Chaos Daemons - Flesh Hounds of Khorne

Hello all, thanks for dropping by. I added five more Flesh Hounds of Khorne to my existing five Hounds. Some head swaps between the set meant no two hounds were the same.
I followed the same scheme as the first five. Contrast paints over Wraithbone primer, Flesh Tearers Red and Shyish Purple. The vanes around the head were picked out with Squig Orange and the Claws Eshin Grey, Dawnstone and Fortress Grey.
The Collar of Khorne was Brazen Brass, highlighted Fulgrite Copper and washed Agrax to dull it back down. I love the variation in colour of the Shyish Purple, Contrast Paints are ideal for organics.
The spikes and tail blades were Shyish Purple over the Fleshtearers Red. The tongue also Squig Orange and the teeth Ushabti Bone and contrast Skeleton Horde. The final touch was a little Nihilakh Oxide on the Brass Collar and the bases my usual recipe of Mournfang Brown, drybrushed Karak Stone and Ushabti Bone. Tufts were from Gamers Grass.
And now the whole pack, hopefully they will be quick enough and robust enough to get across the field and tear into the enemy!

Cheers, Siph (10pts)

Chaos Daemons - Flesh Hounds of Khorne

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. I have completed my first of a couple of packs of Khorne Flesh Hounds, to accompany Karanak and the second pack will ensure at least some will survive the shooting phase to close with the enemy! A major weakness in Chaos Daemon armies.
These were a cinch to paint using the Contrast paints over Wraithbone primer, Flesh Tearers Red and Shyish Purple. The vanes around the head were picked out with Squig Orange and the Claws Eshin Grey, Dawnstone and Fortress Grey.

A great little kit, the next pack will have the heads mixed around so no carbon-copies. Fairly simple but effective, I love the contrast paints for these Daemons.

Chaos Daemons - Bloodletters of Khorne

Hello all, thanks for dropping by, this week's addition to my Daemonic Incursion is another squad of Bloodletters, these can boost my current blob of 10 Bloodletters, giving me the option to run a squad of 20 if needed and an Icon of Chaos to help 'reality blink' and restore numbers.
These have a dark red to black fade scheme on the horns rather than horn, adding to the horrific substance of these, and firey Hellblades. I have also included an Instrument of Chaos to give bonuses if I pay the points.
The Khorne Daemon rules give bonuses to attacks and charging, as Khorne loves to fight!
The Icon of Chaos is a big symbol of the wrathful Chaos God of Khorne, covered in blood, I used some Blood for the Blood God technical paint for a wet blood look, befitting of Khorne.
Coming at you! RRRRARGH!

Chaos Daemons - Skull Cannon of Khorne

Hello All, I needed some ranged firepower in my Daemon force, just sitting back and taking punishment for two turns before you can close the enemy is quite irritating, to just lobbing a few shots back to make them think about positioning and some losses is quite fun.
The base is a resin one picked up on eBay for a few quid after the original was lost, and I'm pleased now it was lost. The extra skulls are about to be new ammunition!
The Skull Cannon lobs fiery skulls filled with the wrath of Khorne at the enemy and ignores cover, eats through Scout Armour and is even effective against the hardiest Dreadnoughts with S8 D6 shots.
In Melee the Cannon bites back too, the Bloodletters attack with their Hellblades and if an enemy is slain by the Cannon's Crushing Impact (mortal wounds on 5+), the Cannon feasts on the corpse and regains wounds...
A decent long range firepower unit to the growing Daemonic Incursion, at first I hated the model, but it's grown on me, its goofy maw and the grisly ammo chute...

Chaos Daemons - Karanak, The Hound of Vengeance

Hello All, thanks for dropping by, the latest addition to my Chaos Daemon incursion, I painted a named Character, Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance!
From GW "Ever watchful, ever hungry, Karanak is the physical manifestation of the Blood God’s wrathful vengeance. Once he has the scent of his quarry, this tireless predator will not cease in his hunt until he tastes their torn flesh between his fangs". So, I'm looking forward to launching across the battlefield to slake his thirst!
He is a quite quick and decent Melee choice alongside some Flesh Hounds of Khorne, he also has the ability with the Brass Collar of Khorne, to deny up to two Psychic Powers, as Khorne cannot abide witches!
This was my first time doing some flames, which I think turned out quite effective - many people forget that the brightest colours are within, not at the end. The main colour for the Hound is Contrast Flesh Tearers Red, over Wraithbone. The contrast line don't work well on Power Armour (imho) but excel on organics such as these skin textures. The teeth are Skeleton Horde, the spikes over the red base with some Syish Purple contrast.
The Brass Collar was finished off with some Fulgrite Copper and some Nihilakh Oxide. Quick and effective paint job, I can't wait to do the Flesh Hounds now. A fast choice and decent in Melee is what my daemons need more of, getting there is the hardest against the firepower of the 8th Edition armies.

Kytan - Daemon Engine of Khorne

Hi All!

The growing Daemon force is added to this week with the addition of the Kytan Daemon Engine!
This model I decided to pose mid-fight, with the model jumping between combat. The left leg is pinned into the base to support the pose. The arms, weapons and head have been angled to support the motion of the model. The two shoulder pauldrons were slightly angled to further add to the movement of the model.

The original pose I thought didn't add anything to the model as was very static in a model that should have a lot of motion in it.
I've modelled a dead T'au Ghostkeel to the base, using a similar scheme to the T'au forces I might be going up against... (Cheeky, Siph). The model was hacked and re-posed into a crumpled, dead position as if the Kytan has just smashed the Ghostkeel in two! The Chaos Gods care not for stealth trickery.
The model had a metallic red base, with the edges painted in brass - very Khorne like! with then a good coating of Blood for the blood god over the axe head.
The spaces within the torso and eyes were painted a bright Orange - to represent the fires of Khorne burning inside!
Hope you like!

Cheers, Lord Halfpenny (and 20 painting points)

Chaos Daemons - Khorne 40k Additions

Hi One and All,

A quick post on some additional completed daemons for my daemon army, this time of a Khorne flavour!

Samus, Daemon Primarch of the Ruinstorm

I opted to paint Samus with a beast look, with his skin brown rather than the normal 'red' appearance. The model was also built up on a base to change the overall look of the pose. The armour was painted with the same metallic style as the Brass Scorpion and Kytan, and then the model had several coats of Blood for the Blood God over his body. The dead marine was painted in the style of a Dark Angel, I plan to add addition helmets to the model as he kills models in battle as trophies.
Skulltaker

This model I've had for ages, and have done before as Skulltaker on a Juggernaut, however 8th Edn has seen an end to that with GW not issuing rules for it now. I've used the same scheme as before with the flame sword to match my other Bloodletters.
Uraka, The Warfiend

Again, this model has been sat on my 'to do pile' for ages, and finally had time to complete the model. This was painted over a black undercoat, with the skin painted red like my Bloodthirsters. I've tried to paint the model so that it fits with my Khorne units, however it stands out, the horns were painted black, different to the brown/cream horns I've done previously.
Again, I've saved space to add additional helmets/skulls for major kills in game.

Skull Cannon

This Skull Cannon was painted in 2 stages, the cannon and the Bloodletters. The cannon was drybrushed grey, then silver over a black undercoat. The Bloodletters completed as per my other Bloodletters.
The new units on the battle board
Thanks for looking!

Chaos Daemons - Bloodcrushers of Khorne - by Nick at The Burning Eye

Hi All, thanks for dropping by. As regular readers may know, I have a rather large to-do pile I am currently painting my way through, but I have also a hankering for a colourful army which is totally different from my grey Relictors Power Armour, or my silver and blue Necron Dynasty.  My hobby butterfly affliction means I also start a fair few armies, namely Tau, Custodians, Genestealer Cult, Ad Mech, Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle - needless to say I have plenty to keep me busy.

So, I farmed out some Daemons to blogger buddies who were branching out into Commissions to help them develop their painting styles and fledgling business. Nick Thrower at the Burning Eye has done some before for me, my Fateweaver and Screamers of Tzeentch  Rob Hill at 30Kplus40K has also painted my Daemonettes and Pink Horrors - thank-you both. Please check out their blogs and ask if they are doing Commissions if you like these.
Anyway, on to the Bloodcrushers! Love the raw brutal power look of these beasts, they look great on the newer oval bases, a lot more presence, and I love the glowing sword straight from the heat of the fires of damnation Nick has achieved, the middle Bloodletter rider really is keen to crash into the mortal ranks somewhere!
These look really great, I love the fact that Nick went the extra mile and painted from a white undercoat so the internal glow of yellows and oranges retained its brightness, I think he regretted that decision tho! Nick even based them in my usual colours and style, I just added my flock mix.
I am absolutely pleased with my latest Commission units, Nick has also been working on a unit of Plaguebearers, a Fiend of Slannesh and a unit of Seekers of Slannesh, which I'll be posting in due course. I mailed straight from GW to Nick, so he also prepped and built these all.
Here's a shot of them in their new home, in the WeeMen room at casa Siph. Great additions, really pain free and smooth transaction with Nick and he is a pleasure to do business with. Very reasonable rates too, I guess I also got a blogger buddy discount! Top bloke - check his commission page out if you require something commissioned. Cheers mate.

Thanks for having a look-see, Cheers, Siph.
