Remastered and returned to the expanding 28mm Ion Age science fiction range are the original two terror robots known as Psycoborgs for the effect they have on Human troops. At 60mm tall these mechanical sentinels are heavily armed and very hard to stop. Unlike Maligs and Beotan Lyconthropes who rely on savagery and sheer numbers or the Legionaries who make use of skill these robots are silent in their actions.

Now with the restoration of the entire original range back to the website we are embarking on a raft of new infantry poses for the Prydians and the Shia Khan with something greatly asked for appearing in coming months...an entire platoon of them...

Five new Espaten Portable Weapon kits for 28mm Ion Age Range

“During the ancient Ban of Prejudice the Espaten was a powerful tool for support in the street fights which raged in underground cities across the Precinct.  In recent years the original gun has been present in all campaigns and it has been broadened as well.  To deal with Battlesuits and larger infantry formations as well as indirect fire missions there are now six variants.  These are  the same weapon systems as used by the new Havelock Type 57 being rolled out to Muster Regiments right now.” Academy Auto-Trainer Series 07, New Glastonbury, 4325IC

Now that we have restored all of the original 28mm Ion Age Range codes in the Prydian Army and added motive units to the existing gun platform as well as new gun teams for Retained Knights and Planetary Militia we have five, yes five, further portable weapon platforms now released.  These five take the 28mm range into line with the 15mm Ion Age Range for portable weapons.  The new codes are:

Each kit has a built in saving of ten percent as all the value packs in the range do.  They are composed of resin and metal pieces and are easy to assemble being approx 50mm by 40mm and 25mm tall.  They will go with any of the gun teams in the range.

Move your guns on the battlefield using IB77 Tracked Espaten Propulsion Unit or IB78 Anti Gravity Espaten Propulsion Unit.  These fit all the weapon platforms.

Ion Age 28mm range Portable Weapon Platform with gun teams released

“It is well known to the regiments of the Prydian Army that while Retained Knights armed with the Angis 12.5mm AP Rifle can inflict serious harm upon any opponent there is a limit to their ability to bring to suppress areas of a battlefield. This applies particularly in open ground rather than in intense urban fights. Even with Alwite powered armour larger weapons cannot be easily transported. No experienced commander expects his troops to be able to stand against these kinds of threats without appropriate support. This was known before the outbreak of the Civil War and the solution to providing this support to infantry was taken from surviving records from the time of the Ban of Prejudice. 

 

Beginning in earnest in 4320IC with forty newly fabricated Espaten being fielded during an activation crisis in the Gurtan system these portable weapons mounted a Moth 88 two barrel cannon and performed excellently against the rampant artificial sentients. With an ability to mount a support weapon in the same power scale as a battlesuit and be controlled by a team of two gunners Espaten's could be deployed at the Platoon or Lance level easily. A far lower fabrication cost has also contributed to the rapid uptake of portable weapons as a regimental staple. Portable Weapons are just that. With a lot of fire power and easy to move from threat to threat they work well with troopers without vehicles or anything larger to assist them.”

New and restored releases in the 28mm scale Ion Age Range. Some 250 poses in one of the biggest 28mm sci-fi ranges in the world we bring back the Portable Weapon (not available for more than 20 years!) and its original Muster gunners plus brand new Planetary Militia and Retained Knight gunners. Dark Elf Colour Party released and remastered Line and Gunners for Flintloque

“The Catalucian Army is split in two. Since Mordred signed the Treaty of Friendship with Mordred, many imperial regiments have flocked to the Elven banner. However, others still remain loyal to their King, and fight on the side of the now Grand Alliance. Years of neglect have left the Dark Elf army weak and disorganised. The Junta Council struggles to pay them, food is scarce, and but for a few notable exceptions, their training is almost non-existent. Keeping any form of cohesion and discipline within the ranks is near impossible. The Duke of Wheeling-Turn believes the normal Line Infantry to be incapable of standing their ground, and recent performances have provided proof that his belief has a solid foundation. It has to be said though that the Dark Elves have beaten the Ferach on a few occasions and they tie down a lot of Armoricans in tracking them down.” -

The World of Valon is a huge miniature range encompassing Flintloque as well as Slaughterloo and other titles set in the game world. Alternative Armies mantains not only new releases for the range but also remolding and remastering too across the twenty plus armies of the Mordredian Wars. While we do not tend to publically state this regular process we do on occasion and today is such a day. Alongside four brand new Dark Elves we have re-mastered the original line trooper poses and the gun crew too. Plus a line officer from an original code. For players of Slaughterloo we have 51521 Dark Elf Line with offers a unit of 20 with a saving or a section of 10 plus single trooper option. Composed of the new 51053 pack plus multiples of the troopers in the 51018 pack. As with all World of Valon codes we provide our resin cartouche style bases included for free. 

 

 

The new colour party sculpted by Sam Croes using the same parts as the original 51018 Regimenta del Nino Cisco so that the officer in a dashing pose of pistol and sword (excellent for duelling too) as well as the drummer, standard bearer and sergeant with a nasty halberd fit right in with the re-mastered troopers. Alongside the choice of single poses now in 51018 this is also the case in 51053 Dark Elf Colour Party too. 

 

As many long time customers know we often make new Flintloque releases from our 'asked list' with those things most requested being brought into miniature life ongoing. A command section for the Dark Elf Line was such an ask as was an officer to be used in many roles. 51007C Dark Elf Line Officer is the result. Taken from the original 51007 pack and remastered. 

 

 

51515 Dark Elf Artillery Crew: There is not as much in the way of guns among the Dark Elves as there is for the Army of Albion or the Ferach Empire to be sure but those crews who serve do tend to do so now much more well than before. Learning and surviving has led to nimble gunners. Remastered this artillery crew contains six poses of officer (51007c), gunner with musket plus gunners carrying ball, rammer, trailspike and match. Two limber horses are included. You can choose from the pack or a pair of horses on their own or a single random gunner.

The brand new releases for Flintloque and Slaughterloo this month give the big guns to the Legion de Nain.  Two versions of an artillery crew with limber beasts choosing limber boars or limber pigs.  The gunners with boars are above with 59527 Ferach Grand Howitzer.  The legion now has near seventy poses of Dwarf and you can read all about it on our blog using the Bier Wars TAB. Limber Boxes and Coiled Rope added to 28mm Battlefield Bits range

Our array of bits to add to your miniatures or their bases or to place upon the field of battle expands with three more pieces. Useful for Flintloque as well as Horse and Musket period two different limber boxes and a coil of rope. Go HERE for the range. 

 

Limber Boxes are used by Horse Artillery and by Foot Artillery to keep tools and other items safe during transit. Often the gun crew will sit upon the box as a kind of seat (having a padded lid makes it more comfortable) and of course you can use the boxes for other supplies. Perhaps a scenario objective. Coils of rope serve artillery and navy as well as being useful for bandits, thieves and lots of other uses. These three codes are metal miniatures 28mm scale and come as singles except for the rope which is a set of four. 

 

As well as many sprues of bits such as pots, papers, pies, pistols, tankards, feathers, carrots and more the Battlefield Bits range contains Tents and wheels plus limber and riding animals of many species. New 28mm Limber Boar and Limber Pig released

The World of Valon sees two new beasts this day with the release of limber versions of the Pummilig Pig and Boar both in resin.  These are the same animals used by the Dwarves as cavalry mounts and will work in any gun crew for the Confederation of Finklestein or Krautia for example.  The Limber Pig are now supplied with the Von Rotte Artillery Crew as well.  

You can of course get these animals on their own as well in any amount. To see these as well as all our other BATTLEFIELD BITS RANGE click through to the website. We have Boars, Pigs, Dodo, Camel, Horses, Hippos, Rhinos, Gnoll, Lizards, Bison and many more mounts and limber beasts.  Well worth a browse.

Back in May we replaced all of the metal boars and pigs with more characterful and larger resin versions.  You can see an example of this change above with the classic Uhlan von Krautia (the rider re-mastered) on the new Pummilig Pig.  Any rider who fit upon the metal mounts will fit the resin ones.

The Legion de Nain is developing into a full army and already has not only the original classic packs but full units of gun crew (above and now with the option to get them with horse, pig or boar limber beasts on the page) line, grenadiers, light infantry and specialist packs of Casualties and Veterans. HOT136 Savage Lizardmen crew and Catapult released

“They lower the rock into the cradle.  Sinews tighten and hides stretch as the weight takes its toll.  The enemy are far away but this will reach them. This will kill them.  Hissing in joy and whip cracking the crew release the torsion and death flies forth.”

Now released into the HOT 15mm Fantasy range the next two codes in our expanding Savage Lizardman Army.  The army grows and this artillery joins the Behemoth, Lizard Ogres and packs of warriors with polearms, swords and other weapons.  Every code is a full pack and also (if it contains more than one pose or miniature) a 'sampler' option giving one of each pose in the pack.  Ideal to test the range and for skirmishing in 15mm scale.

HOT136 Savage Lizardman Artillery:  This code contains one catapult kit and two 15mm scale Lizardmen crew in metal.  This is the same catapult as HOT136A and the crew are one with a large rock and another with whip.  Shown on 20mm square bases.  Supplied unassembled and unpainted.  You can choose from a pack or select the crew on their own or the artillery piece on its own.  Go HERE.

Finklestein Dwarf Gun Crew and Dwarf Messenger for Flintloque

The last news for the World of Valon this month sees us complete the mission of returning all of the classic Legion de Nain and Uhlans Krautia plus new animals for them to ride to the website and the Flintloque player base.  We present now the Finklestein Dwarf Artillery Crew plus by request a now single to buy Dwarf Messenger which can fit into any Confederation or Krautian collection.

52511 Finklestein Dwarf Artillery Crew: This code contains eight 28mm scale metal miniatures.  Useful as gunners for any of the tiny stattes and cities in the confederation there is an officer a rammer, ball, trail hook, match and satchel for six Dwarf gun crew.  There are also two identical limber horses.  This code will work with any of the cannons, howitzers and mortar in the artillery range for the game.  Part of this code was originally known as 52009 Artilliere Legion de Nain.  Comes supplied with resin cartouche bases for all miniatures.  Go HERE.

MRX23 Handbuchse Light Gun and Landsknect Crew 15mm released

Our last historical release of the month and event period is one which was requested by customers more than any other in our expansion of the 15mm Renaissance Range which supports Furioso the game system.  It is the Handbuchse Light Gun plus separate crew.  This follows up on our brand new Landsknecht command set releases earlier this week.  See the whole massive range of three hundred choices HERE.

15mm Scale Miniatures. This artillery pack contains a 16th century heavy rifled gun known as a 'Handbuchse' which was used mainly by Landsknechts but also by some others.  Static and hard to use and move it could prove useful.  The gun comes in two pieces and also with two gunners one with match and the other to hold the gun.  Crew are Landsknechts. One smaller artillery kit of 15mm Metal Miniatures from the Altuos range. 

This code is supplied unassembled and unpainted.  You can take a set or select the gunners only or the gun on its own in any quantity.  Go HERE.

56599 Von Mohnblume Artillery Crew released for Flintloque

Not far from the great city of Prest near the Bonhundian border with the Ostarian Empire is the small Dutchy of Von Mohlblume. A collection of towns and villages ruled by the young Duke Kurz Nase Von Mohlblume a cousin of the Emperor Klaffenhund. The dutchy is in a rare position in that it exists within the Empire but has some autonomy as long as it contributes troops to the war against the Ferach Empire. This protected position, far from any enemies, has bred a race of Dogmen with no natural foes.

Standing chest high to an Ostarian the Mohlblume are the smallest of the Dogmen to be found in Urop. They make up for this with a pugnacious attitude and stocky strength. Though in long marches they can often be heard wheezing as they try to keep up with the other battalions. They are uniformed and armed by their own depots as they find typical Ostarian equipment too large. The Duke has led his regiments against Mordred’s marshals in several campaigns and also against the Confederation of Finklestein in the vicious Haarausfall War. Which, though only weeks in duration, saw great losses against the Legions de Nain. Confederation forces were defeated in the Battle of Kleine Beine but in the effort there was much slobbering and passing of gas in the Pug ranks.

Brand new miniatures for Flintloque and Slaughterloo with the release of the Pug Dogmen gun team and horses adding to the forces of Ostaria and the Confederation of Finklestein.  Above you see the new Von Mohnblume Artillery Crew using the 59527 Ferach Grand Howitzer as well as supported by troops of the Von Mohnblume Line.  Who are they firing upon?  That is up to you but perhaps it is the Dwarves of Krautia.

This set contains 28mm metal miniatures an officer with Sword and five different poses of Dogmen all with artillery equipment plus two limber horses. Dwarf sized 'Pug' type Dogmen standing around 23mm tall.  For use with any suitable artillery piece.  See them HERE.

Gunners support the line infantry in their advance upon the foe and with short legs and a snuffling hard breath while marching these Pug Soldiers are a great addition to your forces.  See them HERE with new photographs. Mad Pudigroan Dogman by Edward Jackson.  This month at Alternative Armies we working on many things behind the scenes which you will see from March onwards but that does not mean we have nothing to offer across February oh no.  We have a classic Flintloque box set re-mastered and returning with new pictures and single pose choices.  We will have a full full size Valentines themed scenario to go with it and a tie in with Orcs in the Webbe.  A new fantasy race comes to Valon from the hands of John Bell adding to the Frontear range.  A new pack and singles for Sengoku as we continue with the next set.  Renaissance 15mm new releases with more Landsknechts but these fellows do not walk into the battle.  The Grey Army gets a new code in the HOF Range which will lend some strength to these 15mm aliens.  Plenty of tabletop fun and it looks like the print run of Advanced Laserburn is about to run out so we will arrange for its replacement too.  All this news will come in our email and on our blog and social media this month.
