Anaal Nathrakh/When Fire Rains Down From The Sky, Mankind Will Reap As It Has Sown/Metal Blade Records/2021 EP Re-Issue Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  United  Kingdom's  Anaal  Nathrakh  which  continues  their  mixture  of  black  metal,  grindcore  and  industrial  from  their  previous  releases  and  the  ep  was  originally  released  in  2003  and  called  "When  Fire  Rains  Down  From  The  Sky,  Mankind  Will  Reap  As  It  Has  Sown"  which  will  be  re-issued  on  August  13th,  2021  by  Metal  Blade  Records. 

  A  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  elements  of  grindcore  can  also  be  heard  when  the  music  speeds  up.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  industrial  touches.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  small  amount  of  melody  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  Most of  the  music  also  sticking  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  musical  direction  along  with  the   guitar  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  style  when  they  are  utilized  and  as  the  ep  progresses  the  vocals  also  start  mixing  in  a  more  grim  approach  as  well  as  the  closing  track  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  vocals.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  religion,  misanthropy  and  nihilism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Anaal  Nathrakh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cataclysmic  Nihilism"  and  "Atavism".  8  out  of  10.

Anaal Nathrakh/Hell Is Empty, And All The Devils Are Here/Metal Blade Records/2021 CD Re-Issue Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  an  older  recording  from  United  Kingdom's  Anaal  Nathrakh  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  grindcore  and  industrial  and  the  album  was  originally  released  in  2007  and  called  "Hell  Is  Empty,  And  All The Devils  Are  here"  which  will  be  re-issued  on  August,  13th  by  Metal  Blade  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  industrial  style  beats  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  distorted  yet  melodic  style.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  riffing  as  well  as  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  part  as  well  as  some  tracks  also  adding  in  some  angry  shouts  and  death  metal  growls  that  also  have  their  guttural  moments.

  On  this  recording  Anaal  Nathrakh  remained  true  to  their  mixture  of  black  metal,  grindcore  and  industrial  from  their  previous  releases  as  well  as  adding  in  more  death  metal  elements  to  take  their  sound  to  a  different  level.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  armageddon,  misanthropy,  nihilism,  philosophy  and  anti  authoritarian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Anaal  Nathrakh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Screaming  Of  The  Unborn"  "Shatter  The  Empyrean"  "Genetic  Noose"  and  "Castigation  And  Betrayal".  8  out  of  10.

Anaal Nathrakh/The Codex Necro/Metal Blade Records/2021 CD Re-Issue Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  United  Kingdom's  Anaal  Nathrakh  which  shows  their  early  mixture  of  black  metal,  grindcore  and  industrial  and  the  album  was  originally  released  in  2001  and  called  "The  Codex  Necro"  and  the  re-issue  will  be  released  by  Metal  blade  Records  in  June  of  2021.

  Industrial  elements  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  All  of  the  drum  beats  are  programmed  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  some  of  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  the  brutality  of  grindcore.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the  vocals  also  getting  very  deep  and  demonic  sounding  at  times.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  some  touches  of  death  metal,  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  introduces  clean  vocals  and  movie  samples  onto  the  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Armageddon,  Misanthropy,  Nihilism,  Philosophy  and  Anti  Authoritarian  themes.

Anaal Nathrakh/Total Fucking Necro/Metal Blade Records/2021 Compilation Album Re-Issue Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  compilation  album  from  United  Kingdom's  Anaal  Nathrakh  which  was  originally  released  in 2000  and  consists  of  their  self  titled  and  "Total  Fucking  Necro"  demos  which  where  originally  released  in 1999  and  2000  and  shows  their  early  raw  black  metal  style and  the  compilation  will  be  re-issued  in  June  by  Metal  Blade  Records.

  Spoken  word  and  move  samples  which  also  appear  on  later  tracks  start  off  the  compilation  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  some  distorted  amp  noises  and  industrial  elements  as  well  as  also  adding  in  some  cover's  of  mayhem's  "Carnage"  and  "De  Mysterious  Dom  Sathanas".    

  On  this  compilation  Anaal  Nathrtakh  played  more  of  a  raw  and  aggressive  style  of  black  metal  and  avoided  the  grindcore  elements  that  where  more  dominate  on  later  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Armageddon,  Misanthropy  and  Nihilism  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collection  from  Anaal  Nathrakh  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  fast,  aggressive  and  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Anaal  Nathrakh"  "The  Supreme  Necrotic  Audnance"  "L.E.T.H.A.L  Diabolic"  and  "Necrogeddon".  8  out  of  10.

Anaal Nathrakh/Endarkenment/Metal Blade Records/2020 CD Review

 

  United  Kingdom's  Anaal  Nathrakh  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  mixture  of  black  metal and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Endarkenment"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Metal  Blade  Records.

  A  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Vocals  also  bring  in  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams,  angry  shouts  and  clean  singing.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  the  brutality  of  grindcore.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of the musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Symphonic  sounds  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  album  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  guttural  sounding  death  metal  growls  into  the  music,  as  the album  progresses  elements  of  prog  metal  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  superstition  and  ignorance  themes.

Anaal Nathrakh/A New Kind Of Horror/Metal Blade Records/2018 Full Length Review

  United  Kingdom's  Anaal  Nathrakh  have  returned  with  a  new  album  which  continues  their  mixture  of  black  metal,  industrial  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "A  New  Kind  Of  Horror"  which  will  be  released  on  September  28th  by  Metal  blade  Records.

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  used  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  chaotic  yet  melodic  style  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  can  be  heard.

  High  pitched  black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  some  clean  vocals  also  being  utilized  at  times  while  the  songs  also  bring  in a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  good  amount  of  symphonic  and  industrial  elements,  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  as  the  album  progresses  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  On  this  recording  Anaal  Nathrakh  adds  more  symphonic  and  death  metal  elements  to  their  mixture  of  black  metal,  industrial  and  grindcore,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  horrors  of  the  first  world  war,  contemporary  politics  and  the  letters  of  D.H  Lawrence. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Anaal  Nathrakh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Obscene  As  Cancer"  "New  Bethlehem/Mass  Death  Furies"  "Mother  Of  Satan"  and  "Are  We  Fit  For  Glory  Yet?(The  War  To  End  Nothing)".  8  out  of  10.

Anaal Nathrakh/Desideratum/Metal Blade Records/2014 CD Review

  Anaal  Nathrakh  have returned  with  a  new  recording  that  continues  the  mixture  of  melodic  black  metal  and  brutal  grindcore  of  the  previous  recordings  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Desideratum"  which  will  be  released  on  October  28th  by  Metal  blade  Records.

  Dark sound  effects  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  elements  of  harsh  noise  before  adding  in  heavy  guitars  with elements  of  electronic  music  which  also  takes  the  music  into  more  of  a  modern  metal  direction  as  well  as  adding  in  some  melodic  guitar  leads  and  on  the  second  track  the  music  starts  going  for  more  of  a  fast  black  metal  direction  along  with  some  high  pitched  screams.

  A  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  vocals  utilizing  a  good  mixture  of  melodic  clean  singing  on  some  tracks  and  black  metal  screams  as  well  as   a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  being  used  at  times  and  the  band  also  adds  a  great  amount  of  melody  into  the  solos  and  leads  and  they  also  mix  in  the  electronic  music  elements  in  with  their  black  metal  sound.

  As  the  album  progresses  the  music  starts  having  more  of  an  atmospheric  black  metal  feeling  that  is  a  lot  more  closer   to  the  more  mainstream  side   of  the  genre  while  the  faster  parts  bring  in  elements  of  brutal  grindcore  along  with  some  deep  death  metal  growls  being  utilized  at  times  and  on  one  of  the  later  tracks  you  can  hear  a  small  amount  of  punk  and  hardcore  being  added  into  the  bands  musical  style.

 Anaal  Nathrakh  continue  the  foundations  they  have  established  on  previous  recordings  keeping  the  music  very  heavy,  chaotic  and  melodic  while  also  experimenting  more  with  the  electronic music  elements  they  brought  onto  the  last  recording  as  well  as  adding  in  some  modern  metal  elements  which  I  do not  care  about  but  other  than  that this  album  is  a  very  good  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  annihilation  and  Armageddon  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  decent  sounding  recording  from  Anaal  Nathrakh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Unleash"  "A  Firm  Foundation  Of  Unyielding  Despair"  "Idol"  and  "Ita  Mori".  7/5  out  of  10.

Anaal Nathrakh/Vanitas/Candlelight Records/2012 CD Review

  Anaal  Nathrakh  are  a  band  from  the  U.K  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  with  their  music  style  being  a  mixture  of  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  black  metal  mixed  with  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Vanitas"  which  was  released  by  Candlelight  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  samples  which  are  only  utilized  briefly  they  bring  in  elements  of  dub  step  and  experimental  into  the  music.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  utilize  a  great  amount  of melody,  death  metal  and  grindcore  influences  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  creating  a  hybrid  of  the  three  genres,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  and  melodic  sounding  extreme  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals range  from  high  pitched  black  metal  screams,  deep  death/grind  growls  and  clean  singing,  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  hateful  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  album  from  Anaal  Nathrakh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Blood  Dimmed-Tide"  "Todos  Somos  Humanos"  "Make  Glory  The  Embrace  Of  Saturn"  and  "Of  Fire  And  Fucking  Pigs".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Anaal Nathrakh/Passion/Candlelight Records/2011 CD Review

 Anaal Nathrakh are a band from the U.K that plays a very chaotic form of black metal with a grindcore edge and have a long history and this is a review of their 2011 album "Passion" which will be released by Candlelight Records.

Drums range from mid paced to fast playing with a lot of brutal blast beats, while the bass playing is mixed down low in the mix and seems to follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, a for the noise effects they add a feel of Armageddon to the music.

Rhythm guitars range from mid paced to fast black metal riffs with some grindcore influences and melodic parts mixed in with a lot of distorted effects, while the lead guitars are very chaotic sounding guitar solos that have a death metal feel to them.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams that have a grindcore feel to them at times, some deep death metal growls with some clean singing vocals, while the lyrics cover annihilation and Armageddon, as for the production it has a very heavy, powerful and professional feel to it.

In my opinion this is another good album from Anaal Nathrakh and if you where a fan of their previous releases, you will not be disappointed. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Drug-Fucking Abomination" "Locus Of Damnation" "Paragon Pariah" and "Ashes Screaming Silence". RECOMMENDED BUY.
