2026 Chachi Field of Dreams Set

I knew I'd create a few custom cards from the Field of Dreams game for my 2026 Chachi set, but when walking from the movie site to the actual ballpark, I had the idea for an insert set to commemorate the event.  There was a meandering gravel path between the two locations with some concessions, helpful ushers and what looked to be somewhat sturdy, life-size standees of stars from the Phillies and Twins.  I took pictures of all the Phillies and the one ex-Phillie, with Jenna posing with a few of her favorites.

Shown here are those 11 photos, presented on a 1941 Play Ball design, which is close enough to represent the 1939 throwback uniforms worn by the Phillies.

One Sentence Summary:  Trea Turner hit two home runs and committed what could have been ruled four errors in what he deemed a "ridiculous game" in this 10-7 series opening win over the Dodgers.

What It Means:  Weather permitting, the Phillies go for the series win on Tuesday night with Zack Wheeler on the mound.

What Happened:  The Phillies found their bats and pounded out 11 hits, scoring four runs in both the second and sixth innings.  Turner homered in the second and sixth, Brandon Marsh hit a solo home run in the sixth, Bryce Harper connected in the seventh and Derek Hill added a solo shot in the eighth.  Turner also had a double while committing only one error officially, but what was four errors unofficially.  Christopher Sanchez battled through 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven.  Chase Shugart got into trouble in the ninth, allowing three runs to score, before Jhoan Duran was called upon to record the game's final out.

Featured Card:  Both Turner and Harper received Topps Now cards.  Harper's seventh inning solo home run was his 200th with the Phillies, and the back of his card also mentions this was the club's 1,000th win at Citizens Bank Park.  Here's Turner's Topps Now card, which highlights his 200th career home run, his second home run of the game and hit off Alex Vesia in the sixth inning.

Transaction:  Alan Rangel (rhp) was optioned back to the IronPigs and Alex McFarlane (rhp) was recalled from Double-A Reading.  McFarlane had been active earlier on the season for one game (April 24th) but didn't see any game action.

One Sentence Summary:  Trea Turner collected three hits, including his 12th home run, and Jesus Luzardo breezed through five innings as the Phillies won over the Mets, 6-1.

What It Means:  For the second day in a row, the start time of the game was moved up an hour, this time due to pending thunderstorms.  The Phillies go for the series win this afternoon with Alan Rangel on the mound.

What Happened:  The Phillies were up 2-0 early in this game, thanks to a two-run home run from Kyle Schwarber.  Turner was on board, having singled to start the first.  Turner led off the fifth with his solo home run, giving the Phillies a 3-1 lead.  Alec Bohm would add an RBI single later in the inning.  Bryce Harper capped the scoring with a two-run single in the sixth.  Orion Kerkering, Jose Alvarado and Chase Shugart combined to throw four shutout innings in relief, with Alvarado's effort dropping his season ERA down below seven again.  The game was interrupted in the seventh with a nearly hour long rain delay.

Featured Card:  I'm still slowly picking up 2026 Phillies baseball cards, although I'm not as diligent about adding new cards as I used to be.  Here's Turner's fairly non-descript but distinctly Bowmanesque card from this year's Bowman set.

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies got to Pirates' ace Paul Skenes for eight runs in the scorching heat, hanging on to win this game, 10-6.

What It Means:  It was 96 degrees for the first pitch at 6:41, as the region suffers through a grueling holiday weekend heat wave.

What Happened:  The Phillies offense made it look easy against Skenes, collecting eight runs (seven earned) on six hits, including a three-run home run from Trea Turner in the second and a solo home run from Brandon Marsh in the third.  Zack Wheeler labored through 4 2/3 innings but struck out 10.  He was pulled after 104 pitches, and voiced his displeasure at getting the hook by interim manager Don Mattingly following the game.  A two-run home run from Alec Bohm in the bottom of the eighth made it a non-save situation, but Jhoan Duran still entered and pitched a perfect ninth to secure the win.

Featured Card:  Hopefully Turner is getting hot.  He's batting .322 with three doubles and three home runs over the past two weeks, raising his season average to a more respectable .239.

Game 79 - Phils Plate Eight in Ninth, Completing Amazing Comeback!

One Sentence Summary:  With two outs, the Phillies scored eight runs in the top of the ninth inning, tying the game on a Brandon Marsh two-run home run and taking the lead on a three-home run from Bryson Stott is this all-time great comeback win.

What It Means:  Incredible!  I excused myself from a networking event and caught the last part of this game from my laptop in my hotel room as the Phillies somehow miraculously pulled off this come from behind win.

What Happened:  The Phillies were behind 5-0 after four innings and trailed 5-3 after seven innings.  Jesus Luzardo battled through 6 2/3 innings, allowing all five runs but striking out a career-high 13.  In the top of the eighth, J.T. Realmuto laced a bases-clearing double to right fielder James Wood that popped out of Woods' glove and then was kicked, allowing the Phillies to take a 6-5 lead.  The Nationals quickly took back the lead in the bottom of the eighth when Jorbit Vivas connected for a three-run home run off Orion Kerkering.

With two outs and down to their last strike in the top of the ninth, this happened:  Trea Turner singled, Marsh homered to tie the game at 8-8, Bryce Harper singled, pinch-hitter Derek Hill singled, Stott hit his three-run home run, Realmuto walked, Gabriel Rincones, Jr. singled, Edmundo Sosa doubled two more runs home, Justin Crawford walked, Turner singled Sosa home.  What an amazing, all-time memorable game for the Phils.

Featured Card:  Topps Now gave us a card for this game, and I wish they could have also included Stott somehow as he had the big tie-breaking home run.

One Sentence Summary:  Andrew Painter and the Phillies were demolished by the Dodgers in this not-enjoyable-to-watch 9-1 loss.

What It Means:  This game was so bad, it caused a four day break from the blog and a sweep of the Padres in the next series for me to fully recover.

What Happened:  Painter went 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, including a pair of home runs.  His ERA through his first 11 appearances in the majors is 5.74.  Tanner Banks, Chase Shugart and Nolan Hoffman all gave up runs in their relief outings as well.  Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned the win for the Dodgers, striking out 10 in 5 1/3 innings, and not allowing a hit until the fourth inning.  Bryson Stott hit a solo home run in the ninth.  J.T. Realmuto departed the game early after getting hit by a Yamamoto fastball in the third inning.

Featured Card:  Last year's batting leader, Trea Turner, went 1 for 4 in this game to raise his season average to .223.  It's crazy to me how much he's struggling this year.  Freddie Freeman, who finished third in the batting average race last season was hitting .271 through this game.

One Sentence Summary:  Aaron Nola's solid outing was supported by three solo home runs in the first three innings from Bryce Harper, Trea Turner and J.T. Realmuto in this 4-3 win.

What It Means:  The Phillies would go for the series sweep on Wednesday afternoon, with Cristopher Sanchez on the mound looking to break the franchise's consecutive scoreless inning streak.

What Happened:  Nola had his strongest start of the season, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five over six innings.  Jhoan Duran pitched a perfect ninth to notch his 11th save.  Harper, Turner (batting second) and Realmuto launched their solo shots three innings in a row, and Edmundo Sosa would have joined them in the fourth with a solo home run had center fielder Jackson Merrill not robbed him with a leaping catch, bringing the ball back over the wall.  Turner looked good batting second, hitting a 434-foot home run off the third deck in the third, snapping an 0 for 18 streak.  He'd add a line-drive single in the fifth.

Featured Card:  Hopefully Turner is turning the corner and his .225 average slowly starts to go up in the coming weeks.

One of the top offensive forces for the Phillies in 2025, Trea Turner became the first Phillies player since Richie Ashburn in 1958 to win the National League batting title.  Turner missed 18 of the final 19 regular season games with a hamstring injury, but his .304 mark was still enough to win the crown.  He made 139 starts at shortstop, led the team, and was second in the league, with 179 hits, and had 36 stolen bases, his highest tally since leading the league with 43 stolen bases in 2018.  Turner also played solid defense, with his .984 fielding percentage fourth among all National League shortstops.  His bWAR of 5.4 led all position players on the Phillies and was second on the team behind Cristopher Sanchez's mark of 8.0.

Game 162 - Phils Walk It Off; Turner Wins Batting Title

One Sentence Summary:  A quiet day offensively for the Phillies nevertheless ended with a walk-off win over the Twins as the 2025 regular season came to a close.

What It Means:  We were there, and while waiting for the Phillies to try and get a few hits, we watched the out of town scoreboards as the Brewers defeated the Reds, and the Marlins took care of the Mets.  The Mets will completely miss the postseason, with the Reds heading to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers in the Wild Card Series.  The Phillies will play the winner of that series in Philadelphia beginning on Saturday.

What Happened:  Cristopher Sanchez threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings, and could have gone longer, but he'll now rest up for NLDS Game 1.  Lou Trivino entered from the bullpen and the Twins had a 1-0 lead before Sanchez was finished getting congratulatory handshakes in the dugout.  Max Kepler hit a solo home run against his former team in the bottom of the eighth to tie it.  Tanner Banks and Orion Kerkering pitched two scoreless innings of relief, with Kerkering striking out the side in the 10th.

With ghost-pinch-runner Harrison Bader on second to start the bottom of the 10th, Weston Wilson bunted him to third and Nick Castellanos brought him home with a sacrifice fly to right field, winning the last game of the season.

Featured Card:  Kyle Schwarber won the league's home run title (56) and RBI title (132) with Trea Turner winning the team's first batting title since 1958 with a .304 mark.  Richie Ashburn won the title that year, beating out Willie Mays on the final day of the season.  Schwarber's feats are impressive, but I wanted to create a Highlight card for Turner's crown, given the time that has passed since the last Phillies player led the league.

Field Report:  After an obligatory stop at the team store to use a 25% coupon received earlier in the season, we had one last regular season meal at Bull's BBQ and then settled into our Diamond Club (it'll always be the Diamond Club to me) seats in Section C.  Not a lot happened after that until the 10th inning, but I was thrilled to have all four of us together for the game.

Transaction:  Turner (ss) was activated from the injured list and Max Lazar (rhp) was optioned to Clearwater to stay hot for the postseason.

Memory Lane - Game 162

1. October 4, 2009 - Catcher Paul Hoover singled in the winning run in the 10th in a 7-6 win over the Marlins.
2. October 3, 2010 - The Phillies lost 8-7 to the Braves in their final tune-up before facing the Reds in the NLDS.
3. September 28, 2011 - The Phillies closed out the 2011 regular season with a 13-inning victory against the Braves, setting a franchise record with their 102nd regular season win.

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies chipped away at an early 4-0 deficit, but came away a run short in this 5-4 loss in Miami.

What It Means:  Having won two out of three, they'll come home for a crucial four-game series with the Mets beginning on Monday night.

What Happened:  Taijuan Walker was in trouble early, throwing a ton of pitches in the first inning and allowing the Marlins to stake a 4-0 lead.  He settled down after that, pitching five scoreless innings.  The Phillies' offense chipped away as best they could, but the Marlins' bullpen prevailed.  Nick Castellanos drove in a run with an RBI-triple in the second inning.  Two more runs scored in the sixth on a Trea Turner solo home run and an RBI-single from the red-hot Brandon Marsh.  Kyle Schwarber drove in the team's fourth and final run with a single to right in the ninth.  With runners at the corners and two outs, Bryce Harper grounded to second to end the game.

Featured Card:  The loss was the second worse news from this game.  In the top of the seventh, Trea Turner injured his hamstring running out a grounder to first, immediately leaving the game.  He'll likely miss time, and Phillies fans are collectively holding our breath that it's not more than a few weeks.

One Sentence Summary:  Trea Turner came through with a clutch, two-run single in the bottom of the 10th, sending the Phillies to their third straight win over the Braves.

What It Means:  They'll go for a series sweep tonight before heading to Milwaukee for a key series with huge playoff implications.

What Happened:  Cristopher Sanchez and Chris Sale baffled batters for most of the game.  Sanchez allowed a run on seven hits in seven innings, striking out eight.  Sale allowed a solo home run to Weston Wilson in the third, and allowed only two other hits while striking out nine.  Knotted at 1-1, Matt Strahm gave up an RBI single to Nacho Alvarez Jr. in the top of the 10th, scoring the ghost-runner, Jake Fraley.  In the bottom of the 10th, with ghost-runner Alce Bohm on second, Nick Castellanos was hit by a pitch and Bryson Stott singled to load the bases.  With two outs and two strikes on him, Turner found a hole in the infield, singling to right and scoring both Bohm and Castellanos.  It was the team's fourth walk-off win of the season.

Featured Card:  Not only did he have the winning hit, but Turner provided some fantastic plays at shortstop throughout this game.  I recently added this great-looking card of his to my collection from the club-exclusive 2023 Topps Brooklyn Collection.  Featuring a retro Topps design, the card is about as thick as four regular cards.

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies completed the three-game sweep of the Mariners in convincing fashion, collecting 20 hits and 11 runs in this lopsided victory.

What It Means:  Following an off-day on Thursday, the Phillies come home for a quick three-game weekend series with the Nationals.

We moved our oldest son into his college dorm on Wednesday morning.  He's not too far away, but it was still a roller coaster of a day and we'd have even more "memorable" moments on Thursday.  We listened to the end of this game on the way home, happy the Phillies were giving us a non-stressful win and secure in the knowledge Doug was where he was meant to be.  The sky is the limit for that kid.

What Happened:  The piling on didn't come until late in the game, as the Phillies scored eight times in the final two innings.  Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Trea Turner tripled and Kyle Schwarber brought him home with a sacrifice fly.  They'd take the lead for good on an RBI-double from Bryson Stott in the second.  Max Kepler (13) and Schwarber (45) both homered.  Kepler and Stott both had three-hit days, with Stott batting .500 (6 for 12, two doubles, home run) in the series.

Jesus Luzardo struck out 12 over six innings, improving to 12-6.  Jose Alvarado pitched a perfect eighth inning in his return from being suspended for the use of a banned substance.

Featured Card:  For the third day in a row, the Phillies received a Topps Now card.  This one featured the Phillies' hottest hitters, Turner and Schwarber.  Turner is on fire, and in his last seven games, he's batting .618 (21 for 34) with four extra-base hits.  He owns a 10-game hitting streak.

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies offense punished Mariners' pitching with 22 hits and 12 runs in this convincing win.

What It Means:  We were there, and this felt like a playoff game.  Monday night, American League opponent, and yet the ballpark was electric.

What Happened:  Every batter in the Phillies' starting line-up had at least two hits.  Trea Turner led the way, going 4 for 6, with five RBIs and falling a triple short of the cycle.  Bryce Harper hit two impressive home runs, a solo shot in the sixth and a two-run home run in the seventh, while going 3 for 6.  J.T. Realmuto added his own solo home run in the second, going 3 for 5.  Ranger Suarez was the beneficiary of the outburst, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out 10, one short of tying his career high.  The game shouldn't have been as close at the end, but Nolan Hoffman, making his big league debut, allowed three runs in a lengthy ninth inning.

Featured Card:  It's not often Harper hits two home runs and isn't the featured card, but Turner had a big night too, and his first home run of the season at Citizens Bank Park was also his 1,500th career hit.  Topps Now gave him a card for the milestone.

Field Report:  Wanting to enjoy a night out before a busy week ahead, Jenna and I went to this game.  After a leisurely dinner (and dessert) and Pass and Stowe, we watched most of this game from the concourse.

Transaction:  Max Lazar (rhp) was optioned to Lehigh Valley and Hoffman (rhp) was briefly recalled to take his place.

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies finally scores runs in bunches, punishing the Braves with a 13-0 victory.

What It Means:  They'll try to continue swinging the bats tonight with Jesus Luzardo on the mound.  The Phillies Room will be down for routine summer maintenance over the next week-plus, returning to live posting following a long holiday weekend.

What Happened:  After a 2 hour, 19 minute rain delay at the outset, the Phillies opted to let Mick Abel have the night off and went with a bullpen game.  The Phillies jumped on Braves' starter Bryce Elder quickly, scoring 10 runs off him in his two innings of work.  After a quiet series in Houston, the Phillies hit five home runs - two from Trea Turner and one each from Nick Castellanos, Otto Kemp and Kyle Schwarber.  Castellanos' and Kemp's home runs were both three-run shots, with Kemp collecting his first big league long ball.  J.T. Realmuto was 3 for 4 at the plate before the veteran regulars were lifted with the game well in hand.

Alan Rangel pitched five scoreless innings of relief, earning a rare save in a blow-out game.  Luke Williams pitched the ninth for the Braves, allowing Turner's second home run.

Featured Card:  Turner needed a triple for the cycle when he came to bat against Williams, and he admitted following the game he had very briefly considered not stepping on home following his home run, so that it would be scored a triple.  He was 4 for 6 in this game with four runs scored.  This is an appropriately-themed insert card from the recently released Topps Series Two.

One Sentence Summary:  Trea Turner hit a lead-off home run and Mick Abel pitched five solid innings in this 5-2 series opening win over the Marlins.

What It Means:  With the Mets inactive, the Phillies pulled to within two games of first place in the East.

What Happened:  Turner homered to center on the second pitch of the game.  Max Kepler gave the Phillies a 2-1 lead with his solo home run in the fourth.  In the seventh, Brandon Marsh tripled and came home on Turner's single, his third hit of the game.  Alec Bohm, the team's hottest hitter, added a pair of insurance runs with a two-run single in the top of the ninth.

Abel improved to 2-0, and dropped his ERA to 2.21.  He allowed a run on three hits, while striking out three.  Orion Kerkering pitched a clean ninth and earned his first career save.  Of note for Tuesday's game, Nick Castellanos was lifted in the eighth inning and replaced by Johan Rojas for a defensive upgrade.

Featured Card:  With his average up to .308 through Tuesday, to go along with his nine home runs, 34 RBIs and 19 stolen bases, Turner is making a case for himself to be present in Atlanta for the All-Star Game.

Transaction:  Carlos Hernandez (rhp), designated for assignment by the Phillies last week, was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Tigers.

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies plated six first inning runs, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Trea Turner and Bryce Harper, in this 8-3 win over the Blue Jays.

What It Means:  The four-game losing streak is over, Harper is back in the line-up, and the Phillies hope to start a new and lengthy winning streak.

What Happened:  The Phillies jumped on Blue Jays' starting pitcher Bowden Francis early, scoring seven runs in the first two innings.  Bryson Stott walked on four pitches to begin the game, with Turner then hitting his first home run of the night.  Harper, wearing a bulky guard over his bruised elbow, marked his return with his ninth home run following Turner's blast.  Additional runs scored on a Max Kepler RBI single and a two-run single from Stott, as the Phillies batted around.  Turner added a solo home run in the eighth.

Cristopher Sanchez was the beneficiary of the run support, picking up his fifth win.  The lefty allowed a run on four hits in his six innings of work.

Featured Card:  Turner went from being the goat in Sunday's loss to the hero in this victory.  To date, I've collected 10 of the 19 cards currently available at the ballpark as part of Kids Club/Club 215 membership, including this Turner card.

Game 59 - Punchless, Sloppy Phils Swept by Brew Crew

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies rolled over easily in this 5-2 defeat to the Brewers, getting swept at home for the first time this season.

What It Means:  With Bryce Harper missing his fifth straight game due to a bruised elbow, the Phillies' line-up had trouble piecing together meaningful hits.  They'll head to Toronto next to try to end their four-game losing streak.

What Happened:  Ranger Suarez had a solid outing, allowing two runs (one earned) in six innings, before yielding to the bullpen.  In the seventh, with the Phillies holding a 2-1 lead, Caleb Durbin doubled to left on a ball that should have been caught by Weston Wilson.  Orion Kerkering relieved Suarez, walked a batter, but recorded the first two outs of the inning.  With runners on the corners, Trea Turner booted a ground ball hit by William Contreras, allowing the Brewers to tie the score and prolong the inning.  Pinch-hitter Jake Bauers then doubled to right, scoring two more unearned runs for the Brewers.

Featured Card:  The Phillies gave the Brewers five outs in the seventh, with Turner's gaffe the ultimate heart-breaker.

Transaction:  In a much-need bullpen shake-up, Jose Ruiz (rhp) was designated for assignment and Seth Johnson (rhp) was recalled from the IronPigs.  Ruiz had an 8.16 ERA in 16 appearance and 14 1/3 innings pitched so far this season.  To date, he's not appeared on any Phillies baseball cards.

One Sentence Summary:  Sloppy defense and Orion Kerkering allowed the Nationals to score four times to tie the score in the top of the ninth, only for the Phillies to win the game on a walk-off wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

What It Means:  According to boopstats on Bluesky, this was the ninth time since 1916 the Phillies have won a game on a walk-off wild pitch.  In recent history, Bryson Stott joins Mike Schmidt (1983), Rod Booker (1990) and Juan Bell (1993) in the Phillies' record books.

What Happened:  It should have never needed to happen.  Zack Wheeler was in control for 6 2/3 innings, departing the game with a 3-1 lead.  He had allowed a solo home run to Luis Garcia Jr. to lead off the sixth.  Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run home run in the first to give the Phillies the early lead.  Johan Rojas added another run in the third with a solo home run.

Speaking of Rojas, a few of his defensive miscues were responsible for this game going down to the wire.  After Jose Alvarado loaded the bases and then struck out the side in a tense eighth inning, Orion Kerkering took to the mound in the ninth with the Phillies holding a 4-2 lead.  Kerkering wasn't sharp, and  Rojas' misplay in center, an error from Trea Turner and a three-run home run by Nathaniel Lowe gave the Nationals a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth, Alec Bohm singled, Bryson Stott walked, Bohm tagged up and went to third on a sac fly from Max Kepler and scored on a Rojas sac fly to tie the game.  Stott had tagged on the same play, and while he was taking his lead off third, reliever Kyle Finnegan uncorked a wild pitch, sending Stott home with the winning run.

Featured Card:  Tough decision here, but I'll go with Turner even though his defense necessitated the late inning heroics, but he also went 4 for 4 out of the lead-off spot with an RBI and two runs scored.

Game 17 - Bohm's Clutch Hit Leads to Win

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies battled back late, receiving clutch hits from J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm in this 6-4 win over the Giants.

What It Means:  Two more games with the Giants remain before the Marlins come to Philly for the weekend.

What Happened:  Jesus Luzardo faced off against future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander, with Luzardo finishing with a slightly better line score.  Luzardo allowed three runs on five hits and a pair of walks while striking out four in 5 1/3 innings.  Verlander took the loss and went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, three walks.

J.T. Realmuto homered in the second and Brandon Marsh, mired in a lengthy 0-fer, hit a sacrifice fly to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.  The Giants tied the score in the fourth and took a one-run lead in the sixth.  In the bottom of the sixth, Realmuto singled home Kyle Schwarber to tie the game again.  Bohm later singled to left to score Nick Castellanos and give the Phillies a 4-3 lead.  Bryce Harper added a two-run home run in the seventh.  Matt Strahm worked a perfect ninth to record his first save of the season.

Featured Card:  Bohm and Marsh are both suffering through horrendous slumps, so it was great to see them both contribute to this win.  Here's Bohm's team-issued card, available to members of the Kids Club or Club 215 at their Ashburn Alley kiosk throughout the season.

Field Report:  Jenna and I were there, sitting in the very cold and very windy Section 204.  The vantage from right field afforded some fantastic views of the sunset, but we could have done without the gusty (and did I mention cold) winds.  Dinner was once again enjoyed at Pass at Stow prior to the game.
