Let me begin where I left off.

  It was still winter.

When my life changed.

And then the first bouquet from my garden,

Easter came and went

Little Sadie, a Golden Labrador arrived.

She had me fooled right from the start.

Daffodils and Tulips were next.

Daffodils reaching for skies so blue.

And Sadie is growing like a weed.

Lilacs didn't freeze this year.

Sometimes friends, sometimes not.

A sheltered spot is still needed.
The winds are fierce.

Daisies are back.
The garden is planted. Another garden year has begun.

Take care dear friends.

Fashion Police

What you don't know about me.

You don't know what I wear in my garden.

It's not what you think.

I garden in silks. An ankle length frilly silk skirt to be precise.

Can you guess why?

When the wind blows just a little or a lot, the silk flutters in the breezes...
and scares the mosquitoes away.

What do you wear when you garden?

Have a fabulous Sunday, dear Friends,

Sunday morning is for taking it easy.

My little corner of the world.

Where Sky and water meet as one.

Where Spring is late this year.

Where Blintzes rank supreme on Sunday morning.

And little errant tulips, when gathered together, make a big splash.

That is how we celebrate Sunday morning.

Wishing you a most wonderful and peaceful Sunday.

Tulips say the darndest things.

Don't they.

They stretch and grow in all directions.

They are talking to you.

They keep on growing. Don't they know that part of them was left behind?

Some like to show off their faces.

And some like to hide their faces.

Will they come up again this Spring?

They will have to work very hard to come through all this snow.

Have a wonderful weekend dear friends,
and stay warm.

Visitors

Welcome and Unwelcome Visitors.

They woke us up at midnight.
All 300 of them were trapped on our property.

This was not the first time.  In the past we received a visit checking on the damage.  Alas, the old farmer has passed on and the Young Ones don't care.

They had walked more than 3 miles.
I know that you have not heard 300 cows mooing at midnight...
So, I won't even ask.

Our Pond must have been a welcome sight.

Only a few days earlier my helpers and I planted 600 tulip bulbs.

and hundreds of new Daffodils.

Now for the good news

Friends stopped by and brought persimmons from their Lemon Grove.

All grown on their beautiful estate in Rancho Santa Fe, California,

along with  oranges and lemons and limes.
Thank you dear Friends.

Nothing ever stays the same.

New doors open, old doors close.

Wishing you a week full of good news and good health.

Welcome Spring

   It must be Spring.

Welcome.

It's about time.

Apple Blossoms are getting ready.

Last of the Snowdrops nodding their heads.

Tulips are about to show their faces.

Pansies follow me everywhere.

The star for now is the Daffodil.

Happy Spring to you my dear Friends.

Very promising

What's Summer without a Beet Salad?
(partial repost August 1, 2014)

Instead of round beets grow cylindrical beets next year.

They cook evenly and slice evenly and taste terrific.

Bake them or boil them, but don't peel them.
(Baking intensifies their flavor)

Also, leave the tops and roots intact,
that way they won't bleed.

When al dente let cool. While still warm twist beets in both directions.  Skin will come off in one piece.

Season with coarse salt, toss in small amount of Balsamic vinegar
Finely chop medium sized onion and add to salad.

Have a lovely weekend my dear friends.
