From TimB: 28mm Dark Age Scots, Normans, Irish, Amazon and Hoplites (250 points)

Tim has been going at it, hammer and tongs, getting ready for his big DBA campaign weekend later this month (which will fall right on his birthday - Happy Pre-Birthday Tim!). Here we have a potpourri of wonderful figures ranging from Dark Age Scots, Normans and Irish, to Classical Amazons and Hoplites. 

Tim wows us again with his hand-painted plaid cloaks and shield designs. Beautiful stuff.

These 28mm figures have been sourced from a broad mix of manufacturers. The Scots are all Old Glory, the Normans are Crusader, the Amazon is from MegaMinis and the Hoplites are from Black Tree, Foundry (the Spartan) and Crusader.

This group of 44 figures will give Tim a base of 220 points but I'm going to give him an extra 30 for the excellent  work on the shields and plaids. Well done, Tim!

From TimB: 28mm Great War Canadians & Spartans (90 points)

Tim has submitted these great models to help bolster his enviable score. First up is a beautiful 15-man unit depicting members of the 42nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (Royal HIghland Regiment of Canada) which was originally raised in Montreal. They were part of the 7th Infantry Brigade of the Third Canadian Division. The grey patch denotes the 3rd Division. Triangle above it indicates the units seniority within the brigade and the Green (of the triangle) is for the 7th Brigade, the senior brigade in the Division.

These are 28mm 'Great War' castings which are a bit of a change for Tim as a lot of his previous stuff has been from Renegade. Lovely work on those kilts, Tim! 

Below is a Scottish field officer from the same manufacturer.

Last but not least is a pair of Spartans. The one on the left is a Foundry casting whereas the other is from Crusader.  

This group will net Tim a respectable 90 points. Thanks for sharing these, Tim, they look great.

From TimB: 28mm Spartan Knight and WWI Signalers (20 points)

Tim keeps up the steam and sends in this group consisting of a Lacedaemonian officer and a trio of British Great War signalers.

The Spartan magistrate/officer (denoted by his wooden rod and transverse crest on his helmet) is from the 28mm Wargames Foundry range, sculpted by Steve Saleh. Tim's painting of the cloak reflects that these hard nuts would go for a whole year before washing or replacing them. Yep, apparently they did this on purpose. Perhaps Gerard Butler should have been shouting 'THIS. IS. SMELLY!'

These three WWI British signalers are from Renegade Miniatures. They are in late-war informs and depict troops from the Canadian 3rd Division (as denoted by the grey shoulder patch). The pigeons are particularly cool! 

These four will give Tim 20 points. Nice ones, Tim!

From ChrisP: "THIS IS POOCH!" 28mm Spartan Hoplite (5 points)

Sorry about the title - I really couldn't help myself.

Chris Pooch from New Zealand has sent in the forerunner for his upcoming Spartan army. 

This is a 28mm plastic model from Immortal Miniatures. I quite like the look of this fellow especially the 'man-sized' shield and the correct looking spear (dory, right?) with the rear spike.  I'll have to pick up some of these for myself.

As you can see Chris did a very nice job freehanding the Lambda on the shield. That being said, he'll probably loose his mind trying to replicate that on his whole force. Well, look on the bright side, Chris, at least they didn't pick  'Sparta Pwns U' as their shield device...

This chap will put Chris on the board with 5 points, but its 5 Spartan points which must worth at least 50 regular points, right? Right?  ;)
