Are rangefinders just point-and-shoot snapshitters with slightly more adjustability? I'm entertaining the idea of a smaller film camera but looking at pics taken by them and what they offer they seem like a glorified p&s. Am I missing something here?

I recently found this pic on a USB stick and the exif said it was from 12 years ago. It had never been processed and was just a red rectangle. I was on top of some mountain because there's a recording studio there. It was late afternoon, in Oct and a deep blue sky. What surprised me about this is if you look to the left of the pole sticking up, you can clearly see the Big Dipper in broad daylight.
Hello /p/I saved a RX100 M7 from the bin after customer returned it without it's box and accessories.I know it’s not a pro camera with fancy lenses and such, but is it good? I have never created a piece of art that I like. I never came back to anything I did months later and thought to myself "hey, this is neat".I can't use my hands to create shit. I can draw geometric shapes. I have nice handwriting. I can play open chords and bar chords on guitar. But that's where my physical skill set ends.I picked up a camera because my hands are no good. Only to realize that it's probably not my hands, it's my brain. I have little to no visual imagination. Post photos you have taken overseas… I want to save up to go to Bamberg and Bavaria, but I’m in Australia which is probably the most expensive place to travel into Europe. But I want to get inspired while I save my money. Any European anons who have travelled across Europe for cheap?

This gets worse the more touristy the city. For example my hotel in Stockholm cost 2/3rds what a worse room in Rome would have cost. Despite Italy having a lower cost of living. In Eastern Europe/Balkans this drops even more and typically you can see similar things to what you would in the West. For example Croatia has lots of Roman ruins (much like Italy), Poland has a lot of Hanseatic and Dutch influenced architecture and so on. I haven't done the maths on it but it genuinely might be cheaper to stay in Bratislava then get the train to Vienna for a day than to stay in Vienna.Also going to more obscure places probably helps reduce the habit of just taking the same tourist photo as everyone else. I have noticed that when I feel sad, that completely changes my photography. I then take more photos and I actually care for once. I live under the same conditions in the northern part of the planet which means little activity, little light, but a lot of nature which gets boring quickly. Closest city which is rather small does not have any interesting infrastructure either as it was all bombed in the last Jew-war, so only cement buildings from the 50s is what I have to work with. I have adapted to these conditions by focusing on things that are unique instead of copying others. What I do is look for things and structures that are decayed and rotten and plan my shots in terms of lighting and seasonal changes. I have taken a couple of photos I am very proud of. I'd rather take a few bangers than a lot of city snapshits that everybody has seen variations of before.

I literally live in a 3rd world village and I have taken thousands of photos. Here's what I did: searched for photographers(all of them are from 20th century and from different countries) everywhere which worked in similar landscape to mine and mimicked their shit until I developed my own style. I also took deep dive into local history of my village and surrounding areas so lots of cool and obscure things came up.
