Vaina Interview

1.

Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new ep?

::::

Tapping, double tapping, long pressing, swiping and pinch-zooming...

...all secrets are not meant to be revealed

-+-+-+-+-+-

2.

You have a new album coming out in March, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

::::

If you listen our discography, you know the answer. Core has not really changed, but skin has been casted totally.

Maybe a more proper answer would be, that “Futue te ipsum” is a bastad son of "Purity" and "Viisikärki".

-+-+-+-+-+-

3.

You refer to your music as being 'untrendy black metal', can you tell us a little bit more about what this term means to you?

::::

It's provocative truth. Traditional black metal is untrendy. It's a bitty that almost none understands this anymore.

Great art is challenging. It's untameable. It raises questions. Black metal is a certain kind of mindset for us. Only horns, claws and hair, doesn't make a wolf.

We see it fascinating if rebels are able to siphon energy from beacon of chaos we are. After all, life and death is meant be looked as it is, like universe presents itself, without limiting the vision based on what other people are offering or constructs made by them are. After all, black metal is just a pair of words invented by a human being.

-+-+-+-+-+-

4.

What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with the newer release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

::::

"Viisikärki" is made by using left part of the brains. "Purity" is made using the right part. In the creation of "Futue te ipsum", we have used both brain parts.

-+-+-+-+-+-

5.

You also refer to 'Oppenheimer' in one of your songs, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this physicist and his work?

::::

It’s about the moment when you think you found immortality and became messiah. However the end-result was totally opposite. You just created pain and suffering.

As you might know, J. Robert Oppenheimer is credited as a father of the atomic bomb.

-+-+-+-+-+-

6.

Do the band members also have any interest in Occultism?

::::

Yes and no. We don't want to sound arrogant, but it depends of your definition of occult. In reality there is not this kind of separation between things. What is secret today, can be common tomorrow. Truth is formless. Nature knows no good and evil.  All is one. All is cycled. All is connected. All is eternal.

However I would say that we have ability to think. We discuss pretty much of all kinds of "real questions". Everyone should be interested of self development.

-+-+-+-+-+-

7.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

::::

It's paradox, manifestation of the unmanifestable. It's hypocrisy

too.

To be able open the all-seeing eye, one need to suffer.

-+-+-+-+-+-

8.

So far you have done one show, how would you describe your stage performance?

::::

Chaos in a golden ratio:

10% conscious, 30% subconscious, 60% unconscious.

Before the "nailing", we had some reversed meditation and our vessels was charged with unrelaxation. Fucked-upped spirit overdone was near. Things started to escalate.

Flesh and machine crumbled and the presence of the spirit was crushing. Our live appearance created unplanned havoc and let's say a portal to another dimension. It was obvious that our outcome was going to be hard to swallow. One third of the audience wasn’t ready to loose themselves and immerse, so they left the scene. Those who didn't found the exit from the venue, found hopefully exit from form and time.

Strong experiences can change human behaviour. We've been told that some witnesses has found a hidden appeal for such of a combo of torment and satisfaction, while others try not to stick their fingers on it.

-+-+-+-+-+-

9.

On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

::::

Worldwide feedback of our fans has been really overwhelming. Lots of views, thumbs, comments, shares, emojis and other spam.

To be honest, we don't really know. We are so unintegrated to the so-called "scene".

-+-+-+-+-+-

10.

Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

::::

We feel that it’s sometimes a problem when the audience can’t separate the creator and his/her creation. Focus goes too quickly to the creator and his/her output of soul is secondary. It's unrespectful to ask right after Virgin Mary has given birth to "messiah", what she’s going to do next. We don’t do waste. There’s no future. “Future te Ipsum” is right now. It’s our blood.

-+-+-+-+-+-

11.

What are you listening to nowadays?

::::

We've been listening ourselves: body, mind, intuition... however, maybe that's not the answer, you are looking for.

To not to state the obvious, let's pick up following bands/artists:

Saatkrähe, Nedxxx, His Divine Grace, Elend, Antti Tolva, Spektr, Ysengrin, Dead can dance, Cigarettes after sex, She past away, warpaint...

-+-+-+-+-+-

12.

Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

::::

If you still have some self-awareness (like our ancestors), you know that we are not our bodies and we are not our thoughts. We are what we are by nature. Someone could call it “soul” or “god”…etc. But the fact is, you can’t separate yourself from nature. In other words, we are the "nature", and that same "nature" is within everything. All began and end naturally to “nature”. This cycle is eternal.

If you hurt “nature”, you only hurt yourself. We should remember our origin. It’s the only "magic" we have.

Vaina/Futue Te Ipsum/Aesthetic Death/2022 Full Length Review

  Vaina  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  destabilizing  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Futue  Te  Ipsum"  which  will  be  released  in  March  by  Aesthetic  Death.

  Angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  playing,  dark  soundscapes  and  melodic  chants  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  technical  style  and  the  vocals  also  start  getting  more  high  pitched.

    Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Elements  of  industrial  can  also b e  heard  at  times  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Spoken  word  parts  are  also  added  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Synths  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  as  well  as  the  album  also  getting  very  experimental  sounding  at  times,  one  song  is  also  an  instrumental  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals c an  also b e  heard,  a  small  amount  of  clean  male  vocals  are  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  nihilistic,  occult,  spiritual  and  dystopian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Vaina  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Oppenheimer  Mωment"  "Yksikuisuus"  "Raping  Yer  Lilith"  and  "Minä  +  Se".  8  out  of  10.
