Who and what are the Ikwen?

"If you are new to the Ikwen or its been a while, let me introduce you to a race that is fighting for its own freedom and the preservation of its species. Envisioned as a range of miniatures to represent one side of an asymmetric conflict the Ikwen are intended to be pitted against any other species or faction 15mm players might have in their collections. To this end, the miniatures are depicted with mostly mid-tech weaponry, the sort that might be cobbled together or acquired in great numbers from sources outside the conflict much in the same way that we see the AK-47 used in modern day warfare. I have worked hard to make sure the Ikwen show some sort of specific culture in their sculpts, even if that is just the minimal cloths they wear between their legs and the sorts of gear they carry. Any chance of seeing these Ikwen painted up and in scale shots? Yes!  That is in progress right now. Our lead designer Sam Croes (prime sculptor of the 15mm Ion Age range) and professional figure painter is brushing up a full array of the new codes.  Once these are complete we will show you the results.

How about some rules for Ikwen? While the miniatures in the Loud Ninja Games range can be used with any game system you want Alternative Armies we will have an article with game rules for Iwken in Patrol Angis.  If you fancy pitting them against the Prydians, the Khanate or the Prang you will be able to. What else is in the Loud Ninja Games range? Loud Ninja Games Event twenty percent off entire range and tell us your desires!

Manufactured in Scotland under license by Alternative Armies is the boutique 15mm range created by Eli Arndt called Loud Ninja Games.  This range of more than forty codes contains firm favourites among the 15mm science fiction wargaming community.  

From the Chuhuac Space Raptors to the Yandrassi Empire as well the Ikwen and Wasteland Mutants it is full of original ideas.  For the next week until 9am GMT Monday 11th February 2019 we have taken twenty percent (20%) off the entire LNG range (not the already discounted bundles such as the Archon Mecha kits) of packs.  Have a browse and see what you like HERE.

One possible avenue of expansion is the Yandrassi Empire.  The Yandrassi in an interstellar empire made up of dozens of species presided over by the enigmatic and unseen, Yan. While most of these species contribute to the collective through economic means, several species make their contribution through military service. The bulk of the military is made up of the diminutive Neeks and the martial Tavshar. These aliens are supported by the brutish Horgosi.  Foremost among this empire's forces are the Tavshar Archons a series of sleek mecha.  Standing over 50mm tall with many pose options and head variants there are six different Archons including the Guardian armed with a massive energy sword and a shield.  What could be added to the miniatures in this part of the LNG Range?

Another possible route of growth is are the Ikwen.  Plucky aliens resisting a superior alien invasion of their home world Kwiell.  Armed with what they can create and also steal in a guerilla war the Ikwen have an infantry platoon as well as some superior fighters and terrain as well as wild beasts and farm animals.  There is plenty of scope for the Ikwen to grow.  More foot soldiers and perhaps some cavalry too and portable weapons.  Who are they fighting against and have any of those aliens come in person to help the Ikwen?  What could be added to the miniatures in this part of the LNG Range?

Lastly perhaps some more odd and weird codes could be set in motion such as those in the Alien Encounters and Wasteland Mutants.  There are Road Wardens, Rad Zombies and Wasteland Raiders as well as the Terrorclops and the Buddies.  Super Mutants with strange mental powers too.  What else could be brought to the post apocalyptic world as part of the LNG Range?

New Ikwen animals and weapons 15mm releases from Loud Ninja Games

Back in November a new pack of 15mm Ikwen Hardened Fighters were released by Loud Ninja Games and now these are backed up with three more packs for the Ikwen world of Kwiell sculpted by Eli Arndt.  A weapons sprue for conversions and to add to scenics plus two packs of native animal life which are great for any 15mm scale system. RAP039 Silt Pigs of Kwiell

Aliens invaded the primitive world of Kwiell for its resources and got into several wars with the native Ikwen.  One of the prime animal sources of food for the Ikwen are the Silt Pigs and aliens favour them too.  Heavy and ponderous they are dangerous if taken on unarmed with clawed feet and spines upon their backs. This pack contains three miniatures which are a rearing up adult Silt Pig (1), a walking Silt Pig (2) and a base of Silt Piglets (3) in 15mm scale white metal.  These go excellently with Ikwen infantry and scenery codes.  All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.  You can also select singles from this page on the page. 2.50GBP.

RAP040 Small Animals of Kwiell

Aliens invaded the primitive world of Kwiell for its resources and got into several wars with the native Ikwen.  There are scavengers and other animals which pry on Silt Pigs as well as unwary Ikwen and even alien invaders. This pack contains three miniatures which are Thrask which is a fast running ambusher (1), two different Rock Crawlers, one with a shorter shell (2) and a longer shell (3) all in 15mm scale white metal.  These go excellently with Ikwen infantry and scenery codes.  All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.  You can also select singles from this page on the page. 1.00GBP.

RAP040 Ikwen Weapons Sprue

The desert world fighters of the Ikwen are hardy aliens who are fighting to free their world from invaders from outerspace.  They do this with a mix of weapons made by themselves or bought from off world.  This 15mm white metal sprue contains the typical weapons of the Ikwen miniatures (RAP016,RAP017,RAP018 and RAP037) we have.  Add them to your Ikwen fighters or use them for conversions or scenic items.  They are from left to right: Rocket Launcher, Long Melee Weapon, Light Machine Gun, Assault Rifle and Melee Weapon.  Five pieces supplied unpainted and unassembled.  1.00GBP.

RAP037 Ikwen Hardened Fighters

Over a generation ago, the planet Kwiell was set upon by aliens bent on exploiting the natural resources of the planet. The planet’s native population, the Ikwen, found themselves suddenly enslaved and their society rocked as they were enslaved, put to work and in many cases hunted and killed. The Ikwen have spent decades in frustrated servitude to these invading overlords. We see them as very much freedom-fighting indigenous life forms, use them as alien invaders, allies, mercenaries or even lower tech indigenous forces for more organized warfare. This pack contains (6) six different 15mm scale white metal miniatures armed with a mix of blades and pistols.  Excellent melee soldiers and Ikwen leaders.

RAP038 Zthruk 

This pack contains one 15mm scale white metal miniature. This beast stands 20mm tall to the head and can be used as a creature for any alien world or as an ally of the Ikwen. The Zthruk is a very powerful animal with a vicious temper which are hunted by the Ikwen while a few of the most noble Ikwen ride them into battle.
