Furze/Cosmic Stimulation Of Dark Fantasies/Devoted Art Propaganda/Polytriad Fingerprints/2024 Full Length Review

Norway's  Furze  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  psychedelic  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Stimulation  Of  Dark  Fantasies"  which  will be   released  in  November  as a  joint  effort  between  Devoted  Art  Propaganda  and  Polytriad  Fingerprints.

Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  introducing  psychedelic  style  soundscapes  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Elements  of  doom  metal  are  also  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  recording  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  more  of  an  old  school  style  along  with  some  keyboards  also  being  utilized  at  times,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  album  also  having  its  experimental  moments.  Clear  singing  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  as  well  as  most  of  the  music  sticking  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction,  the  closing  song  is  also  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  cosmic  exploration  of  the  dead,  existential  dread  and  the  allure  of  the  forbidden.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Furze  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  psychedelic  black  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Beautiful  Living  On  The  Left  Hand  Of  Death"  and  "Marrow  Creed".  8  out  of  10.

Furze/Caw Entrance/Devoted Art Propaganda/2024 Full Length Review

Norway's  Furze  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  old  school  and  psychedelic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Caw  Entrance"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Devoted  Art  Propaganda.

Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction  while  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  psychedelic  sounding  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  The  album  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  second  wave  touches  along  with  some  elements  of  doom  metal  also  being  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  tracks.

Synths  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  tracks  also  adding  in  small  amount  of  guitar  solos  and  leads,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  clear  vocals  are  also  added  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Blasphemy  and  Abstract  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Furze  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  psychedelic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Foresee  His  Infernal  Rites"  and  "Avail  The  Autocrat  of  Evil".  8 out  of  10.

Furze  are  a  solo  project  from  Norway  that h as  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  an  occult  style  of  black  metal  with  some  elements  of  thrash,  doom  and  progressive  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2021  ep  "Black  Psych  Tormentor"  which  will  be  released  on  October  22nd  by  Apocalyptic Empire  Records.

Clean  playing  starts  off  the  ep  while  keyboards  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  progressive  sounding  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  psychedelic  yet  extreme  style.  Some  of  the  riffing  also  shows  an  influence  of  thrash  metal  along  with  some  elements  of  doom  metal  also  being  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs.

Evil  laughter  can  also be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a r aw  feeling  as  well  as  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  the  vocals  also  start  mixing  in  a  more  grim  approach  as  the  ep  progresses  and  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  themes.

Furze/Psych Minus Space Control/Fysisk Format/2012 CD Review

Furze are a band from Norway that has had one of their previous albums reviewed before in this zine with a musical style that I would describe as being occult black metal mixed with some doom metal and psychedelic rock and this is a review of their 2012 album "Psych Minus Space Control" which was released by Fysisk Format.

Drums range from slow, mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the sound effects and synths bring in psychedelic space rock elements to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful tone with black/doom metal riffing that dominates throughout the recording.

Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced riffs that combine the darkest elements of black, doom and classic rock together along with some dark sounding melodies being thrown along with some weird distorted parts into the riffing in addition the songs are very long, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very distorted sounding guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use full chords to add another dimension of darkness to the music.

Vocals are all grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams when they are utilized as well as a brief use of clean singing being utilized on the last song which is rare since most of the music is improv and instrumental, while the song themes cover Luciferian, Occult and Psychedelic themes, as for the production it has a very heavy and dark sound to it.

In my opinion this is another great recording from Furze and while it might be a little too experimental for the more hardcore fans< I still feel this is a great recording and if you are a fan of experimental improv black/doom metal you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Occult Soul, With Mind" and "Triad Of Lucifer". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Furze/UTD/Agonia Records/2007 CD Review

Furze are a 1 man band from Norway that plays a very raw and primitive form of Norwegian satanic black metal mixed in with some doom metal influences and this is a review of their 2007 album "UTD" which was released by Agonia Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very strong and tone with riffs that dominate throughout the recording as for the sound effects when they are utilized they bring a very dark and avant garde sound to the music.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast Norwegian style black metal riffs that mix in a lot of doom and thrash metal influences and weird style riffing along with some dark sounding melodies and a brief use of clean playing, while the lead guitars are very raw, chaotic, weird and distorted sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some deep growls, whispers, spoken word parts and clean singing, while the lyrics cover satanic and abstract themes with one song being written in Norwegian, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Furze are a very great weird sounding and original sounding Norwegian satanic black metal band with a doom metal edge and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Life About My Sabbath" "Demonic Order In The Facist's Hall" and "Goatbreath". RECOMMENDED BUY.
