Even More Freebies From the Archives - Downloadable Bandcampers - Phase 3

Perhaps you doubted us. Perhaps we doubted ourselves. Perhaps we waited too long. Perhaps we didn't wait long enough. But here we are, hat and fappy and thrusting and bursting with more free & legal downloadables we've rounded up from the Powerpopulist Archives. We just now checked each and every and verified that all are indeed available for either Free or Name-Your-Price Download. Clicking /////bc will take you to the appropriate Bandcamp download page. As before, if you get to Bandcamp and find a song has a price attached, do one of three things: 1) Click "Buy the Full Digital Album" and be taken to the page where it's downloadable for free or name-your-price (in which case, type "0"in the pricebox); 2) Click the album name just under the song name at the top left-hand side of the Bandcamp page; 3) Pay money to buy the song. We attach no particular importance to the number of songs in this Phase 3 playlist (69); that's simply the way it turned out. Most of the songs are powerpop, indiepop. janglepop, and other kinds of hooky, melodic pop, but this list is a bit more varied than the previous two. It includes some shoegaze, some crunch, and even has a wad of bubblegum stuck in there somewhere. We hope you find plenty to cop, feel, and flow with dopaminiacally. Oh, and, yes, we do have the aforepromised SoundCloud and straight mp3-linked downloadable playlists pretty much ready to post, and when that will be done is anybody's guess. Doubt us do ye? Good move. Click appropriately to find the 50 free and legals in Phase 1 and 50 more in Phase 2.

Faves from The Final Active Listener Sampler: Fogbound, Invaderband, Nuvem Leopardo, Emily Jones

First, the good news: we've just been graced with a new and customarily fab comp of psych and poppsych from The Active Listener. Now the bad: as any fool (and we proudly qualify) can tell by the sampler title, it's the last one from the marvelous Master Nathan Ford. We've been enriched by his superb comps for several years now and thank him most heartily. Below are our four most fave from this swansong of songs. You can download all 21 tunes for a mere $1 total. (Readers in Lesotho will of course pay in loti. Bandcamp should help you convert to your local currency.)

Those Fogbound freebies we posted previously are still freely available here.

Tele Novella - Sin & Con

As usual, we're glad we heard the tune first, but Austin band Tele Novella's just-released vid's fun, too. No pressure, but which you click first tells a lot about you. (But then, only you*** will know.)

Animal Camera Clicks Again

Yes, indeed, The Legend Continues, and we couldn't be happier. (Well, maybe we could be under certain circumstances, but, hey, you know, all's good with this groovy tuneage is basically what we're saying.) Burien band Animal Camera clicked our twanger immediately upon first listen, and now we find it weren't no fluke, for they do it again! (i.e., the twanger continues merrily to twang).

We just now discovered in our email boxe they've issued "a collection of songs from the unfinished 'Smooth EP'," whatever that might mean. No matter, what's here is good/groovy poppsych, as we hope you will soon hear. Below we're posting our three faves, all available for name-your-price download at Bandcamp. Last time we forewent "French Girls," sending you to KEXP Blog, where we had first enjoyed close encounters of the heard kind. So, ooh-la-la, we're now glad to give it a whirl right here in our own impersonal element. Perhaps we're being a little unwontedly/unwantedly chatty, so we'll stuff a cork and go to embed, after, that is, letting you know they're still at Facebook.

Egyptian Blue Share The Rot

Man/Woman/Whatever, we love those Erik Blood songs so much we haven't wanted to obtrude another post that drives them down the page! (Anyway, that's our excuse and we're sticking with it (for now, at least.)))) But blogging being what it is, we must move on. And happily we do sow (further seed)

We found these Colchester lads at Cotswoldsblog The Mad Mackerel and are frightfully glad we did. If you like the poppsycher below, go to SoundCloud for more downloadable action.

Did we say "Colchester"? Wow, we've been there, got friends there . . . Hi, Mo, Nigel, Pat!

New Planet Trampoline Are Outta This World

These Cleveland psychpoppers def got us jumping. We lead with a downloadable oldie and then point you toward some personal faves from their March 2016 release, Dark Rides and Grim Visions. (It don't get much poppier than that, wot?)

We also particularly like #7, 9, & 11.

The LP title of course reminded us of The Damned's "Grimly Fiendish," but here's our favorite from Phantasmagoria.

Captured in the Great Northwest: Animal Camera

We first encountered these Seattle/Burien psychpoppers at KEXP Blog and were so "turned on" as to sample every song they've encaged at Bandcamp. Below are our favorites. We encourage you to visit that KEXP post to hear/maybe download their newest number, "French Girls." You can 'book 'em here.

We also particularly liked Friends #4 & 6.
