Burning House's Fanclubesque "Peach"

Most of Southampton band Burning House's songs at Bandcamp sound rather shoegazy, but their tags there also include the following: "power pop" and "powerpop." Their just-released juicy little number below proves they aren't kidding. Fans of Teenage Fanclub will most likely agree. So far, all of their songs at Bandcamp are available for name-your-price download, so get ye hence, an ye be willing/able.

We also very much like this Guided by Voices cover (originally authored neither by Mr. Pollard nor by Mr. Sprout, but by Mr. Doug Gillard).

And speaking of Mr. Gillard, we are very glad we bought this one several years ago.

Teenage Fanclub's Second From HERE

Oh, yeah, they def rock.

We liked the first one from long-time faveband Teenage Fanclub's forthcoming LP and LOVE the second, posted below. Here should be here on 9sep16. Till then we float on thin air.

And while we're at it, how could we not repost our all-time favorite by TFC? Right: no way. This one drives us wild with pleasure.

And in case you missed it, here's one of our favorite songs of the century, courtesy of former TFC drummer Paul Quinn's band, The Primary 5. (That's he on the sticks 'n' tubs up there in "Sparky's Dream.")

Streamers: Honey Radar, The Black Delta Movement, Bubblegum Lemonade, Teenage Fanclub, Flyying Colours, GØGGS

Honey Radar, of course.

These wouldn't drop at Songdrop, so we're streaming them below. Kind of a frantically eclectic mix, so you're warned and welcome. Of course we love 'em.

And surely we can't be faulted for reposting a video for one of the five best songs of the 1990s.

Around the Blogosphere: Teenage Fanclub, Billy Bragg, British Sea Power, Chromatics, Electric Light Orchestra, The Cars

We continue to make up for lost time. Two great blogs have some primo tunes. If you like British Sea Power, go to 17 Seconds immediately, as they appear to be near the deadline for removal. That ELO post at a Plague of Angels is pretty spectacular as well. Plague also has two excellent posts of The Cars here and here. Many thanks to the hosts.

Teenage Fanclub – The Concept – 17 Seconds
Billy Bragg – Greetings To The New Brunette – 17 Seconds
British Sea Power – Lights Out For Darker Skies & Power Down On The Ground – 17 Seconds

Chromatics – Night Drive & Healer – a Plague of Angels
Electric Light Orchestra – Do Ya & Turn to Stone & Sweet Talkin’ Woman & Don’t Bring Me Down & Calling America & So Serious – a Plague of Angels – A veritable gold mine; it’s great to see the possibly not-so-well-known “So Serious” included here; it’s one of my all-time favorites by ELO .

We b itchy: Teenage Fanclub, Raveonettes, World Record, Electric President, Buddyrevelles, Warlocks

Boldly (but not too) came forth the word from on high: "Let there be tunes." And behold, in some mysteriousish way but dimly understood, there were tunes. And it was good, as were the tunes, in the opinion of some, mostly humans. But the people did chafe and itch with an itch that knew no scratch and did say, "Dude, keep writing intros such as this and we will no longer visit your blog." And so, chastened and mortified and himself feeling, albeit slightly, the lash of itch, the dude wrote no further intros such as this and played gaily with the anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals prior to feasting thereon.

The Buddyrevelles - The Foreigner mp3 - Very polite of ya, budge. No imposition at all.
The Warlocks - So Paranoid mp3 - Nyce psych. Thanks, GloNo. (pic)

Around the Blogosphere/Chronosphere

Yasssss, maybe I'll just change the name of this silly little blog to "Around the Blogosphere" and be done with it. I hope you're not tiring of these AtB posts, but if so, don't blame me, it's these dadgum bloggers I frequent who keep posting all this great music. Here's what I mean:

Teenage Fanclub - Born Under A Good Sign + 3 more by the great Scots - Headphones On - Liz shows no sign of letting up, and that's a good sign indeed.

Let us now enter the Dalston Oxfam Shop, where Mr. Shopper has posted a superb blend of clandestine sounds from 1994. Below are my faves. Clicking on any of the following will take you to all of the following, plus eight more. I've gotta say I've never been much of an Oasis fan, but "Fade Away" I really like. I've never seen a brickbat, either, so if you're gonna hurl, at least show it to me first.
Ride – Let’s Get Lost – Dalston Oxfam Shop
Lush – The Childcatcher – Dalston Oxfam Shop
Oasis - Fade Away - Dalston Oxfam Shop
Frank Black – Freedom Rock – Dalston Oxfam Shop
Velvet Crush – This Life is Killing Me – Dalston Oxfam Shop
Lisa Germano – Energy – Dalston Oxfam Shop

If that isn't retro enough for you, how about setting the Wayback Machine to 1967, aka "The Summer of Love?" LG over at Ingrained Refrains has put together a superb post of 18 studio songs from the year, plus six live numbers from the legendary Monterey Pop Festival. All the major, and some minor, food groups are represented, so go feast. (The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, The Box Tops, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Jefferson Airplane, Harper's Bizarre, Jimi Hendrix, you get the pic.)

Finally, on the off chance you have spare time this weekend, a baker's handful more.
Spoon - Rhthm & Soul - I Am Fuel, You Are Friends (The next song's in the same post.)
Built to Spill - The Plan - I Am Fuel, You Are Friends
The La’s - I Can’t Sleep - You Aint No Picasso
The Garlands - You Never Notice Me - Indie-MP3
Citizens Here And Abroad - Appearances - mp3hugger
Mates of State - For the Actor - Music for Kids Who Cant Read Good

I have one word to all these fabulously generous bloggers: Ta! (I first typed "MWAH," but, you know.)

Around the Blogosphere: Lots

Yeh, on Monday I tried something cute and only posted about half the music of the spheres I'd found, and now I've got a glorious buildup sirensonging to be posted, so here goes. Needless to say, I soiled me armor over the Teenage Fanclub song, but it's all to the good. As I've said before and no doubt will again ad pukeum, I feel a certain sense of urgency about letting you know about these because some of them don't stay up all that long, so the two-day delay is quite inexcusable. Ta, hosts!

Goldmine at Our Fingertips: New Pornographers, Teenage Fanclub, Trembling Blue Stars, Trashcan Sinatras, Copeland

While out on explorations last week I stumbled onto a goldmine over at the Fingertips Master Artist List. I still haven't worked the vein fully but will share a few I've found over the next couple of posts. Take your own pick and pan and go dig it yourself. As promised, I'm also including some of the goodstuff I found at SXSW 2005. Be still, my heart.

The New Pornographers - Graceland mp3 - Sample while you can. It's been balky.
Teenage Fanclub - It's All In My Mind mp3 (pic)
Trembling Blue Stars - Helen Reddy mp3
The Trashcan Sinatras - Welcome Back mp3
