Alright!  Kent's rolling out with the big guns now - well, the heavy cavalry in this case. Here we have two units of French cuirassiers ready to spread Liberte, Egalite and Fraternite - by the hoof or sword, take your pick.

From Kent:

Time put in another entry, this time it's 24 French cuirassiers. 

The back row are 12 Perry miniatures. These are for my collection and the front row are Front Rank and these are for a friend of mine. 25hrs of painting in these lot, they are all painted and based for 'Black Powder'.

25 hours of painting for this?! Jeez Louise, you are the 'Man With The Plan' when it comes to painting large units, Kent. This is seriously impressive - well done.

These 24 cavalrymen will give Kent 241 points with a bit added for the fine regimental standard. In two entries this put him neatly into second place - brilliant work Kent!

My last entry to a thoroughly enjoyable challenge. 28mm SYW Austrian Cuirassiers. 12 mounted figures by Front Rank.

These are a commission and are painted to my basic wargaming standard.

This is the final addition to a full army I painted a couple of years ago for my regular gaming buddy, Karl. It seems fitting I should finish with a commission. The O'Donell Cuirassiers.

I think you have done a fantastic job of running this Curt and I salute you. It was a pleasure to paint the Ronin for you and I hope you have fun using it in the future. I do hope you do this again and look forward to having another few months of madness.

You can almost hear the thunder of this unit of heavy horse. Wonderful stuff and a fitting conclusion to your run up the points roster.

O'Donell's Cuirassiers will give Kev 121 points. Well done sir, and thanks so much for contributing your fine work to the Challenge - it was a real pleasure and a feast for the eyes.

From IanW: 6mm Napoleonic French Cuirassiers (36 points)

Rust never sleeps, the submissions roll in and I happily post. Here we have another entry from Ian but this time its French Heavy Cavalry for his 6mm Napoleonic collection. 

From Ian:

These are Baccus 6mm French Cuirassiers, I bought them in one of their army packs about 15 months ago so they were overdue for painting. I purposely left these till the rest of the army pack was finished as I like to do the less prestigious units first. Given I really need these for Friday next week I thought I had best make these the next to be painted. I also wanted to show the more disciplined side to my painting as 6mm demands a better hand and as I have all the materials I need for basing I could do a better job on these fellows. 

We have 4 regiments of Frances finest, the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th Cuirassiers. Typical of Baccus we have some excellent sculps for detail. The usual negative is that they are riding ponies!! This is where Adler really outscore Baccus and hopefully before the end of the Challenge I will get more Adler to compare. Still they are fairly quick to paint up and arrive flash free.

Great work Ian! I'd be quite interested in seeing your rules for 6mm once they are ready for playtest.

These 36 cavalrymen will add a matching number of points to Ian's tally.

From KentG: 28mm English Civil War Cavalry (480 points)

Kent sends in this impressive entry of four regiments of English Civil War cavalry, 48 figures in total (!).

I'm not positive, but by the looks of them I believe all of these are 28mm Wargames Foundry castings.

There is one regiment of Cuirassier, two of Horse and one of Dragoons.

Again, such great quality matched with remarkable speed. I'm very envious, Kent!

This group will give him a whopping 480 points. Wow, bravo, well done Kent!

From DaveD: "I'm with the Band" 25mm Napoleonic French Cuirassier Regimental Band (180 points)

Dave sends in this marvellously quirky yet very cool entry depicting the regimental band of the 1er Regiment de Cuirassiers.

These are 25mm models sourced from Mirliton in Italy. If you enjoy historical vignettes I recommend you check these guys out as they have some very unique kits in their stocklist.

Dave worked with the kettle-drummer so his arms were better posed. Lovely stuff. The painting of the crestwork is brilliant as well.

These seventeen musicians will give Dave 170 points, but I'm going to place it at 180 for the uniqueness and the detail work on the kettle-drummer. Beautiful work, Dave!

From PaulP: 15mm AB Prussian Cuirassier Regiment

Paul sends us a few photos of a beautiful new addition to his 1813 Prussian force: a regiment of cuirassiers mustered out of East Prussia. 

I think the reason that these guys were such hard nuts was because they were always angry for being cheated out of getting a proper cuirass. Yep, a classic case of cuirass envy. Really, can you blame them? C'mon, talk about using the old bait-and-switch trick. 'Hey lads, come join the Cuirassiers! They are the elite of the Fatherland's cavalry. We'll make sure your custom embossed breastplate is delivered to your address at the front. No, really.'

These AB castings are just amazing - its difficult not to think of them as being 28mm.

The flag, and a nice one it is, was sourced from Signifer. 

So, Paul adds another 24 points to his total. Nicely done! I wonder what can we expect from him as we go into the last few weeks of the Challenge?

JohnM again: 28mm 10e Cuirassiers (redux)

These Perry boys, originally in Dragoon Green, were sent back to 'Wardrobe' for a costume change and here they are in all their Blue glory! Well done John, they look great!

I understand that four of these were done before the Painting Challenge so we'll count the remaining eight for the scoreboard. I'll have to get going so John does not squeak in a hat-trick!
