More Freebies From the Archives - Downloadable Bandcampers - Phase 2
As promised, here are 50 more free and legal downloadables from the Powerpopulist Archives. Most are powerpop, janglepop, indiepop, and other kinds of hooky melodic pop. Clicking /////bc will take you to the Bandcamp page where you can download the song. If you find a pricetag attached there, click either a) Buy the Full Digital Album or b) the album name just under the song name at the top left of the page. We tested all 50 songs just before posting and found them all to be either Free Downloads or Name Your Price (in which case, simply type "0" in the price box). The first 50 freebies are available here (along with some blather about this From the Archives project). If you'd like to work from the playlist in a larger format over at Playmoss, click here. Happy listening, smashing, and grabbing.

2017 Powerpopulist Faves
Tired of end-of-year lists? No? Well goody goody 'cause here's one we think you'll like. We sure did because it's, like, ours, duh: our very favorite powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, psychpop, whateverpop songs of 2017. Every song's a personal eargasm, so that's a groovy skyrockets-in-flight kind of thing. As suggested below, this is not a ranking but more of a chronology by release and discovery.
"Whaaaaaaat, only 109 songs??? You're a piker, pp."
Yeah, but we've listened to (or sampled) thousands of new songs this year and cried crocotears leaving out dearly beloveds from the list. So this is actually quite a winnowing, a harvesting, a curation, if you will. Only the choicest numbers for y/our delectation. Plus also there's actually more than 109. (See below.) Plus you can go to our Powerpopulist Playmoss Collection to see/hear monthly favorites and genre-specific playlists. Oodles of them.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy. The songs are listed pretty close to the order in which we discovered them, although songs by the same artist are grouped together. And btw, Playmoss wouldn't show the artist name for some of the songs, so here is that valuable information
#8 - Tobin Sprout - Future Boy Today/Man Of Tomorrow
40 - R. Stevie Moore & Jason Falkner - Horror Show
42 - Wiretree - J. F. Sebastian
45 - Alain Pire Experience - The Sun Don't Shine
78 - Walker Brigade - Voodoo Doll
Also, Playmoss wouldn't smoothly play some of our faves, so we're adding them below. So, yeah, there are actually more than 109.
Bandname = Free Machines
Here's wishing you a Great New Year, musically and otherwise.

Faves from The Final Active Listener Sampler: Fogbound, Invaderband, Nuvem Leopardo, Emily Jones
First, the good news: we've just been graced with a new and customarily fab comp of psych and poppsych from The Active Listener. Now the bad: as any fool (and we proudly qualify) can tell by the sampler title, it's the last one from the marvelous Master Nathan Ford. We've been enriched by his superb comps for several years now and thank him most heartily. Below are our four most fave from this swansong of songs. You can download all 21 tunes for a mere $1 total. (Readers in Lesotho will of course pay in loti. Bandcamp should help you convert to your local currency.)
Those Fogbound freebies we posted previously are still freely available here.

Animal Camera Clicks Again
Yes, indeed, The Legend Continues, and we couldn't be happier. (Well, maybe we could be under certain circumstances, but, hey, you know, all's good with this groovy tuneage is basically what we're saying.) Burien band Animal Camera clicked our twanger immediately upon first listen, and now we find it weren't no fluke, for they do it again! (i.e., the twanger continues merrily to twang).
We just now discovered in our email boxe they've issued "a collection of songs from the unfinished 'Smooth EP'," whatever that might mean. No matter, what's here is good/groovy poppsych, as we hope you will soon hear. Below we're posting our three faves, all available for name-your-price download at Bandcamp. Last time we forewent "French Girls," sending you to KEXP Blog, where we had first enjoyed close encounters of the heard kind. So, ooh-la-la, we're now glad to give it a whirl right here in our own impersonal element. Perhaps we're being a little unwontedly/unwantedly chatty, so we'll stuff a cork and go to embed, after, that is, letting you know they're still at Facebook.

Whyte Horses - Promise I Do to Pop Or Not
Big mwah to The Finest Kiss for the headsup on superb Manchester psychpop collective Whyte Horses. The band is composed of Dom Thomas, Jim Noir, and members of Doves, Belle & Sebastian, and The Go! Team. Read all about it at TFK and download/listen below.
"Promise I Do" is a great big WAV file, so you might want to convert it after downloading. You can hear more Whyte Horses songs at the CRC Records SoundCloud page and buy the excellent May 2016 release Pop Or Not here, here, here, or here.

Egyptian Blue Share The Rot
Man/Woman/Whatever, we love those Erik Blood songs so much we haven't wanted to obtrude another post that drives them down the page! (Anyway, that's our excuse and we're sticking with it (for now, at least.)))) But blogging being what it is, we must move on. And happily we do sow (further seed)
We found these Colchester lads at Cotswoldsblog The Mad Mackerel and are frightfully glad we did. If you like the poppsycher below, go to SoundCloud for more downloadable action.
Did we say "Colchester"? Wow, we've been there, got friends there . . . Hi, Mo, Nigel, Pat!

Captured in the Great Northwest: Animal Camera
We first encountered these Seattle/Burien psychpoppers at KEXP Blog and were so "turned on" as to sample every song they've encaged at Bandcamp. Below are our favorites. We encourage you to visit that KEXP post to hear/maybe download their newest number, "French Girls." You can 'book 'em here.
We also particularly liked Friends #4 & 6.
