Nivh/Sivy Zmork/2022 Single Review

 

  Nivh  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  Belarus  and  Russia  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  more  of  an  atmospheric  style  of  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  single  "Sivy  Zmork".

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  single  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  song  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  are  mostyl  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that  also  get  deep  at  times,  clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly while  the  track  also  adds  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  they  also  add  in  both  vocal  and  instrumental  versions  of  the  same  song.

  On  this  recording  Nivh  brings  in  more  of  an  atmospheric  style  of  post  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  nature  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  Nivh  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  post  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  8  out  of  10.

Nivh/2021 Singles Review

 

  Nivh  are  an  international  band  with  embers  from  Belarus  and  Russia  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2021  singles  "Ichara"  and  "Marmar"  which  also  contains  both  vocals  and  instrumental  versions  of  the  songs.

  

   "Ichara"

   Folk  instruments  start  off  the  song  along  with  some  atmospheric  sounds  in  the  background  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  death  metal  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times.  the  riffs,  guitar  leads  and  solos  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody,  clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  most  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slower  direction  and  the  second  track  is  an  instrumental  version  of  the  song  reviewed.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  history  and  legends  of  Mother  Earth.

  "Marmur"

  Acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  song  while  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  at  times.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  a  few  growls  and  clear  singing  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  second  track  is  an  instrumental  version  of t he  previous  reviewed  song.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  history  and  legends  of  Mother  Earth.

  In  my  opinion  Nivh  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  these  singles.  8  out  of  10.
