the derevolutions: fantasies, mysteries, ecstasies, & such

We saw the email was from The Fantasies and nearly sprang a leak. The cryptic message read:

"old friend, i have returned bearing a new name and more hooks than before: . . ."

Thus were we introduced to new music by mysterious Northampton musician . . .(insert name here, when/if we get it) . . .in his latest endeavor. And just as we've thrilled to the fantastic psychsurfspacepoprock of The Fantasies the last couple of years, so are we grooving to the derevolutions. We'd like to hook you up with more info, and will do when we get it. (I'faith, we did get a wee bit more, but it's kind of like, you know, private.)

We're posting our favorites and encourage you to go to Soundcloud for more. We're also posting a couple of Fantasiesfaves and sincerely thanking ___ for letting us do so. (He took down the Bandcamp widgies and sort of told us why, but the deeper motivations remain mysterious. We're gonna see if we can't convince him to reassess.)

The Fantasies Are Not So Dumb

Yes, there's no doubt Herbie von K would get off on this smart little janglemarcher. (I mean, look at the picture, for Peter's sake: maestro's smiling his flipping lips off.) We've said several times we really "dig" what these Northampton lads are doing tune-wise and thank them for knocking us up emailily with this, their latest, released today. As noted in those previous posts, you can find more by them at their Bandcamp pages. If you're new to The Fantasies, you simply must click either the word "several" or the word "times" up there and listen to "Tick Tock." Not trying to be bossy, but you must. Thank you. The Fantasies Come to Life (Again)

This Northampton band continues to be as elusive as most of our fantasies but they also continue to fulfill our musical ones quite splendidly. It took a while, but we just read a very nice email from the band. The missive contained the precious Bandcamp link to their just-released Earth Life EP, along with a note saying (and we quote in full), "thanks for writing about us before." "before," of course, refers to this post, which features what is turning out to be one of our very favorite of the thousand+ songs we've acquired so far this year, the fantastic "Tick Tock." What the heck, here it is.

We're also posting below two tunes we "dig" from the new EP. You can easily get the third (plus some previous singles) by clicking the Bandcamp link. We could tell you all kinds of stuff about the songs, but why bother when your own ears can do that so much more eloquently than we ever could do. We readily and humbly admit, though, that the Master of Bubblegumiana, MrQwerty over at Power Pop Review, could quite possibly give even your ears a run for their money. Simply comparing his review of the Warm Fuzzies with ours will show you what we mean. We've no doubt which one you'd chews. Dude knows his 'Gum. We've kind of digressed, but not really.

Remeet The Fantasies

We recently sent you to The Decibel Tolls to grab this psychsurfspacepopperocker--Woah, we're speakin' German!--and today found it at Bandcamp, along with a couple more free and legals. We are invited to Meet The Fantasies, but actually finding information on "America's Phenomenal Pop Duo" is quite the challenge. Not to worry, though. Based on what we've put together from Bandcamp, elbo.ws, and several blogs we got elbo.wed into, they seem to be from Northampton, Massachusetts. I suppose one of our fantasies is to someday know the who, what, when, where, and other stuff about The Fantasies, but for now this fantastic song is nicely filling our heads with what we really need to know.
