Akral Necrosis/The Greater Absence/Loud Rage Music/2020 CD Review

 

  Romania's  Akral  Necrosis  have  returned  with  a  new recording  which  shows  the music  going  for  more  of  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "The  Greater  Absence"  which  was  released  by  Loud  Rage  Music.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  yet  grim  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  tremolo  picking  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  chaotic  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  some  whispered vocal  also  being  utilized  briefly.

  One  track  also  introduces  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  recording  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  at  times  as  well  as  some  of  the  tracks  also  getting  more  longer  in  epic  in  length  as  the  album  progresses.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  a  character  obsessed  with  the  occult  and  who  discovers  a superficial  approach  towards  the  unknown  can  have  unexpected  consequences.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Akral  Necrosis  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Silent  Altar"  "Man  In  The  Cauldron" "Plaguebound"  and  "Damnatio  Memoriae".  8  out  of  10.

Akral Necrosis/Underlight/Loud Rage Music/2016 CD Review

  Akral  Necrosis  are  a  band  from  Romania  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  heavy  and  aggressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Underlight"  which  was  released  by  Loud  Rage  Music.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  after  a  few  seconds  high  pitched  screams  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording  while  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid paced  and  fast  parts.

  A  great  amount  of  morbid  sounding  melodies  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  starts  getting  utilized  more  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  focus  remains  more  on  a  heavy  and  raw  approach.

  Akral  Necrosis  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  on  this  recording  that  is  very  fast,  raw  and  aggressive,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  without  taking  away  from  the  aggression  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Akral  Necrosis  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  fast,  raw  and  aggressive  black  metal,  you should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "King  In  Yellow"  "Saturnian  Gallows" "Hounds Of  Plague"  and  "Underlight".  8  out  of  10.

Akral Necrosis/Marchosias/(Inter)Section/Loud Rage Music/2015 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Romania's  Akral  Necrosis  and  Marchosias  called  (Inter)Section"  which  was  released  by  Loud  Rage  Music  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Akral  Necrosis  a band  that  plays  a  very  heavy  and  modern  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  that  is  in  the  more  modern  style  of  the  genre  along  with  some  distorted  melodies  and  the  vocals  are  high  pitched  screams  that  also  use  a  touch  of  death  metal  growls  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

   When  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  and  they  also  bring  in  a  live  track  that also  uses  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  they  close  their  side  of  the  split  with  a  cover  of   Marchosias's  "The  Sacred  book".

  Akral  Necrosis  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  genre  while  still  being  very  true  to  the  tradition  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  Satanism  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Akral  Necrosis  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  heavy  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Separator".       

  Next  up  is  Marchosias  a  band  that  plays  an  experimental  form  of  occult  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split starts  out  with  a  very  heavy  death  metal  influenced  guitar  riff  along  with  a  blast  beats  being  utilized  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  music  and  after  awhile  high  pitched  black  metal.  screams  and  melodies  are  added  into  the  songs  along  with  some  growls  being  utilized  at  times  and  the  songs  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  bring  in  more  of  a  melodic  style  of  black  metal  and  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  at  times  while  also  always  keeping  everything  in a  heavy  direction and  they  close  their side  of  the  split  with  a  cover  of  Akral  Necrosis's  "Slay  the  Whore".

  Marchosias  plays  a  style  of  black  metal t hat  is  very  heavy  and  melodic  and  they  mix  it  in  with  elements  of  experimental  and  death  metal  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  on  their  side  of  the  split  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  Luciferianism,  Dark  Spirituality,  and  Self  Awareness  through  Religious  Concepts.

  In  my  opinion  Marchosias  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  mixture  of  occult  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "False  Prophet".

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  modern  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.
