Many thanks to Washington, D. C. powerpoppers Dot Dash for alerting us to the free download of the following tune from their 2013 LP, Half-Remembered Dream. You can catch them live tonight at The Black Cat in D. C. and in Rockville, MD on January 29, along with the B-52's. Their fourth, Mitch Easter-produced (!) LP is due out in January 2015.

From the Archives

As many of you who have tried it will attest, blogging can be extremely cerebral. Not for me, of course: I go strictly by feeling, and awhile ago my feelings said, "Go to the Archives and make us groove." After diving in, I emerged cleansed and refreshed. After combing through them, I emerged well groomed. Etc. Clicking the song titles should launch the songs.*** Clicking the artists' names will take you to the original posts, where you will find all kinds of potentially useful matter.

The Sky Drops - Million mp3
Coco B's - Sister Cold Caller mp3

Mitch Easter - Time Warping mp3

Palomar - You’re Keeping Us Up mp3

***I was getting some popup-blocking action when testing some of these links. If this happens to you, hold down Ctrl when clicking the song title. Only a suggestion.

Latest Easter for Early Easter Present

Or something. Anyway, Mitch Easter is God, so why not? And Dynamico was on AllMusic's list of most noteworthy new releases for the current week, nestling fresh in my emailbox this very day. I'm delighted to have found "Time Warping" at Easter's website and am going ahead and reposting another by Easter, plus a song by Shalini, the band fronted by Easter's wife, Shalini Chatterjee. (Easter plays guitars and adds vocals, while Eric Marshall plays drums.) And in case I forget to say it at the appropriate time, Happy Easter.

Easters at Christmas

Earlier this month I held off posting these two songs involving primo performer/producer Mitch Easter because 3hive diligently got to them first. A decent interval has long since passed, though, so here they are here. Background information can be found at my previous post and the links provided. Easter's new album, Dynamico, is due for release next month.

Mitch Easter & Shalini

Ouch, I wish I’d gotten there first. I was at Mitch Easter’s new MySpace site a couple of months ago, but in the meantime, exciting developments have transpired, and the venerable, indispensable 3hive nailed them. I will therefore exercise proper restraint. I’d like to post all three songs available, but for now will limit myself to one and encourage you to visit 3hive for the rest. I do want all three in that Streampad thingy to the right, though, so in the fairly near future, I’m going to add the others. Easter, of course, was the leader of the great 80s indie band, Let’s Active, as well as producer for many groups, including R.E.M., Game Theory, The Loud Family, Velvet Crush, Marshall Crenshaw, Pavement, and Australia’s The Hummingbirds. He currently performs both solo and in Shalini, a trio fronted by his wife Shalini Chatterjee and rounded out by Eric Marshall, Let’s Active’s last drummer.
