The Gerogerigegege & Sedem Minút Strachu - Kebab Kaaos/Monolith Dance split 7''

The last Juntaro released in 2020 is yet another split with Slovak noisecore fiends Sedem Minút Strachu, in which he offers an abrasive repetitive unintelligible spoken word field recording, whereas 7MS a pogo-inducing d-beat/grindcore/noisecore party anthem with vomiting vocals in the style of Last Days Of Humanity. 2020 7" on K.A.Z.

Pop Culture Rape Victim ‎– Carbon Monoxide Therapy

Intense harsh noise washes on the symptoms of nicotine withdrawals. I can't really relate as I have never really been a smoker but it's fun. 2005 cdr on Scrotum Records and Recordings For The Summer.

Controlled Death (Masonna)

Controlled Death is the recent alter-ego of Maso Yamazaki/Masonna. After a few years of seeming silence, he has returned both with his dayjob project, but more frequently under the Controlled Death moniker, playing heavy death industrial, similar in perversion to Atrax Morgue, with dark ambient, harsh noise and HNW undertones. Unsettling stuff. Here's a lazy summary of the releases I have managed to obtain, for all of you to make yourselves filthy with.

Blyth Holes ‎– Blyth Graveyard tape

One of the most mysterious recordings of the North-East England underground is this one which seems to commemorate the contributions of Jamie Stewart, Martin Gregory and Waz Hoola to the scene. Actually, it is  an one-off recording by George Proctor (Mutant Ape, Inseminoid, Turgid Animal Records), Ben Jones (Jazzfinger, Mechanical Children), and Dean Glaister (RYN, Erases) playing very lo-fi harsh noise and musique concrète, with the second track being so lo-fi that is almost hypnotic. 2011 tape on Ecstatic Peace! with artwork by Kim Gordon!!!

Inseminoid ‎– Coven cdr

The harshest, most visceral noise Inseminoid have ever made, reaching black metal levels in terms of trebly screeching. 2010 cdr on Turgid Animal.

Inseminoid - Killer Crabs cdr

Fortunately, the tasteless exploitation imagery is now on the back cover, phew. One of the darkest and most subtle Inseminoid releases, with static heavy guitar drone, deep undeground sounds that evoke an eerie atmosphere and some liberating harsh noise at the end. Nice. 2010 cdr on Beartown Records.

Inseminoid ‎– Women Of Wicca tape

A mammoth release of two 49-minute tracks, this shows a more ambient side of Inseminoid. Great strangely calming electronics hover a deep furnace drone and they wouldn't be out of place even in Ulver's Lyckantropen Themes, however weird that might sound. 2009 tape on The Trilogy Tapes.

Inseminoid ‎– Sixty Nines 2Xcdr

One of the most structured Inseminoid releases, containing acoustic guitars, cinematic atmospheres, and a narrative approach to harsh drone. This is as close as it can get to Culver quality, albeit with a noisier edge. 2012 double cdr on Turgid Animal.

Inseminoid ‎– Pagan Anorexia

Starts off with a decayed piano loop recorded on tape that makes you think it's a Basinski record, only to proceed to ice breaking ship engine drone noise; second track begins in a very Culverian fashion: acoustic guitar loop degenerating into fuzzed-out drone, albeit with the guitar playing throughout. One of the most enjoyable Inseminoid releases. 2008 tape on 905 Tapes.

Inseminoid - A Mask For Jennifer cdr

Inseminoid is yet another project of Lee Stokoe of Culver, Witchblood, and Matching Head tapes, and yet another collaboration with George Proctor of Turgid Animal & Legion Blotan Records and Mutant Ape, with a more pronounced affinity from exploitation and porn that in their "daily" projects (which ain't a good thing imo). The sound is very close both to Culver and George Proctor's Karst, albeit somewhat more abstract, and a little bit closer to harsh noise and HNW. Here we get a very lo-fi wallish drone that qualifies very gloomy rainy days after a night of 3 hours of sleep. 2008 cdr on At War With False Noise.

Various ‎– The Japanese / American Noise Treaty 2XCD

Hectic working schedule and boredom allow me no time to upload something less well-known or a meaningful review, so I'm just gonna leave here one of the most classic noise compilation of all time, and probably the greatest example of how good Relapse/Release was in comparison to the commercial metal sewer they have now become. A compilation that features giants such as Merzbow, Masonna, K2, CCCC, Hijokaidan, Incapacitants, The Haters, Macronympha, Walking Time Bombs, Cock E.S.P., Richard Ramirez, and others. 1995 double cd on Release Entertainment.

Matthew Bower / Mattin ‎– A New Form Of Beauty (1975)

I don't quite see the Virgin Prunes reference here; is this supposed to be a remix of VP's recording? What you should expect here is searing guitar harsh noise without any let-up. 2007 cd on Bottrop-Boy.

IDX1274 / Dead Shall Not Have Died In Vain ‎– Split

IDX1274 is from Oregon and plays improvisational noise. He doesn't push the wheel on any account but his noise is harsh, heavy-toned and hypnotic. On a dark, rainy early autumn like this it's one of these things I like hearing after a tiring day at work to put my mind at ease. Dead Shall Not Have Died In Vain plays more lo-fi noise, with additional textures and samples and a little HNW attitude. 2007 cdr on Pottersfield.

Various ‎– Noisenet # 7: UK Noise Compilation tape

Very nice tape featuring loads of UK noise artists, both classics and then-emerging ones,  including Ashtray Navigations, Coits, Neil Campbell, Smell & Quim, Culver, Expose Your Eyes (the tape's highligh IMO), Mlehst, Con-Dom, and Grey Wolves. Do you need anything more than that? 1996 tape on the Taiwanese label Noise (no, not the German label releasing Running Wild records).

The Haters - Drunk On Decay

If I were asked to choose my three most favorite noise albums of all time, this would probably be the first one, followed by Merzbow's Venereology and probably Atrax Morgue's Sickness Report. Is it coincidental that all three have been released by Release/Relapse? I can't even begin to count how many times I've slept to the monotonous nihilistic sound of track one - one of the most soulless, most accurate "musical" reproductions of industrial society? My dad, before his retirement, worked at a dairy factory and many were the times when he took me with him at the factory during his shift, when I was about 9 to 11. Well, the thing I loved doing while waiting for him to be done with his 8-hour work was wander around the place and sneak in the big engine warehouses and become woozy at the vast unchanging sound while shivering from the cold. Well this is exactly how I felt when I first listened to this album. 1997 cd on Release Entertainment.

Melanocetus Murrayi / Chappa'ai - Split Tape

The return of Melanocetus after six years of inactivity finds them with a changed line-up in half, with a heavier, reverb-heavy sound that sounds more spacey. On the other side, there's Chappa'ai, the noise project of members of the amazing Hungarian grindcore band SxOxTxE and they feature one track of monstrous harshnoise/noisecore with heavy electronic noise, bestial tortured screams from the belly of hell and drum smashing. I've seen both Chappa'ai and SxOxTxE live and they are the absolute business, plus they're great people. Give them a chance, they rock. 2015 tape on Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench, Autistic Society System Filth-Records, Noise Not War Records, HappyHappyNoiseNoise, and Blastbeat Worship.

Psychotic Sufferance / Melanocetus Murrayi split 7"

One side of Gore Beyond Necropsy noise 'n' roll-styled noisecore by long-running crazy Malaysians Psychotic Sufferance, with great wah solos. On the flip side a chaotic whirlwind of relentless blastbeats, psychedelic bass-and-guitar noise and demonic, possessed screaming by Melanocetus Murrayi, like a mix of Deicide's Glen Benton and the girl from The Exorcist on really bad PCP. 2009 7" on No Fucking Labels, Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench, Grind Block, Alcoholic Desaster and NHDIYSTREC.

Industrial Noise / Melanocetus Murrayi split tape

Industrial Noise is from Brazil, but their name is deceptive as they play cool punky/crusty grindcore, raw and unpolished, as it should be. Melanocetus Murrayi offer a side of some of their weirdest vocals, sustained by insanely fast and unstoppable drum blastbeats and piercing noise. 2009 tape on Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench and Abyssal Noise.

PTAO / Melanocetus Murrayi - Noisecore Jam 2008 / At War With Garbage Human Beings split cdr

PTAO is a Czech noisecore band with gruff screams, punky blasts and toxic guitar sounds. The track of Melanocetus Murrayi is one of their best. Starts with a great Richard Attenborough sample from his deep-sea documentaries, and proceeds with a savage noisecore swim in a sea of toxic waste and mutant flora and fauna. 2009 cdr on Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench and Abyssal Noise.
