Winterblut are a solo project from Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very dissonant and disharmonic form of experimental form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Monotot" which will be released in May by Nihilistische KlangKunst.
Clean playing starts off the album along with some drum beats a few seconds later before going into more of a heavier musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the music also adds in a great amount of dissonant and disharmonic structures and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the tremolo picking during the faster sections of the songs also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the music also having its experimental moments, as the album progresses a small amount of growls can also be heard.
On this recording Winterblut adds more vocals into his disharmonic and dissonant approach to experimental black metal as well as adding in an improv style atmosphere at times. the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover Anti Christianity, Death and Abstract themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Winterblut and if you are a fan of dissonant and disharmonic experimental black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Monotot" "Aderlast" and "In verschlossener Gesellschaft". 8 out of 10.
