A day out on the town

The doctor told us he wanted us to have Sophie get another jaundice test. So after giving her a sponge bath I decided to shower as well. It felt wonderful to be clean and have my hair washed. Only four days after she was born I decided that I would go on this adventure out.
We dressed her up in this white dress and had a fun time deciding what headband to have her wear. When we put this one on we all started to laugh and smile because she looked so adorable. In one of the pictures we took her head kept tipping over and we claimed that the headband was so heavy her head would tip over.
That day we also went to the pediatrition too. He just wanted to weigh her and check and see how she was doing. On Thursday June 25th she weighed 7 lbs 10 oz. Her jaudnice level went down as well and they told us we didn't have to get it tested anymore. I was relieved because I felt so bad watching them prick her heel. Although she didn't even make a sound during the entire time. She did make a face at the nurse but that was it. Not one little peep.

3 days old

Sophie and I were able to come home from the hospital on Tuesday. We had to stay there for a few days so that they could check on me. The labor and delivery was hard on both of us.
On Wednesday Wes had to bring Sophie back to the hospital to get her billy reuben test done again. It was high and the doctor just wanted to make sure she was okay. We took this picture of her in her cradle. It was suggested that we leave lights on her all night to get her skin color back to normal. So we put one of our lamps on a chair next to her cradle.
She has been having a hard time sleeping in her cradle. But we have found that it works if we snake a blanket around her. She looks pretty comfy in this picture but it didn't last very long.

Brand Spankin New

Happy Birthday Sophie!

She is finally here. Our daughter was born June 22nd, 2008 at 11:50am. Sophie Rose weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 19 inches long. We are so grateful that she is finally here. Today is actually her due date. She was ready to come and it was a little unexpected. We will try and post some pictures of her later. But mom and baby are doing okay. We are still trying to recover.

Beautiful Rose Bouquet

Tonight I went out and made this beautiful rose bouquet. I love the smell of all the different kinds of roses. We also have some babies breath that I like to put in as well. What do you think? It would be fun to make bouquets as a living. I find that it is very peaceful and I can use as many flowers as I want to. ~Jessica

After finding out how many people had my name I decided to look up Wesley's. There are only 4 people in the U.S. with his name. No fair!

Also here are some interesting facts about our names. There are 745,476 people named Jessica and it is the 61st most popular first name. Then there are 159,745 people named Wesley and it's the 378th most popular name. I found this interesting that 6,907 people have the last name of Womble. Thanks Katy for posting this so we could find out interesting facts.

Stop and smell the Roses

On the south side of our house we have about 10 rose bushes. They usually start blooming about now and last until October. Don't they look pretty? I know the yellow pink one is called a Peace Rose, but I'm not sure about the other one.

Getting Ready

We decided to do a ladybug theme in her room. My mom and I made that mobile in the corner out of those paper lanterns. We just hung them from the ceiling with ribbon.
Look at all those clothes! I had no idea babies needed so many things. Thanks to everyone who has given us so many things at baby showers. It's much appreciated.

We are planning on hanging this above her changer. We found those magnetic letters and added the ladybug on the letter O. Doesn't it look cute?
* I am finding myself more and more ready for this baby to come. Especially when I was up all night with contractions. ( Which I am pretty sure was just those darn Braxton Hick ones). I go to the doctor today to see how everything is coming along. Last week he told us that he doesn't expect her late. Either early or on her due date. We are hoping that she comes early. But it is totally up to her.

It's funny how you wait for 9 months to meet this baby and at first it doesn't seem quite real. Then now I'm to the point where any day would be fine for me. I'm amazed at how much I love her already and I haven't even met her.

We have her room already for her. As you can see from the pictures we decided to decorate with ladybugs. My mom and I also found these cool paper lanterns that we made a mobile out of. We found those ladybugs and attached them to the ends. We also got her car seat at a shower with my family on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who went in on it for us.

That's about all that is going on in our lives. Just waiting and trying to finish up some last minute projects before she comes.
