Deathwatch Space Marine - Captain and Spartan - Done!

Hello All! Another week, further additions to the Deathwatch force! This week sees the addition of a Terminator Captain and a Spartan Land Raider!

Captain

This Character I've had for a while - this was one of the limited edition runs with a chaplain (soon to be done also). The model has had the same scheme as all the other Deathwatch Space Marines with details picked out. I've added a U for the Ultramarines.

Spartan Land Raider

Firstly - I love this kit! I did a basic paint/wash for the interior then painted the tank as per the normal. I had the tracks as a separate part which made it so much easier. I've gone for the Heavy Bolters, as per the Spartan rules for 40K - I may add a second one with Lascannons as an addition to the Quad-Lascannon sponsons.

Happy with the results! LH  (20pts)

Deathwatch Land Raider - Done

Hello all!

Thanks for stopping by - another week, another comleted model.

This time its a ride for my FirstBorns, one of my favourite tanks, the Land Raider! I've had this waiting to be completed for a while.

The tank has been painted like the rest of my Deathwatch force, with a black undercoat, metallic black base, hightlights with Eshin Grey, then Thunderhawk Blue. Red has been used across the weapons to tie in the with force. I've also added, like the other tanks, a silver panel on the left of the tank, and a colour one to denote the commanders chapter of origin - this on is Blue with a U, for the Ultramarines.

Thanks for looking! LH (10 points)

Relictors Space Marine Land Raider - Terminus Ultra Pattern

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by to have a look at my latest addition to the Relictors Battle Company arsenal, a Terminus Ultra Pattern Land Raider - this is a beast of a tank and in these days of Imperial Knights and 40K scale Titans, this tank was originally designed as over the top Apocalypse tank, but now would fit in nicely.
I love this front view, yes count them, 3x TL Lascannons and 2x Sponson Lascannons - why is it not the same as the GW out of the box, well, the truth is that design sucks! The rear TL Sponson guns cannot fire forward because the single Lascannons are in the way! So, I polled what I should do back in 2011... yes this has taken awhile to be completed!! The poll was found here with suggestions of how I should mount the guns. The results, here, said mount as Triple Sponsons, which was my favourite option too.
Lord Halfpenny got around to doing his Terminus Ultra "Invictus" with Predator Turrets on top, seen here. I got as far as a WIP, here, in Oct last year before it went back into the closet of doom - but finally its completed!
I have used the Forge World Extra Armour upgrade to make it look more meaty and fit for task as a Titan Slayer, I also added extra bits from Rhino Razorback top plates to show extra ventilation grilles needed to cool the Lascannon capacitors inside, I reversed a side door to show more ventilation grilles and added a jet engine fan assembly on top similar to the fans on a Vindicator top plate, but bigger!
Here you can see the door ventilation grill, similar to what Lord Halfpenny did for his Terminus Ultra.
I also added a Command Frame SM sensor package to denote the extra sensors this tank would require for targeting so many Lascannons together, and of course, the sharp eyed among you have noticed riding in the cupola a certain Sergeant Chronus for a lovely boost to Ballistic Skill!
Here you can see the trimmed down plates from a Rhino, I think it makes the tank look different enough from a 'normal' Godhammer Pattern, the Extra Armour helps too! I also put some spikes around the vent on top as a nod to the dubious practices of the Relictors dabbling in Chaos to fight Chaos, and some Razorback front spikes on the front of the tank to indicate that this tank does not use its Assault Ramp, as it does not have any transport capacity because the internals are full of those Lascannon capacitors!
I painted it exactly as I did all my other Relictors tanks, using the accent colour of Bleached Bone (Ushabti Bone) to put emphasis on the number of Lascannon barrels this thing has ;)  The main colour is Codex Grey (and Army Painter Uniform Grey) and washed with Nuln Oil and highlighted Administratum Grey. The golds are Gehennas Gold, washed with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted Auric Armour Gold and Runefang Steel. The weathering is a little Calthan Brown (Mournfang Brown).
Here is a close up of Sergeant Chronus, the spear of Macragge, lent to the Relictors... I love his helmet, so Ipainted his Gaunlets to match the heavy-metal vibe the helmet portrays. Behind him you can see the Command Frame Sensor package.
How did I convert the Lascannons, well using a spare set of Razorback Lascannons, I trimmed them at just behind the barrel length and affixed to the Land Raider sponson assembly as the pictures show.

Right, this beast should make short work of an Imperial Knight over the length of the Battlefield, hopefully...BS5 and TL, hitting on 2's and re-rolling 3x Lascannons... lets hope those pesky Ion Shields don't save them all!

Thanks for dropping by, cheers all, Siph.

Relictors Land Raider Terminus Ultra WIP

Back in 2011 (I know, I know...eons ago!!) I polled the humble readers of this blog what sort of sponson design a Terminus Ultra should have, (that post can be found here), the comical can't shoot at the same target GW design, the innovative Lord Halfpenny turreted design, an extended sponson design or a triple sponson design, your results pleased me as that was what I thought looked awesome... I'm pleased to say after 4 years of distraction, I finally got some progress to report!...

So, my tardiness in getting progress on a readers poll is not great, but I hope you think this design is better! Thanks for dropping by - see I eventually get back to you...   Siph

Iron Warriors - Land Raider

Hi everyone - today I am showing off my Iron Warriors Land Raider that I painted ages ago but forgot to take pics of...so sorry about that...

As with most of my vehicles, the Land Raider is kitted out with Forgeworld doors to fit in with the rest of the army.

I've added a couple of little extras to the model; some lock-boxes and fuel tanks I had lying around and a little missile launcher that can be a counts-as Havok Launcher.
The Lsscannons got a bit of blue glowing effects so that it also matches with the components of my army with Plasma or big glowy engines (that's a technical term in the grim-dark).

Terrain and Scenery - Wrecked Landraider

Continuing my progress in the fight against grey plastic scenery for our Weemen to fight over, I've just completed a rather expensive piece of scenery - A Forgeworld Space Wolves Spaced Armour Landraider!
Fear not, this was purchased on the cheap with a load of space wolves which I eventually sold, making a nice profit on the Wulfen I might add, and this part of the lot was missing the weapons and  headlights and top hatch so I added a spare hatch and then hatched a plan...
I got my Jigsaw saw out and hacked off a slice of the landraider from one side, used the hacked pieces as wreckage / thrown tracks and painted it up as a wreck. The model was basecoated black then given a liberal drybrush of Macharius Orange to simulate rust before a drybrush of Boltgun Metal/Leadbleacher before targeting bits like tracks or viewports or SW markings with some spot colour, a hint of Astronomican Grey on some larger panels to hint at it's long lost Chapter heritage and then based as my normal reciepe of Calthan Brown with a Kommando Khaki and Bleached Bone drybrush.
The front view shows the angle the Jigsaw hacking acheived, giving the illusion of being half buried and forgotten with some dirt resting in the crevases etc... hope you like my quick and easy method of doing a rusting hulk themed piece of scenery to fight over.

Relictors Landraider Terminus - Sponsons Poll Result

Thank-you for everyone who voted on the poll in the sidebar over the last few weeks, and the majority wins. I will be making triple side sponsons. I rather liked this look when I first saw it so I am glad that is the general concensus too.

I have already purchased a Razorback for the Lascannon Fwd Turret, and a Godhammer Landraider for the body. I have some vent gubbins as well as an aircraft turbofan assembly to make some sort of cooling fan assembly (lots of lascannon generators inside) and Sergeant Relic-taro Chronus will make an appearance as his BS5 and ignore Shaken or Stunned results will be of great benefit!

It will also have the FW Extra Armour kit, befitting of it's Anti Tank role - and it 'beefs' it up a little too.

I'm back to work soon, so when this will get finished I don't know, however I will post progress as it happens here.

Thanks for reading.

Poll - How to Mount Landraider Terminus Lascannons

How to mount all the Lascannons... please vote in the margin. Poll closes Bonfire Night >>>>>>>>
Like the Stock variant? Hmmm... good marketing shot, doesn't show that all the guns can't point forward!

Or like this using Predator Turrets on top http://weemen.blogspot.com/2010/08/land-raider-terminus-invictus.html like Pornstarjedi did.

Or like this extending the side sponsons out http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmcgreen/5797543449/in/photostream/

Relictors Landraider Godhammer Pattern "Zhiggae"

Hello Readers, this is the latest addition to the Relictor's growing Battle Company, the Godhammer Pattern, Landraider "Zhiggae".

I opted out of fitting the Multi-Melta, I know its only a cheap add-on but survivable anti-tank weapon, however with the PoftMS, I intend aiming one Twin-Linked Lascannon at one target, and the other using the PoftMS at another, so leave the other short range Landraiders, Redeemer and Crusader with the shorter range Anti-Tank Multi-Melta's instead.

The side doors are from FW, I opted to leave the front hatch as the standard kit and will 'bling' the eventual Crusader variant with a nice front hatch. And I have some Extra Armour for bulking out the eventual Terminus, once I can decide where I want to mount the extra single sponson Lascannons... triple side sponson, on top like Pornstarjedis, or FW Razorback turret type on top or Pred sponsons higher up and rear of side sponsons? Any suggestions? But not as the GW stock standard, blocking fire arcs of main armament! Stoopid. Maybe a poll is needed>>>>>>

I've weathered the tracks and surrounds with a bit of stippled mud to match all my other vehicles and as before, the LR has a crossed skull icon on the front (by PoftMS sensor) and some Chaos chains, visually linking her with the rest of my Armoury.

Now this is behind me, what's next... hmmm, maybe another Dreadnought in prep for the 3-way at the end of the month, and to finish of the chassis for the 2nd Whirlwind. And eventually I'll finish of the last squad of Devastators and HQ for my entire Battle Company - just missing these and 3 transports to have a Codex complete Battle Company (plus a considerable lot of extras!)

Thanks for stopping by. Siph out.

Relictors Landraider Achilles 'Maximus'

I've just finished a new addition to the Relictors Armoury, with a rare and ancient Landraider design, the Landraider Achilles. This is a FW and Plastic kit with two twin-linked Multi-Meltas, a Thunderfire cannon (awesome fun) and I've added a Hunter killer for first turn shooting when the main (edit: Multi-Melta) armament is out of range, but at 335pts - expensive but totally worth it!The latest battle between Relictors and Pornstarjedi's Ultramarines saw it shrug off Melta fire (Ferromantic Invulnerability - no 2D6 Pen Melta or Lance effect) and Thunderhammer hits (AV14 - needing 6 to glance) and even when penetrated, a minus 1 modifier to the damage result meaning it will never explode (except from Destroyer weapons!).It has no Assault doors so disembarkation is normal and has a troop carrying capacity of 6 - enough for an IC and Honour/Command Squad! Anyway, hope you like. I need to add an honour marking to his flank for being tank of the match! Or for just being awesome. Edit: I have now added the normal weathering to the tracks and track guards to match the rest of my Relictors tanks.

Land Raider Terminus 'Invictus'

Hi all,

Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of current posts on the Weemen site, Siph has been away with work and I have taken a new job which has seen me living in away from home each week, thus time for blogging has been reduced over the last few months.

I would like to welcome the6thdegree to Weeman, and look forward to seeing his posts on his tyranid army! (I can now paint up my dead nid's on my veterans to match the nid scheme!)
Following a recent post regarding the WIP of my Land Raider Terminus, I am proud to be able to show you the near finished project. The final parts will be to transfer up the tank, and add a couple of the forgeworld brass etchings to finish the 'titan killer'.
As you can see I opted to not use the standard GW terminus kit. I felt that the tank looked OK, but could look better with the way the weapons were positioned. Also the 'godhammer' lascannons could not be positioned correctly straight ahead due to the single lascannon sponsons. As discussed in the WIP, I found the inspiration from finding in my games drawer a LR with a predator turret sat on the chassis, - thus the invictus terminus was born!
I hope you like the results, I'm pleased with the way the tank looks. The tank itself looks bigger than a normal land raider, which was the effect I wanted. I have also given the tank Chronus- I mean, who wouldn't want 5 BS5 lascannon's with 3 twin linked re-rolls!!

Ultramarine WIP Vanguard Veterans and Land Raider Terminus

Hi one and all!!

Finally I've got my camera talking to my computer, so I can share some of my recent WIP's..

Firstly I've got my converted Vanguard Veterans. These bad boys are tooled up to the max for some hardcore close combat. After reviewing the rules, and wargear available I decided to go for an extra uber unit, designed to go either go after characters or elite units. After seeing how potent Assault Terminators armed with a combination of power weapons and thunder hammer/storm shields, I decided to combine both of these into one unit, thus a combat squad (to be increased to 10) of Vanguards armed with power weapons and storm shields with jump packs. Thus an extremely hard hitting unit, with a very high survivability factor- Add on top the great rules for deep striking and assaulting on the same turn, this unit becomes quiet a scary unit!
For these guys I decided to use the forgeworld Red Scorpions Assault troops for the bodies, as the torsos have more parifiala on them, in keeping with the 'veteran' look. I also went for the bear head look, for some reason I associate bear heads with veteranness (Is that a word??!) Thus I selected five heads, two from the command sprue- one with a bionic eye, the other with respirator, one from the tactical sprue with half a metal head, and the final two from the Space Wolves sprue. My favour head has to be the Space Wolve head with the long beard/bionic eye, this guy reminds me of my favour character from Flash Gordon, Prince Vultan the Hawkman- played by Brain Blessed. To make the squad stand out further I didn't clip the legs completely of the sprue on one foot, thus making the models appear to be in flight/landing. Power Weapons are taken from a number of sources, the bionic arm from the commander sprue is used, with a Power Sword from the Dark Angels sprue, a Power Axe from both the Assault sprue and Black Templar's sprue are both used. The Sergeants Thunder hammer is taken from the deamonhunter Corteaz. The Storm Shields are second gen terminators Shields, these are slightly smaller than the new Terminator shields, All marines have been given the shoulder pads with terminator honours, and the 'U' symbols bought from GW direct. I hope you like!

My second major project is my Land Raider Terminus Ultra- 'Invictus'. The original Terminus looks great, and fits perfectly within a Space Marine force, however I- along with many aren't keen on the way the sponsons sit. The major problem is that the GodHammer Lascannons can not point directly forward due to the signal sponson Lascannon. I had seen the image that Siph had uploaded of the Terminus with a triple barrelled GodHammer- I love the look, however I wanted some thing different. I toyed with various options until I found the answer in my draws- I had gone into the draw to find another model, and discovered starring straight back at me a landraider with an Mk 2 predator turret sat on top of the chassis! I quickly grabbed two predator annihilator turrets and the landy-and wow! the look I wanted for my Terminus!
The raised portion of the chassis was sanded down to one level, and then raised using 3 top hull doors off a couple of rhinos. These parts were either sliced in to thin strips, or had the connecting teeth cut off. All parts were sanded down once finished. Two predator turrets were also sliced down, with the vent part cut away. It was then a case of trail and error to find the perfect spot for the turrets to sit. Once the position was finalised I then added the doors from the interior of the Land Raider to just sit in between the turrets, thus covering up the sanded away details of the original chassis. The next area of interest was the sponsons- whether to have the annihilator turret and single lascannon sponson, or the GodHammer sponson, and a converted turret.. In my eyes there was only winner- the Land Raider without the famous GodHammer sponsons would be a sacrilege! Thus the Autocannon predator turret was chopped up and the cannon replaced with a lascannon. I really like the look of the single lascannon, as the weapon mount has a sensor inbuilt- perfect for the machine spirt! The other part to note is Chronos, whats better than 5 lascannons, 3 twin linked? easy-5 lascannons, 3 twin linked at BS5!!
Like the Vanguards, the Land Raider needs to be completed, with a view to be completed this weekend!
