Allee Der Kosmonauten / Crude B.E. split 10"

It's been quite some time since my last post, but things are very busy: I'm spending more time with my child, I'm in-between changing posts, I'm pretending to be studying for my PHD plus we had gone on vacation. I think that this will be the frequency of writing for some more time.

Anyway, here's a superb split between Allee Der Kosmonauten, whose only 8-minute song here I saw live years ago and it completely floored me, it's an amazing rocking punk tune turned into melodic-epic d-beat crust, and Crude B.E. on the other side, who play heavy powerviolence/grindcore with rocking and stoner moments, good fun. 2001 10" on Thought Crime Records.

Sete Star Sept - Beast World tape

At the request of a good reader fella I'm posting the most recent 7S7 full-length, which has been released on tape, lp and cd. It's a great noisecore experience; side a features some of their most savage albeit focused and tightly-played material, slightly leaning more on the grindcore side and featuring the shrieked vocals of Kae Takahashi, which is close to John Chang's awesomeness. Side b consists only of drums and vocals (this time by drummer Kiyasu Ryosuke-has also played in Fushitsusha!) playing short tracks of improvised noisecore. All tracks of this side are entitled like "Bitch Ass Motherfucker" or "Shitlicker" and they are played by shabby drums and gruff growls, in a lovingly retarded style this side of old Gerogerigege. 2016 tape on Revulsion Records.

Sete Star Sept - Best Hit Collection 2004-2009 cd

Awesome Japanese noisecore/grindcore with a rock'n'roll edge ala Gore Beyond Necropsy. This is a cd featuring tracks from various splits and tapes from 2004-2009. Apart from the expected short blasts of fury, there are a number of crushing sludge tracks up to par with the Japanese greats of sludge Corrupted, along with a 16-minute psychedelic jazz turned black doom masterpiece! 2014 cd on At War With False Noise.

Force - Force cd (Japanese grindcore)

Force was a Japanese grindcore band that had in its ranks that had Eiichiro Suzuki, guitarist of Hellchild, Tsukasa Harakawa, vocalist of Swarrrm, and Youichiro Natsume, drummer on Melt Banana's Charlie, and that sadly released only one album. Seeing from the people involved in this band, it shouldn't be any surprise that the music here rocks unforgivingly, combining early Brutal Truth with the madness of Discordance Axis and a good dose of hardcore and rock 'n' roll for a good mosh in your bedroom. 1998 cd on Ritual Records.

Archagathus / Terror Firmer ‎– Archagathus / Horrendous Whirlwind Grindcore Fiends split 7"

I fucking adore Archagathus. They aren't the most technically-proficient grindcore band, nor do they play the fastest blastbeats or the most speed-dazzling tremolo riffs. But their punky attitude provides so much energy to their music, their crusty grooves are so barbaric that you just want to jump around the house while doing a vomit growl. The punky style that they showcase in all their releases is here completely prominent, so this release is totally guaranteed grind excitement. On the flipside, there's the Italian grind/thrash/powerviolence band Terror Firmer. They're ok, though I don't like their excessively trebly sound, and anyway after the storm that Archagathus is, what can you do? An exception is their last track, which is different and doomy. 2016 10" jointly released by Ratto Records, PoGohai Records, Grindfather Productions, Soondoongi Records, Grind Your Mind Records, Extreme Terror Production, Dead rasputin prod., Repulsive Medias, Goodbye Mankind, Nuclear Alcoholocaust, GxExTx Syro, ¡ZAS! Autoproduzioni, Hecatombe Records.

Archagathus / Lt. Dan split 7"

Well, well. One would say "dude this is grindcore, it's like the next 7", but sisters and brothers this one's really good. Archagathus are at their punkiest/grooviest, it's like hearing an oi!/old punk band doing grindcore covers, and their double growl vomit/mindless high-pitched screams are so fucking great. Lt. Dan (one man American grindcore project, with a logo font taken from Agathocles) play ultra-fast grind/crust close to early Nasum, and the loveliest about them apart from the great cymbal action and the punky attitude is the high-pitched side of the vocals, which are probably just "ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-taaaaaaaa" awesomeness. Git it! 2014 7" on Grindfather Productions and Bloodspit Records.

Archagathus / Violent Gorge split 7"

One of a series of splits between Archagathus and Violent Gorge. The Archagathus side contains guaranteed grindcore madness with awesome whiny high-pitched screams alongside the expected growls, and super-fun groovy parts combined with blastbeats and old-Entombed-like riffs. Violent Gorge plays even heavier and more old-school-death-metal influenced grindcore with some very nice doomy/Autopsy-esque riffs. 2013 7" jointly released by Don't Fear The Night, Acid Redux Productions, Grindfather Productions, and Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench.

Archagathus / No Thought ‎– Horrendous Insanity Atrocity Why?? / No Thought split 7"

Archagathus was the grandson of Agathocles, tyrant of the Greek colony of Syracuse in Sicily and possible murderer of his grandfather. Archagathus is also a grindcore band from Canada that adores Agathocles and tries to outdo them in terms of how many splits they will release. They play very exciting punky grindcore, with equal aggressive heavy blastbeat parts and barbaric groovy moshy moments. They're one of the best grind bands around, and their side of this 7" proves it, adding some excellent doomy Autopsy-like intros. No Thought was unfortunately a short-lived band from Denver, playing ultra aggressive grind akin to early Nasum and Rotten Sound, which means involving a lot of maddening crust/d-beat parts, while the blastbeat moments remind a lot of Extreme Conditions-era Brutal Truth (along with the screamed vocals which also remind a bit of Kevin Sharp's screams). The ultra slow doom parts are also one of a kind. Great shit. 2013 7" on Uranium Overdose.

Energumeno ‎– Extractos Ano 2015 tape

Energumeno is a improv noisegrindpunk trio from Spain, comprising two thirds of Potabilizadora (Javi and Manolo-also owner of R.O.N.F. Records) plus Ale from the inimitably grammatically wrong Mentally Masturbation. Not much to say, if you like your noisecore as incoherent and loud as possible, you'll like it. There's also a nice "one-two-three-four" Gero imitation around the 7th minute and later on track one, so there you go. 2015 tape on R.O.N.F. Records.

Melanocetus Murrayi - Entropy Of The Universe / Megalodon Harsh Tones tape

The latest release of Melanocetus Murrayi finds them experimenting with a more cave-like sound: less relentless chaotic in-yer-face noise, more reverb and bass-heavy, with anguished vocals full with delay. 2016 tape on Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench and Autistic Society System Filth-Records.

Melanocetus Murrayi / Chappa'ai - Split Tape

The return of Melanocetus after six years of inactivity finds them with a changed line-up in half, with a heavier, reverb-heavy sound that sounds more spacey. On the other side, there's Chappa'ai, the noise project of members of the amazing Hungarian grindcore band SxOxTxE and they feature one track of monstrous harshnoise/noisecore with heavy electronic noise, bestial tortured screams from the belly of hell and drum smashing. I've seen both Chappa'ai and SxOxTxE live and they are the absolute business, plus they're great people. Give them a chance, they rock. 2015 tape on Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench, Autistic Society System Filth-Records, Noise Not War Records, HappyHappyNoiseNoise, and Blastbeat Worship.

Psychotic Sufferance / Melanocetus Murrayi split 7"

One side of Gore Beyond Necropsy noise 'n' roll-styled noisecore by long-running crazy Malaysians Psychotic Sufferance, with great wah solos. On the flip side a chaotic whirlwind of relentless blastbeats, psychedelic bass-and-guitar noise and demonic, possessed screaming by Melanocetus Murrayi, like a mix of Deicide's Glen Benton and the girl from The Exorcist on really bad PCP. 2009 7" on No Fucking Labels, Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench, Grind Block, Alcoholic Desaster and NHDIYSTREC.

Industrial Noise / Melanocetus Murrayi split tape

Industrial Noise is from Brazil, but their name is deceptive as they play cool punky/crusty grindcore, raw and unpolished, as it should be. Melanocetus Murrayi offer a side of some of their weirdest vocals, sustained by insanely fast and unstoppable drum blastbeats and piercing noise. 2009 tape on Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench and Abyssal Noise.

My Minds Mine & Suffering Quota split 7''

Legendary Dutch grinders My Minds Mine returned last year with a release after breaking up in 2002, and they are sharing an 7" with fellow Dutchmen Suffering Quota (one can't but love a band taking their name from an Assück song!). Savage grindcore by both bands with a slight death metal touch, and with perhaps somewhat reduced hardcore punk influences on the part of My Minds Mine. I see there's also a new split lp they've done already with Sick Of Stupidity so I'm eager to hear that too. 2017 7" on Wolfsbane Records.

Various - Making Children's Songs A Threat Again! LP

In 2006 I went to the grindcore festival Obscene Extreme in the Czech Republic, which at that time was the apex of grindcore, crust and powerviolence, but which has now become just another cash-grab mediocrity bringing stupid ass metal bands. Apart from the many awesome bands I saw, and the many drunken dudes running around the stage wearing just girl thongs, I went extreme record hunting in the festival's countless stalls, and probably the best discovery I made there was this cute LP focusing on the theme of alernative/punk/non-hierarchical parenting. Included in the printed material are a number of interviews (both in French and English) with members of grindcore/hardcore punk bands who had become parents, sharing their thoughts on the upbringing of their children. Quite interesting if you want to be a non-oppressive parent.

Musically, the tracks feature grindcore, crust punk, hardcore punk and powerviolence by many bands, with the lyrics focusing on children, growing up and even fairytales! So, there is spoken word introduction in French by Elo, which is members of the French crust band 20 Minutes of Chaos, violent screaming hardcore by Sugar Pie Koko, unhinged grindcore by Zanussi from Spain, an amazing punk/powerviolence track by the Japanese Power Of Idea with vocals in the Jap language shouted by a very cute girlie-girl, a grindcore fairytale about a fox by the Czech Gride , whom I had seen that year at the festival, moshingly cool grindcore by Disarm from Italy, an unnerving and hair-raising psychedelic experimental hardcore nursery rhyme by Karst featuring members of Damad (check out their two albums), fastcore/powerviolence by Jinn from the UK, anarcho/post-punk by Stracony, fast hardcore punk by Migra Violenta from Argentina, straight-edge fastcore by the Dutch Betercore (famous for the anthem "Straight Edge But Not An Asshole), dissonant crust by the French Inertie, epic d-beat crust by the legendary Irish band The Dagda, and the song "Struck by the Wild" by Żegota off Reclaim! which has already been posted here. 2005 red LP on Guerrilla Shooting Records.

PS.: I was too bored to upload all the scanned pics on this post, so instead I've included all of them in the compressed file.
