The Tratvian armed forces continue to expand. Rushing to the front with their varnish still tacky is this battalion of Naval Infantry. 

All 54mm. Figures are by Armies in Plastic.  

The standard bearer was produced with the aid of some minor surgery and a laser printed flag.  Forward to the West!  Whichever direction that is....

Schweet! I love these guys! Ever since I was a kid the whole idea of 'naval infantry' fascinated me (actually, coming from the prairies I found anything naval fascinating). I picture these poor naval ratings, in their silly caps, looking at each other thinking, 'How the fuck did we get in this mess? I'm supposed to be safe on some huge ship, with my only worry being how not to get molested by the ship's bursar.'

These Tratvians will earn Tim an enviable 201 points. 

From TimG: 54mm Tratvian Cavalry (180 points)

Recently emerged from the trackless Tratvian steppe is this Cossack Regiment.  These are 54mm Armies in Plastic figures painted in my usual 'toy soldier' style and topped off with two coats of floor varnish.  As the Tratvian Army will eventually include three such units, I was able to mix and match from several sets in order to have matching poses (of troopers and horses).  

This is the 2nd Regt, the 1st can be seen here.

The only light conversion work concerned the standard bearer whose sabre was replaced with a florist wire flag pole.

Very cool regiment Tim. They look like they could serve as the honour guard for Liberace!

Adjusted for basing these Tratvian horsemen will give Tim 180 points. Well done!

From TimG: Car For the Tsar of Tratvia, 1:32 1910 Cadillacs (60 points)

The (as yet unpainted) Tsar of Tratvia, Vladimir IV now has this pair of 'big splendid motor cars' to ferry around he and his (also currently unpainted) staff.

These 1910 Cadillacs were built from Revell 1/32 scale plastic kits. They were originally made by the Gowland (no relation...) company in the 1950s! This great age shows up a bit in the fit of some parts - cue the usual sanding, filling, more sanding, etc... But in the end they look pretty good.

They look great! I love the drivers with their grey uniforms and handlebar moustaches. 

These two horseless carriages will give Tim 60 points to add to his total which will slide him into first place on the roster. Well done!

Tim sends along a battalion of Tratvian infantry in 54mm. For those inquiring minds 'Tratvia' was a fictitious state featured in the late 60s radio comedy series called 'The Embassy Lark'.

Tratvian Militia Battalion.  Armies in Plastic 54mm figures (20 of 'em) from various sets including the Landwehr and Russian Militia boxes.

The Empire of Tratvia (as every schoolboy knows) is a huge country which straddles Europe and Asia. Among the countries it borders in the west are Forbodia, Vulgaria and Svenhasselstein. While economically somewhat backward in our period (1910-ish), the country is rich in natural resources and has vast reserves of (as yet mostly unpainted) manpower.

Very, very cool! You'll need to do a command stand featuring a rotund King Hildebrand III. 

These lads will give Tim 200 points to add to his tally.
