I was recruiting a lot of old imperial guard type GW models into some Weird WWII sort off skirmish force that I am slowly building.

Now I got around to painting another one. I did him up in field-grey and panzer yellow - all colors on display come from the yellow, green, skin black and white sets from Andrea . I think there's a few too many skulls on this mini to represent the wehrmacht but there you go.

That's a very cool idea to use some of GWs stuff for Weird WWII. I could easily see using Forge World's 'Death Korps of Krieg' for this kind of project.

This commissar will give Kawe 5 points.

From KaweWZ: 28mm Crusader-Era Muslim Infantry & Command Stand (80 points)

Kawe, one of our generous benefactors and the owner of Westfalia Miniatures, kicks off his Challenge with this fine set of Muslim cavalry and infantry from the Crusader era (I believe).

From Kawe:

I have no clue where these come from. The mounted group is from Foundry and so is the single Zanzibari on the command-stand. 

The rest might well be old-glory or something, but the miniatures are really nice indeed.

Well, no matter, they look wonderful Kawe. Those cavalry are very nice and I really like how you've based them up as well - very spiffing.

This entry will give Kawe 80 points to start his climb on the roster. Great job Mein Herr.

From KaweWZ: 28mm Napoleonic Vignettes (75 points)

I finished 2 more vignettes for our booth at the Tactica tomorrow that I wanted to enter in the competition.

One shows Westfalias Prussian Ambulance and an ad Hoc Operation table. It's basically our 2 Prussian medical sets with Perry Horses and Aufsitzer which Niels buys from them.

The next piece is a hell of a rushed Ammo-caisson. Half painted and burried under a lot of snow BUT... I've strangely fallen for it, and I might do another one like that soon.

Sadly, I doubt that I really meet the points target, but I really had to finish these vignettes first.  I could plough on and just sinish a few ranker quick and dirty, but that's not the spirit of a sportsman. :)

Awesome work Kawe! They're both brilliant, but I agree with you in that the snow covered caisson seems particularly evocative of the 1812 Retreat. Beautiful.

These two vignettes will give Kawe a base of 65 points but I'm adding a few extra for their excellent overall composition. This places you well within striking distance of your Points Goal, Kawe...

Kawe sends in his Ronin, this excellent samurai warrior firing an arquebus.

This is a 28mm casting from Kingsford Miniatures, a very nice range out of Canada.

Beautiful work here Kawe. I particularly like the yellow and black dual sashimono - very eye-catching.

The miniature has been made from Victrix and I believe Front Rank bits and some Green Stuff.

Looks just like home. :) Lovely work, Kawe. You've done a beautiful job with the snow, especially the partly covered foliage. The horse and sleigh is gorgeous - who is the sculptor?

This dragoon and sleigh vignette will give Kawe 27 points.

From Kawe: 28mm Napoleonic French Engineer Vignette (65 points)

Kawe takes the Enest Hemmingway Prize for the most succinct submission description:

It's the old and new engineer-sets from Westfalia.

Okaay! The brevity in prose is more than outweighed by the gorgeous work here. Wow, I was going to hold off on getting one of those French wagons but now I think I'll have to reconsider. Absolutely lovely. The addition of the wheelbarrow, picks, etc. is also a great touch.

This group of sappers will give Kawe 65 points, which includes some extra added for the overall composition of the vignette. Again, great job!

PS: Kawe, if you ever get out of the miniatures busines you can always write scripts for William Shatner or Clint Eastwood.

From KaweWZ: 28mm Napoleonic Hanoverian Jaegers (40 points)

Kawe sends us his first entry of eight Hanoverian Jaegers.

These are from his own excellent miniatures company, Westfalia Miniatures. I believe Paul Hicks is the sculptor.

The formation was raised in 1813 from Foresters and Huntsmen and fought with distinction at the Battle of the Goehrde, the siege of Hamburg and finally in the 100 days campaign and at Waterloo.

Lovely, lovely work Kawe. Their goundwork is also superb. 

This group will give Kawe 40 points. Hmm, I think I may get him to include a set of these with my Challenge Ronin...
