From ScottS: 10mm Republican Roman Command Stand (4 points)

Scott sends in this wonderful 10mm command stand to add to his Republican Roman collection.

This is a command stand for my Republican Rome project. Figures are 10mm by Pendraken, from the cavalry pack and quite nice they are too.

I want to avoid the whole sea-of-red look for my Romans, so used green as the main colour and will probably keep it as the main colour for the legionnaires.

This stand has been kicking around my painting desk since the end of the last challenge, so I thought it was about time to get some paint of them!

Great work Scott. I've always admired Pendraken's models and you've done a very fine job with them here. I like your idea of going with a green colour base as opposed to the usual red theme, and the pigments you've chosen are nice and vibrant which I think benefits these smaller scales.

Scott unveils Ronin #40 

I went for a fairly muted palette, with earthy armour colours and brighter colours on the mask.and plume.

The figure is by Westwind, based on a good old two pence coin with some Army Painter flock and tufts.

He looks fabulous Scott! I like what many of the Challengers have done with the yellow and red combination. I also really like the groundwork you've done with this fellow - very, very nice. I've enjoyed seeing the wide variety of manufacturers who offer 28mm Samurai. At first I feared that the availability of figures might be too restrictive but it seems that there are many options to choose from if you're willing to snoop around.

From ScottS: 15mm Great Italian Wars Crossbowmen (16 points)

A bit of a surprise entry this time.   Some 15th/16th Century Italian Crossbowmen from my defunct Great Italian Wars project.  I found these prepped and primed, lost amongst the debris in Man Corner.  I enjoyed painting two similar units, so settled down for an afternoon to finish this one.

Painted up as Florentine militia (I think,) they have the added benefit of having fought at some point for every European power.

Figures by Venexia, full of character and with plenty of little details; excellent castings too.  In 2012, Venexia decided to close and sold their miniature range to an American company.  Sadly, there's no sign yet of them reappearing.

Lovely 15s there Scott. The contrasting yellow and blue looks very nice. (Hmm, come to think of it I believe I may have a few sample packs of these in my 'reserve' as well!)

These crossbowmen will give Scott 16 points.

From ScottS: 10mm Roman Allied Archers (12 points)

Here are three bases of Roman allied archers for my Punic Wars project.  Again, nice 10mm Pendraken figures that could use more than one sculpt.  

I'm gradually trying to build up momentum before I tackle the heavy infantry.  Maybe some more cavalry before I start on the Hastatii.

Cool! I really like 10mm as a scale and these look great. Scott, how big will your heavy infantry units be? (I suppose we'll find out soon enough...)

From ScottS: 15mm Numidian Light Horsemen (60 points)

Scott from Aberdeen finally has heat in his house and so sends in his first volley of figures to celebrate.

This weekend was my first opportunity to get some painting in this year, so I chose to something I could start and finish in a couple days. 

Four bases of Numidian Horsemen for my putative Punic Wars project. 10mm figures by Pendraken, nice enough, although I would have preferred a third pose. 

In hindsight, I'm wondering if there are too many figures per base, but hopefully they're disorganized enough to look like light cavalry.

Great work Scott. Personally, I like the look of the four figures per base. I think you're right in that their formation should give indication to their battlefield role.
