not often I see a Biscayne (where did they get that name I wonder) and a Spartan trailer?

Where did Biscayne get its name? Biscayne Bay? It in turn was named for either the Bay of Biscay, which is part of the Atlantic Ocean north of Spain, or an early explorer called El Biscaino, who came from the Spanish province of Biscaya.

there was so little that I saw on yesterday's walk I didn't bother posting yesterday, instead, I include the 2 cars in this post of what I saw on today's walk

because in the above photo the passenger side is missing the trim piece, it's easy to see that it looks better to you with, or, without that piece, compared to the drivers side

and the above is on the same street, but a couple blocks away, from the below

I am real surprised to see this Belvedere in a driveway, looking like a new car

we're having cool and windy weather, so today's stalker cat was trying to keep as warm as possible on the welcome mat.

those 70s vans are still around. This has been parked in the same place since before 2007

it's been a couple years since I've seen a Biscayne

Dyno Don, 1961 Super Stock Impala

Of the 491,000 Chevy Impalas built for 1961, only 142 were fitted with the 409 cubic inch engine.

These engines were rated at 360 HP and had a single four-barrel carburetor. Some racers purchased the engines seperately and installed them in 2-door Biscayne sedans. (when's the last time you heard of a Biscayne?)

This was permitted in 1961, factory installations were not required.

Two racers that went to this trouble in 1961 were established drag racers Frank Saunders out of Phoenix, Arizona and Dave Strickler from York, PA.

Frank Saunders won the S/S class at the 1961 NHRA Winternationals while Don Nicholson took the win in the Stock Eliminator category at the same event.

So, what's a Biscayne? Where did Chevy get that name?

I thought the Biscayne was easily identified by the 2 taillight per side design... But maybe this has an Impala trunk lid.

According to Wikipedia, the name Biscayne isn't very common, and is some place in Belize  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Biscayne

And yes, I know there is a Biscayne Bay in Florida... but you see that they didn't call the car a ******** Bay? Or a ******** Beach? So, I see that they named the car one word, and that seems to be a Biscayne, same as the place in Belize. When you figure out what the hell a Camaro and a Chevelle are, then tell you can tell me all about the Biscayne Bay. Cool?

FWIW, several of you were helpful and told me about the Biscayne Bay in southern Florida, south of Miami. And Delray Beach, Florida, in Palm Beach County, is where they got the name for the Del Ray.

Well, Chevelle isn't even in Websters... and doesn't seem to have any other reference online except the car name... but it too sounds Spanish (seville - Chevelle)

Nothing shows us on Google Maps as a town or city named Chevelle. So maybe Chevrolet invented the word

The Biscayne and the Del Ray were the cheapest cars Chevy made... intended as taxi, fleet, or simply cheap transportation. Baldwin got ahold of some, and tossed in 427s and 4 speeds, and called them BisQuick
