Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks has died.  I used to hear them on KUSF when it played punk and related music.

I took the photo on 10-August-2011.

We got a memo that there would be a protest in the plaza by our building at noon. It turned out to be a group trying to save KUSF (http://www.savekusf.org/). They were asking people to write to the FCC, asking for formal hearings about preserving local programming. I listened till someone mentioned that Entercom couldn't hear them from the twelfth floor and maybe they should go up and visit. I went back to the office then.

KUSF/KDFC -- January 19, 2011

I was sad to learn that KUSF suddenly went off the air on Tuesday at 10am. KDFC, the classical music station, will take over their frequency and go non-profit. I started to listen to KUSF in 1977 or 1978 when it started playing punk. I was when we moved to Pacifica and we couldn't receive their signal. KDFC is far from ideal, but perhaps they will get better.
