, the lights and the scoreboard went out. Some of the lights on the bridge did, too.
The Giants have demoted Barry Zito to the bullpen. He's been having troubles.

Knox Hats -- December 9, 2007

Looking for examples of the Waterless Knox, I sometimes come across ads for other products named Knox. This comes from a 1908 collection of McCall's Magazine. I always wear a hat or a cap when I go out, except to church.
