Tasty Fare from Food Court

We previously chowed down with/on these Glebe, Ozzers and slurped and smacked happily. The first song below is a favorite from their 22sept17 LP, Good Luck and below that is one of the songs we previously posted for free download. The other is still available at the previous post.

The Jim Mitchells & Friends

We just now discovered Sydney band The Jim Mitchells over at Little Indie Blogs, did a little more digging, found three free and legal downloadables at triple j unearthed, and want to post them before shutting down for some shuteye.

You can read more about them at triple j unearthed and Facebook, but we wanted to mention that after already being hooked, we noticed they cite as influences The Beatles, Ty Segall, White Fence, and the band formerly known as Thee Oh Sees (now simply yclept Oh Sees). So in addition to great sounds, they've got great taste.

First up is their recently released single, "Ankle Deep," the one we found at LIB.

Next we have two songs from their 2016 EP, Planet Absorbed. (Hear the whole EP, plus much more at SoundCloud.)

Here's the highly entertaining video of "Ankle Deep," our first introduction to the band.

Now, what about their friends (or perhaps should we say, "influences?")? Although you'll have to pay for it (which we gladly did), here's our favorite from Ty Segall's new EP, Fried Shallots, followed by the whole caboodle, available at Bandcamp.

You've maybe heard of British band, "The Beatles?" They're new to us, but we've been learning a ton about them via the superb podcasts by Robert Rodriguez and Richard Buskin over at Something About The Beatles

For Oh Sees, we send you to perhaps their most devoted fan in this particular universe, M. Thibault over at Still in Rock.

And finally, there's no way we're mentioning White Fence without posting our favorite song by one of our very favorite bands of the last several years.

Flying High with Green Buzzard

Yeah, we used it before but that's because we like it.

Oberon/Sydney band Green Buzzard are one of our very favorite discoveries of the last couple of years, so high as a kite we got to discover their latest release, Space Man Rodeo. (Hear below.) But a few moments ago we sampled every tune and quickly snapped up every one of them at iTunes (all but the excellent "Do You Ever Glow?", which we'd already snapped up as a single). Check out more info by and about GB at FB. We're not big on discouraging words here, so don't let the fact we found the three "Transmissions" to be a bit slowish detract from the fact that on each of the other seven songs on SMR, it's all systems GO!

And if you missed last year's Easy Queezy Squeezy EP, check it out below and buy it at iTunes. We did both and are darned glad we did. While you're at it, check out pretty much all the rest of Green Buzzard's artistry at their SoundCloud page.

Finally, we push their "Phantasy Girl," video every chance we get because frankly, it's rock perfection, aurally and visually. (In Our Haughty Opinion.)

To Bleach Girls: We Like YOU, Heck Yes!

If we can believe their lyrics - and why not? - Byron Bay band Bleach Girls have the largeness of soul to encompass contradiction. In "Like You" (downloadable below), they immediately proclaim:
I like your hair cut,
I like it long.
You look so pretty,
You look so wrong.
But that's not the only reason we're loving this duo. Evidence of that is provided below, at SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and triple j unearthed, which has another free downloadable.

Many thanks to Little Indie Blogs for the headsup to the following.

Coupla Hits from Amyl and the Sniffers

One hit too many? Butyl be better?

We thank the divine Thibault for hooking us up with these Melbourne punkpoppers (prolly more punk than poppers, despite their bandname). Below are our two favorites from their EP, Giddy Up, which you can download for name-your-price here at Bandcamp.

Milkpunch Make (Our) Junk Pop

This Sydney band make high-quality junk pop. The pic is actually from a different product, but we wanted you to see what they look like. Thanks to The Revue for the cranial uplift.

Wesley Fuller's Forthcoming Fivepopper + Hurricane Fighter Plane

Early this morning (5:43 A.M., for you exactophiles), we were notified that Melbourne glamodpsychpopper Wesley Fuller is set to release his five-song EP, Melvista, via 1965 Records this coming July 8. Thanks to the ever-active Nathan Ford, we were able to share the title song with you approximately . . . no, holy shite, EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO TODAY!!! Karma? Kismet? All-around good klean living? Yeah, probably.

Anyway, if you missed it, you can go back to that previous post or you can listen and download it via the triple j unearthed widget below. This is only our second post to incorporate triple j widgetry, so if you missed those fab songs by Adelaide band The Arch Menaces, click here to unearth 'em.

We also posted another fab Wesley Fuller song courtesy of The Active Listener's superb covers comp, Nuggets 2 Revisited, viz.:

You've probably been asking yourself, "pp, just who was it notified you at 5:43 A.M. today?" Well, it was Alix Weymouth of Wasted Youth PR. And Alix didn't just stop at notifying us, oh, no, far from. He also let us hear the following cut off the forthcoming Wesley Fuller EP, Melvista.

So thank you, Alix, for everything! You are our new best friend who doesn't actually know us and, if you play your cards right, probably never will.

Finally - and we do hope this post hasn't gone on too long - we want to post some fabulous tuneage from the aforementioned Wesley Fuller's previous band, the poetically named Hurricane Fighter Plane. We got on a little HFP kick probably about a year ago or so today, and bought everything we could, which unfortunately wasn't very much quantitatively but thrilled us deeply qualitatively. So here's what we found and bought:

We don't usually "dig" videos all that much, but Wesley and the  "Plane" made some we do deeply "dig." So here are a few of them. (Update: Thanks to the prompting of longtime visitor J. B. Goode, we found free and legal downloadables for "Aftermath" and "Tell No Lies." See below and/or click the songtitles.)

"Aftermath" is downloadable here at the late band's blog.

"Tell No Lies" is also downloadable at the aforementioned bandblog.

Oh, and (blushing), almost forgot: here's the video for "Melvista."

Green Buzzard of Oz

Sydney band Green Buzzard haven't put out much in quantity so far – in these parts at least – but they've more than made up for it in quality. We've bought all we could get our claws on and after listening to "Zoo Fly" a little while ago, decided to see if we could track down any other downloadables. And Voila!, SoundCloud and the band itself come through. We might mention that the first dlable below is a big old WAVE file, so you might want to convert it to mp3 after downloading. We've been saying that a lot lately, but that's okay. Enjoy the streamables and viewable as well and go way down under to see about gripping a free WAVE of "Phantasy Girl."

to go to a place where you can get a free download of
"Phantasy Girl."
Once there, click the moving heart-held

Velociraptor

Several months ago we bought everything by this Brisbane twelve-piece we could get our hands on at eMusic and just now put our hands on a couple more. If you like what you hear, three freebies are available at their triple j unearthed page. "Walk On By" has been kind of omnipresent in our mind's ear of late, so we lead with it. You'll probably have to pay for that one, but if I were you, I would do it.
