Enjoying the Outdoors

Sophie just learned how to drink from a straw! Juice boxes were a must on our outing.

Can you see that fish all the way over there? What a handsome fisherman. :)

The Gardens

Every year we go to Thanksgiving Point Gardens with Karla. I'm amazing that all the flowers are in bloom here. It was beautiful!

Thanks Tom and Karla!

Happy Birthday Mom

Dear Mom,

Do you remember when I played soccer and I told you the other players didn't have very good manners? You were so understanding.
Do you remember when I wanted to make things and learn how to sew? Thanks for teaching me how to sew and how to be a homemaker.
Do you remember when we'd go boating and everyone else would want to ski and wakeboard? All I wanted to do was swim and be in the water. Thanks for bringing me swimming and for sharing your love of water with me.
Do you remember when I got married? You were so happy and supportive of my decision. I enjoyed those late night talks about life. Thanks for setting such a great example for me to look up to.
Do you remember when I had Sophie? You were over everyday that summer. Thanks so much for helping and teaching me how to be a mother. But above all thank you for being you!
Happy Birthday! I will always remember the lessons you have taught me. I'm so grateful to be your daughter, I love you!

Sidewalk Chalk

For Easter we got some sidewalk chalk, this was the first time we tried it out.
I love this picture! "What do we do with this stuff?"
We tried this method but didn't have much success
Eventually we got the hang of it and had a blast!
(Thanks Grandma Jewel!)

Grandma Jewel's House

We love being at Grandma Jewel's house. Especially because she has a a big girl bed with railings. Now I just wish Sophie would be as excited about her big girl bed at home. But we are still working on it.

No more Pacifiers

I'd been lazy lately about Sophie's pacifier. Since she was sick for a few months I just let her have it whenever, all the time. About 2 weeks ago I just had it! I was sick and tired of her crying all day long fussing for her pacifier. So, I just decided to go cold turkey. We found them all and stashed them away in the cupboard. Things were going really well until she found them.

She thought if she said "Please" we would give her one....
But when Daddy wouldn't open the bag she looked at me...

Priceless. Her finding all 10 of them. I knew what she was thinking. "I knew it! I was wondering where these all went!"
Well, we made her throw them away. For a few days she kept looking in the garbage trying to find them. But they are long gone now.

The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Yesterday was one of those days. It reminded me of this book. "The Terrible, Horrible, No good, Very Bad Day." I think this just about sums up our day.
While visiting up north Sophie slept in a twin bed and LOVED it! So we decided to convert her crib into a toddler bed. After a long day of no naps and not staying in bed Mom needed a time out. I put Sophie in her room so I could cool off and 15 minutes later this is what I opened the door to.

At first I just thought she was sitting in there.
But then I found out she was fast asleep...... in her stroller.
Exactly like this. Holding her scraped knee. ( She was upset that I put a bandaid on it and she was trying to pull it off but was so dang tired she fell asleep.)

She prefers the stroller that's off balance on top of her activity box over her soft cozy bed. Silly girl!

I'm hoping we don't have another Terrible, Horrible, No good, Very bad day anytime soon.
