Women Wednesday: Jenny Sparks Ad

DC Comics will be putting out a Jenny Sparks seven issue limited series under their Black Label imprint this month. She is the leader of the Authority, which was part of the WildStorm Universe but has now been absorbed into the DC Universe. Looks like Superman will be making a guest appearance at least in the first issue.

The Boys Season 4 Streaming Now Ad

I can't believe that I haven't made a post about The Boys until now. The first three episodes of season 4 is streaming now on Amazon Prime. I watched them a few days ago and enjoyed all three episodes. I have watched previous seasons and enjoyed them too. Karl Urban as Butcher steals the show for me. The Boys is based on the comic book series that was originally published by WildStorm and then picked up by Dynamite Entertainment. While I highly recommend reading the comic series and watching the tv series, I should warn you that both are definitely for adults only.

Women Wednesday: Introducing Drummer from Outsiders #1

Outsiders #1 from DC Comics hits the newsstands today. On the cover are Luke Fox aka Batwing, Kate Kane aka Batwoman and Drummer. Fans of WildStorm's Planetary will know the name but this is a new character. This is like the twelfth version of the Outsiders not including specials (volume 3 lasted for fifty issues plus an annual from 2003 to 2007). This issue starts a twelve-issue series.

Note: There is also a six page preview of Batman: Off-World #1.

Convergence: Aquaman #1

At first, I thought the art on Convergence: Aquaman #1 (June 2015) was sick looking and not in a good way. Then I read that Arthur had been away from ocean water for a year when the dome came down in Metropolis and the tap water was just not the same. He had destroyed Chemo but he polluted the harbor by doing so. Kind of ironic that Aquaman would destroy his natural habitat like that.

This is the pre-zero hour hook version of Arthur:

Yeah, Deathblow from the Wildstorm universe shows up when the dome comes down and starts shooting agents:

So the next issue will be a showdown between Aquaman and Deathblow.

TFAW Grab Bag #34: Red Herring #6

Philip Bond did the cover art and interior pencils on WildStorm's Red Herring #6 (March 2010). From what I can tell from this issue, the mini-series is about a redheaded con man and conspiracies. Not only was this the last issue of the series but it is also the last of the independent comic grab bag from TFAW.

Red Herring #6 also has a five page sneak peek at Vertigo's Joe The Barbarian.

TFAW Grab Bag #33: Gen13 #33

Rafael Albuquerque and Randy G. Mayor did the cover for WildStorm's Gen13 #33 (February 2010). Believe it or not but this is the only issue of the series that I have ever read. I know the team thanks mostly to articles and previews in Wizard. This is an interesting issue that does provide a score card of sorts to all the characters since members of Gen13 and Gen14 are mixed together.

I am going to break down and get the Superman/Gen13 trade paperback someday.

TFAW Grab Bag #32: Dante's Inferno #2

Diego Latorre did the cover and interior artwork for WildStorm's Dante's Inferno #2 (March 2010). The six issue series was based on the video game from Electronic Arts that is loosely based on the classic poem. I never played the game but I have read the poem. I would like to pick up the rest of this series after reading this issue.

TFAW Grab Bag #31: The Authority #18 and #19

My only exposure to WildStorm's The Authority were in the pages of Wizard so it was nice to have two issues of the latest series as part of the grab bag from TFAW. George Perez did the cover for The Authority #18 (March 2010).
Mark Bagley and Trevor Scott did the cover art for The Authority #19 (April 2010).

Pretty good issues but I needed a score card to keep all the characters straight. All of the characters from the WildStorm universe unite but only a few escape Earth with a bunch of normal people on an alien space craft. Members from StormWatch, WildCats and Gen13 form the new Authority.

Goodbye WildStorm

Wow, this DC ENTERTAINMENT ENDS WILDSTORM, RESTRUCTURES is big news as the imprint ends in December. I have only a handful of WildStorm comics with the majority of them from the 1990s.
