Three Compilations by "The Burger Guy": Baroque Pop, Psych Pop, & Bubblegum Pop

We have our reasons for using this picture, but we're opting not to reveal them at this time.

Frankly, we don't exactly remember how we discovered these compilations by Sean Bohrman of Burger Records. It probably has something to do with the periodic updates Burger sends us. Ultimately it matters even less than these words we're writing. (Yes, these words, not words like "Sean," "Bohrman," "Burger,," "Records," and "periodic," for those words matter very much indeed.)

Anyway, Sean has put together at least four compilations over at Bandcamp, and we're posting our favorites from three of them. (We opted out of his Tiny Tim comp for the time being.) We encourage you to read his informative, droll comments at Bandcamp, but for now, we're focusing on the music. All the comps are available for name-your-price download.

Diamond Hands' Sixtiesish Jangle

Many thanks to Last.fm friend and Tumblrblogger dramandy for the headsup on Sixties-inflected L.A. band Diamond Hands. We get the Burger Records updates, too, but must have overlooked this one. Song #1 is our favorite, but we particularly like #2 & #5 as well. As we share a Super compatibility rating with dramandy and consistently find great music at her blog, we strongly suggest you join us in checking Every Needle Has An Eye on a regular basis.

The Resonars

Rest assured that any time we find something freely dlable by this Tucson faveband, it shall be placed within your reach post-haste. (It is in fact happening in this very post, duh.) Follow the labels to previous resonances.

Gap Dream's Byrdsian Psych Pop Makes Us Feel A Whole Lot Better

It was love at first listen when we heard Cleveland one-man (Gabriel Fulvimar) band Gap Dream's cover of this 1966 Byrdsian B-side by Bristol, CT five-man band The Squires. We sent you to Rollo & Grady to check out "Go Ahead" and have been hugely enjoying it ever since.

You can hear/buy the self-titled LP on which it plays at Bandcamp. (Warning: It's the most visually revolting Bandcamp page we've ever seen. Our gorge rose, our lungs flinched, but, with eyes closed, we listened to fantastic psych pop of very high order.)

There's a fair amount of information available on Gap Dream, but so far we like best what we read at FensePost.

Oh, and that pic up there? We gave you a clue. (Once again, though, there's a bit of gross-out associated therewith, if you actually go to the trouble to track it down.)

Buy the 10-song LP at Bandcamp for $1. Yeah, that's right, one measly buck.

Summer Twins Warm Our Winter

Oh, but we do care, and very much, for this nifty number by Riverside siblings Chelsea and Justine Brown. The song is from their self-titled Burger Records debut, which you can stream here and purchase here. Six more free and legals are downloadable at Bandcamp. The Twins will be joining The Nerves' reunion tour this Spring, featuring powerpop legends Paul Collins and Peter Case. Thanks to Christen Thomas at Press Wolf PR for the headsup.

Fever B: Catch It

Speaking of the superb Indiepages, we caught the above while paging through their Sounds section. It was love at first listen. We noticed the aforementioned Burger Records has (or have) a ton of excellent groups we've been discovering lately, some of which have names too naughty to mention here but most that do not.
