Another legend passes for Chuck Norris, action icon and "Walker, Texas Ranger" star, dies at age 86. I remember going to the local drive-in in the 1970s to see Circle of Iron and Chuck Norris in Breaker! Breaker!, which was his first lead role. Of course, I became and fan and watching all of his movies that I could. I was super excited when he became Walker, Texas Ranger on tv and I tried to never miss an episode (I still catch a few reruns every once in a while).

Goodnight Val Kilmer

Sad news for Val Kilmer, film star known for ‘Top Gun,’ ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Tombstone,’ dead at 65. He passed away from pneumonia on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. In addition to the previous mention movies, he also starred in Willow, The Doors, The Saint, Tombstone and so many more.

Women Wednesday: Jinny Hex Special #1

Jinnny Hex Special #1 is now on sale and I highly recommend it. Jonah Hex makes a cameo and the issue introduces a new villain by the name of Three-Eyed Jack (you won't believe who he actually is). There is even a surprise guest star at the end. I'm really hoping that she gets a regular series.

Great news for Jonah Hex fans according to ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Finds Jonah Hex in ‘That Thing You Do!’ Star:

He will appear in episode eleven and the series starts this Thursday night on the CW.

Christmas Countdown 2014 Day 3: DC Super Star Holiday Special Part 1

DC Super Star Holiday Special (Spring 1980) is filled with a variety of Christmas-themed stories that covers different genres that DC Comics published at that time from war and westerns to horror and superheroes. Just look at the cool cover:

Women Wednesday: Madame .44

Madame .44 returns to the pages of DC Comics as a backup story titled "The Other Side" in Jonah Hex #30 (June 2014):

Her white scarf reminds me a little of The Shadow's red scarf. Her costume was originally all white but now it's basic black with white accessories. Anyway, she starts the story facing a gauntlet of supernatural demons as she is trying to get to Kerberos before she flashes back to where the nightmare started. I won't go into detail for you really need to find a copy of the comic and read it for yourself.

The original origin had a group of thieves cheating Jeanne Walker's father out of the gold mine. In the New DC 52 version, Henry is pushed by a saloon gal to get them out of the way before they do him in. She was originally a blonde that dyed her hair red but she is a redhead right from the start in this version.

I can't wait to read how the origin of Madame .44 plays out and for her to fight the devils and Kerberos. This looks like one horror western series that I don't want to miss.

Countdown to Halloween 2013 Day 24: Dead or Alive Gets Spooky

Dead or Alive is an online game at Facebook set in the Old West. I have been playing it on and off for a while now (I'm level 126) but only have two friends that are also actively playing it. Today they started their Halloween game and they are playing up the witch theme as you can tell by the cool artwork:

I'm sure that we will be seeing more of Ruth Wilson as Rebecca Reid from the soon to be released The Lone Ranger movie in the future. She is torn between her husband, Dan, and his younger brother, John.

Thrift Store Find: Rita's Wild Ride

My sister actually found a mysterious Burger King toy from 1999 at a local thrift store on Saturday and gave it to me. She had no clue as to what it was but I quickly said that it had to be based on Will Smith's Wild Wild West movie. I did some research online and quickly found out that the toy wagon is Rita's Wild Ride, which is number four in a set of six.

The movie is now out on Blue-ray and you can purchase a copy below (I recommend the movie mostly for Selma Hyek, who plays Rita):

Robert E. Howard's Breckinridge Elkins is a new web comic. The online strip is adapted and illustrated by Gary Chaloner while colored by Cayetano Garza, who is an Ignatz Award-winning cartoonist.

BraveStarr in 3-D #2

I always love finding the 3-D comics published by Blackthorne Publishing, Inc. but I only have a handful of other titles including Jungle Comics and Twisted. BraveStarr in 3-D #2 (April 1988) is based on the cartoon series from Filmation and Group W Productions. I watched several episodes when they originally came out and enjoyed the science fiction western. This issue shows how BraveStarr met 30/30 but no 3-D glasses were included. The 3-D effect was hit and miss with my John Wayne 3-D glasses. The ad for Jungle Comics featuring Sheena really popped out. The back cover has an ad for Red Heat in 3-D series, which was based on the movie featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi.

Thrift Store Finds: Bat Masterson And Constantine

I found two books at a local thrift store this morning that I just could not pass up. The first was Bat Masterson by Wayne C. Lee with illustrations by Adam Szwejkowski that was published by Whitman in 1960. This was an authorized edition based on the television series starring Gene Barry. This is in better shape than the Annie Oakley in Danger at Diablo book that I found a few weeks ago at another thrift store for three dollars. The price of Bat Masterson only set me back a dollar.

The second book was Constantine by John Shirley published by Pocket Books in 2005. This is the novelization of the movie based on the Hellblazer comic book published by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint. I actually enjoyed the movie but maybe it is because I have only read a handful of the comics. Constantine was also a dollar.
