Vintage Canning Jars

In working on my New Year's Resolution of
"A place for everything and everything in its place",
I wanted to find a place for my collection of old
canning jars.  They've been in a box in my studio for
a couple of years now and I knew I either needed to
display and enjoy them or let them go!

Knowing that they look best with light shining through them,
I decided to put the second shelf in my garden window that
I hadn't used yet.  I was afraid it would look too crowded,
but it looks pretty good!  And it gives me that spot for
the jars that I needed.  I think the remainder of my
collection is going to be used in the pantry, so maybe
I won't have to let go of any just yet.

I'm liking the way they look with my vintage
planter collection, too!

A Charging Station

For a while now we've needed a spot near the inside
garage door for The Mister to throw his keys and wallet.
He also needed a designated area to charge his iPad
and cell phone!  When the parakeets died a couple of
months ago, I knew I wanted to turn that corner
into a spot to meet those needs.

This is in our family room and there is a door beside the
staircase that leads out to the garage.
And this is also where the chalk board ended up!
The table came yesterday and I had fun putting it together
and lugging it to the back of the house. haha.
The bamboo charging station came from ebay.
It has a well in the bottom to house all the cords.
The lamp and table are from overstock.com.
Now.....what to do with the bird cage!
It's big, beautiful and on it's own stand.
If I had a spot for it or a creative way to use it,
I would be more likely to keep it.
So whether it stays or goes is still to be decided!
For now, I'm loving the way this corner turned out!
It's another check on my resolution of 'a place for
everything and everything in its place'.  Yay.

Displaying Colored Glass

I've seen several interior decorators display their
colored glass in a rainbow pattern lately.
It's very effective in drawing your attention to the
color groups so I thought I'd give it a try while I
dusted and cleaned inside my display cabinets.

It's not a strict ROYGBIV, so it might drive the scientific minded
a little crazy.  But for us artistic souls, it's just fine.
Besides, I didn't have any orange or purple. haha.
