Oh Father...

Amazon's The Boys ended this week and while I've seen several critiques, I thought the series finale was satisfying. A character prominently featured this season, is the megacpastor supe, Oh Father. I decided he needed DCC stats/
Oh Father: Init +1; Atk +6 punch (1d6+3) or sonic blast (see below); Crit V/1d20+1d8; AC 16; HD 7d10+28; HP 60; Mov. 30'; Act 1d20+1d12; SP sonic scream, super hearing; SV Ref +4; Fort +4; Will +8; AL L

Sonic Scream:
Oh Father can make a sonic scream affecting all creatures in in a 20 foot cone. Creatures in the cone must make a DC 15 (Fortitude) save. Non-supes in the cone take 1d12 damage and are unable to act while Oh Father is screaming on a failed save. On a successful save that take have damage and can act (though at a -1 dice penalty) while within the cone. Supers in the cone take 1d6 damage, are unable to use their powers, and unable to act on a failed save. On a successful save they take no damage and are able to act (though their powers still don't work within the cone).

Super hearing:  Like all V supes, Oh Father can hear better than normal humans. He can hear higher frequencies than humans. He has a +5 roll to all sight/smell/hearing rolls. This also makes him weak to sonic attacks.

Nappa vs Homelander

Power scaling can be fun, though it’s also one of those subjects I normally don’t care about. If you ask me who will win in a fight, ABC or XYZ, I’ll say depends on who’s writing the story.

I love Dragon Ball and all of its off-shoots and I think Homelander is a tool. That’s why I love that, based on their respective power levels, early DBZ big bad Nappa (whose power level is quickly surpassed by just about everyone) would decimate Vought’s golden child. And remember if you want to add Homelander into your DCC game I have stats for him here.

This short animation illustrates how the fight would go.

Love Sausage and Bushmaster (NSFW)

I love statting weird characters and they don't get much weirder than Love Sausage. He is a minor antagonist in The Boys. His "love sausage" was seen before the rest of him. The character would later be seen at Herogasm (where he got his name), and finally as a guard in a Vought International internment camp for Starlighters.

The comic version of Love Sausage is actually a hero  and ally of the Boys. While this version also gets his name because of his unusually big penis, it's not a prehensile monstrosity like the villainous show version.

Love Sausage: Init +1; Atk +5 love sausage (1d6+5); Crit V/1d20+1d8; AC 14; HD 6d10+24; HP 52; Mov. 30'; Act 1d20+1d12; SP prehensile penis, super hearing; SV Ref +3; Fort +6; Will +2; AL C

Prehensile Penis: Love Sausage possesses a super strong abnormally large prehensile penis. It can be used to grapple and strangle people, though Love Sausage truly gets pleasure from using it as a lash. Love Sausage gets +5 to grapple rolls when using his penis. It has a range of 10'.

Super hearing:  Like all V supes, the Love Sausage can hear better than normal humans. He can hear higher frequencies than humans. He has a +5 roll to all sight/smell/hearing rolls. This also makes him week to sonic attacks.

After posting, I decided to revert it to a draft and add another character I was reminded of. Gen V Season 2 introduced Ally, a Starlighter with an unusual power. Her power is prehensile hair... prehensile pubic hair. She is recruited by Emma/Little Cricket (who came up with her supe name) and plays an important part in the season's final battle.

As a side note, I always wondered if Marvel's Medusa could do the same thing...

Ally aka Bushmaster: Init +1; Atk +1 unarmed (1) or +6 grapple; Crit I/1d8; AC 12; HD 3d6; HP 10; Mov. 30'; Act 1d20; SP prehensile pubic hair, super hearing; SV Ref +2; Fort +0; Will +2; AL L
.
Prehensile Pubic Hair: Bushmaster's pubic hair is like Medusa's hair, but not snakes. She gets +5 to grapple rolls with it.

Super hearing:  Like all V supes, the Bushmaster can hear better than normal humans. She can hear higher frequencies than humans. She has a +5 roll to all hearing rolls. This also makes her weak to sonic attacks.

Manhandled Podcast

The final season of The Boys has started. It's brutal, entertaining, and I believe the show is going to get a worthy send off. Some folks say the show is copy real world American politics and society too closely, but I'd say the real issue is that MAGA is cartoonishly evil.

Promo videos for this season include ads for the Deep and Black Noir's manosphere podcast, Manhandled. These are spot on critiques on real world podcasts and pretty funny. After watch them check out my DCC supers stats for the Deep.
Kevin Kohler aka The Deep: Init +7; Atk +7 unarmed (2d6+5); Crit V/1d20+1d14; AC 14; HD 8d10+40; HP 76; Mov. 40', swim 90'; Act 2d20; SP dimwitted, water breathing, communication with aquatic life, regenerative healing, super hearing; SV Ref +8; Fort +8; Will -2; AL C
.
Dimwitted: The Deep is comically dumb and weak-willed. He commonly makes tactical mistakes.

Regenerative healing: While it's not at the same level as Homelander, the Deep as enhanced healing abilities. He regains 5 hit points for every hour he rests.

Super hearing:  Like all V supes, the Deep can hear better than normal humans. He can hear higher frequencies than humans. He has a +5 roll to all hearing rolls. This also makes him vulnerable to sonic attacks.

The Deepest Thoughts With The Deep

I’m gearing up for the apocalyptic final season of Tge Boys. I’ve finally started watching season 2 of Gen V to prep and my excitement is building.

While this final season will be dark and brutal, the great folks at Vought have brought us a new Deep Thoughts With The Deep, something we need in these trying times.

I AM BETTER!

I'm The Real Hero!

Dave and I have started work on Crisis In Infinite Zines #2. We are still waiting for approval from Goodman Games and our test prints, so I don't have a release date. That being said Issue #1 is one its way. As practice and to get my mind fully immersed back into the DCC mindset, I thought I'd do some random stats. Since I'm getting ready to start season two of Gen V, I figured I'd start with the main villain of the setting.

Superman and Homelander will finally fight later this year thanks to DC's KO event. I really want Clark to take him out in one punch (which based on power scale is what should happen), though I'm not holding my breath. The art with this post is an official promo piece for the upcoming confrontation.

Superman is beyond power levels I'm comfortable working with for DCC, but I think Homelander is doable. These stats are based on the Amazon Prime version of Homelander (mainly because I think the original The Boys comic is great in concept and trash in execution).

--------

John aka Homelander: Init +10; Atk +10 slam (3d6+8) or +8 heat vision (2d6, range 120'); Crit V/2d20; AC 16; HD 12d12+72; HP 134; Mov. 60', fly 90'; Act 2d20; SP fulcrum requirement, instability, overconfidence, regenerative healing, super strength, super durability, super speed, heat vision, supers senses, x-ray vision; SV Ref +12; Fort +12; Will +4; AL C

Fulcrum requirement: To properly utilize his super strength and speed, Homelander must have a solid surface and leverage. Without that his slam attacks only do 1d6 damage.

Instability: Mental attacks are super effective against Homelander due to his traumatic and cold upbringing. This is reflected in his low Will save. Additionally psionic damage die are increased by one against him.

Overconfidence: Homelander believes he is the perfect being which causes him to underestimate opponents.

Regenerative healing: Homelander's healing is greatly enhanced. He regains 1d12+8 hit points for every hour he rests.

Super senses: Like all V supes, Homelander can hear higher frequencies than normal humans. However, Homelander's senses are even more enhanced. He gets +10 on all rolls related to sight/sent/hearing. This also makes him vulnerable to sonic attacks.

X-ray vision: Homelander has low energy photon x-ray vision and can see through any substance except zinc.

Hope and Fear

Season 4 of The Boys debuts today so I thought I’d share some more Marcelo Ventura art. If you want to add a Kryptonian to your 5e game I don’t have Superman stats, but I do have General Zod stats. If you want to add Homelander, check this one out.

No Matter How Patriotic They Are...

We are a little less that three weeks away from the debut of the new season of The Boys and I'm pretty stoked.

If you didn't know Homelander is on trial for his actions at the end of the previous season. Here's some PR from Vought International about it.

BREAKING: A record number of patriots applied to be jurors at Homelander’s trial, including this local school teacher, who was deemed biased because he cosplayed as his favorite hero ONCE. More proof this is a sham of a trial, and that our greatest hero will soon be #HomeFree!

"What do you do... when your bro is in hot water?" That’s what Deep bravely asked himself, volunteering as a character witness for Homelander’s trial. Read his watershed expose in this month’s V-PLE, and think about what YOU can do to help keep our greatest hero #HomeFree!"

"As his “trial” begins, please remember that the sketches of Homelander are just that: sketches! Mere chalk drawings by humans could never capture just how alert and laser-focused Homelander is on this case. His resolve to be #HomeFree has NEVER BEEN STRONGER."

The jabs at Trump and conservatives this show (and it's related media) does is damn entertaining. And as always follow the links below for some The Boys 5e content:

"I AM BETTER!"

Though a teaser dropped back in December, a few days ago we got our first official trailer for The Boys Season 4. I'm really excited for the addition of Karl Urban and where the story is going to go. The season debuts June 13th.

The first look at Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 also dropped. This isn't the character's first foray into video games. He was an operator skin for Call of Duty. However, though this version is modeled after actor Anthony Star, it's voiced by someone else. Star has said he wanted to voice the character, but couldn't for an unspecified reason.

The Boys Season 4 Trailer

The season 4 trailer for The Boys dropped a few days ago.

I think it looks phenomenal. I think it also looks painfully relevant to the world today. At least we're getting some new eye candy with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the cast.

#ThinkBrink

The loss of Professor Brink is truly tragic.

Three episodes into the season and I'm loving Gen V. I really like all of the character much more than I expected. Honestly of the main cast, I think the lead is the least likable (though I understand why she is that way).

Safe Super Sex PSA

Gen V debuts Friday and Vought International. Because they care, Vought has released a GodU PSA regarding super sex. I laughed a lot at this one, but it brings up some interesting ideas. Also I love that there is also a reference to SupePorn.

X-Factor Review (No, Not That One)

This post has nothing to do with a certain team of mutants in Marvel Comics or UK music show. Today I'm going to do something I don't normally do and review a digital fan comic. X-Factor is a crossover comic by Ben Royce (aka Spookylolly).

The comic begins with the Power Puff Girls heading to stop a villain that's attacking Townsville. They soon find Homelander stealing Chemical X from Mojo Jojo. The powerhouses fight with Homelander getting the upper hand. Luckily for the girls they are saved by the timely intervention of Superman. With renewed vigor the trio take out Homelander and save the day.

Yes this is a goofy premise and there is definitely a style clash, but it's honestly a lot of fun. It's great to see whole heroes kick Homelander's ass. If you'd like to read the comic you can grab it digitally from Ben's Gumroad page. The 12 page comic is presented in two ways. There is a pdf and then also a folder with individual images comic and bonus epilogue page, as well as 12 bonus images (some of which are related to the story and some not). In one image the Power Puff Girls origin for this world is updated and it's pretty fantastic (and tied to the Venture Brothers). There's also a panel of what I hope is the sequel comic which sees Clark take on Omni-Man

At 2 bucks, this one is worth the price of admission. Remember if you want to use Homelander in your 5e game and do your own crossover, stats can be found here

Deeper and Deeper... I Swear It's Not Porn

Yesterday my sponsored ads on Facebook included The Boys: Deeper and Deeper, an in-universe audiobook about the Deep. It's relatively short (only 70 minutes long). It was written by Matt Berns and narrated by Chace Crawford (the Deep), Leigh Bush (Vought podcaster Haley), and Katy Breier (the Deep's wife, Cassandra).

From his exile from The Seven to his escape from an insidious cult, The Deep tells all in this companion to the hit Prime Video series The Boys

He may be Lord of the Seven Seas, but for The Deep, life has been a tsunami of humiliations and setbacks. After braving the childhood trauma of being the weird kid with gills, Deep rose to the very top, basking in worldwide fame with Earth’s most powerful superheroes. But his public glory masked the disrespect of his teammates who crushed him, day after day. When he found himself patrolling the streets of Sandusky, Ohio, and then swallowed up into the Church of the Collective, Deep realized he had plummeted even deeper than the Mariana Trench.

Now, Deep—on the road promoting his memoir, Deeper—is sitting down for a no-holds-barred podcast interview. With his wife, Cassandra, by his side, Deep dives to the very depths of his soul and lays bare everything that has made him the fish-guy he is today.

--------------------------

The audiobook isn't actually the in-universe memoir, but rather a podcast interview about it set before Season 3. Like everything else created for The Boys, it includes in-universe advertising. It's definitely an entertaining thing to listen to, but also like the Deep, super cringey. To quote my friend Mark at Cross Planes put it on Facebook, "The Deep is so loathsome and yet oddly compelling and completely sad."

You can grab it here, or you can try Audible Premium for free, use one of your credits to get it like I definitely didn't do, then cancel your membership.
