Asunta – Transfiguracja

Yes, more of the same repetitive clarinet melodies, and yes it's equally mesmerizing.

1999 cdr on Hey Joe.

Asunta – Landscapes

Don't remember how I ran into this band, but due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine, it was quite hard to manage to pay a Russian guy who sold it to me, as all common platforms have banned transactions with people from Russia.

This is one of the most mesmerizing, bewitching, meditative musics ever recorded. It is just clarinet-led psychedelic ambient drone essentially playing the same thing over and over but it's so beautiful I would include in the soundtrack of the movie Tangerines.

Originally released as a tape by Nefryt in 1996, my rip is from the 2001 cdr reissue on Lollipop Shop.

Per & Öystein – Evil Noise

Per & Öystein were an improv psych drone duo who also played in Silvester Anfang and Sylvester Anfang II. The music is not very different from what Silvester Anfang were doing, that is noisy underground psych, albeit in a much more abstract manner and with more use of electronics and even more lo-fi. There is a nice guitar epic chord sequence building up around 11:30 but then it stops. 2004 tape on Funeral Folk.

Satanhartalt - Forscrífan tape

Fuck yes new Satanhartalt tape after like 5 years and it's still as ominous and cavernous as ever revolving around an unbelievable dissonant chord. Amazing shit, much better than all that sketchy and untalented bm, punk or whatever Legion Blotan does. 2022 tape on Legion Blotan.

Million Brazilians – Hideous Visions Of Million Brazilians

Hideous Visions Of Million Brazilians (LP, Album) album cover

The second full-length of Million Brazilians is kind of monotonous, one-sided psych-rock/free jazz improv with lots of percussion. Certainly one of their least successful efforts, but a good reader asked for it to be uploaded so there you are. 2010 LP on Psychic Sounds.

Jazzfinger - Bad Timing I

Bad Timing I & II (Limited Edition) album cover

This really was a double cd called Bad Timing I & II, but the box I received had twice the same disc with a different cd cover. Meh. So if anyone has the second disc, please send it over here. Anyway, this is an IMMERSIVE mix of Jazzfinger live performances at their absolute best = not extremely noisy or badly recorded, but with a hypnotic and outright devotional approach. The gigs themselves must have been amazing for the audiences. 2007 cdr on Fuckin' Amateurs.

Million Brazilians - Strange Oasis

This is their most recent release and it's extremely cavernous, minimalist, and ritualistic, as well as much quieter and more esoteric. Which is a great thing when you take a listen to it. Some of the parts would actually be envied by the Wolf Eyes of Undertow. 2019 cd on Nonlocal Research.

Maurizio Bianchi / FRAG - Psychation

Collaboration between MB and Frag (Stephen Burroughs of Head Of David!). It deceptively starts in a very hypnotic and psychedelic manner but it ends up being one of MB's noisiest albums in recent years, while of course maintaining its mind-altering basis. 2020 cd on 4ib Records.

Virus - The Black Flux remastered with bonus track

A masterpiece of lysergic psychedelic experimental metal by one of the most innovative musicians to ever come out of the Norwegian black metal scene, Carl-Michael Eide (Czral), also of Dodheimsgard, Aura Noir and the mighty Ved Buens Ende. When this got out I was working at a record shop and I listened to it throughout my shift, and it still remains my favorite one, over Carheart. By the way, the reformed Ved Buens Ende played my town just before the Covid lockdown, but I didn't go both due to health considerations and to my finishing work late in the evening. Have any of you seen any of the reunion gigs? This was released in 2008 and this is the 2020 remastered reissue on Duplicate Records including a previously unreleased bonus track.

Louise Landes Levi, Timo van Luijk, Bart De Paepe ‎– Kami

This is my first rip with the tiny suitcase turntable I had asked for help about. I somehow managed to reduce the noise/clipping so I would ask you to leave some feedback on the sound. Yes, it's definitely not superb, but I guess it's a little bit more than passable. What do you think? A big thanks to badgerstump, wankerd, and Samuel for their help and contact. This is another great collaboration between Louise Landes Levi, Bart De Paepe and Timo Van Luijk, this time moving a little bit away from sarangi-based psychedelic Indian classical music to more progressive and psychedelic rock territory, which is absolutely successful. 2019 lp on Bart De Paepe's Sloowax.

Br’laab & Acid Boogie Quartet ‎– Contortionist tape

Extremely lysergic and depressive solo music project by Brecht Ameel of Razen/Het Interstedelijk Harmoniumverbond, mixing lute (played through delay and chorus!) and found sounds. Few recordings can sound as grey and lonely as this. 2019 tape on Sloow Tapes.

Razen ‎– Ayîk Adhîsta Adhîsta Ayîk LP

Their most mystical album from those I've heard, it's like a mix between Stephan Micus, avant-garde jazz and drone. Superb. 2019 LP on (K-RAA-K)³.
