I posted about the Hot Wheels Monster High Ghoul Mobile back in February. That was the common lavender version. Last week, I picked up the black variant version at the local Dollar Tree. I then picked up another lavender version at the local Dollar General because I honestly couldn't remember getting one back in February.

I was shocked when I found the Hot Wheels Monster High Ghoul Mobile at the local Dollar Tree yesterday. The local Walmart's don't even have these yet. I don't normally collect Monster High stuff but I had to get it because it was Hot Wheels. This beats the larger one that can actually fit four of the Monster High dolls (No, I don't have any of those...yet).

Countdown to Halloween 2023 Day 9: The Devil's Machine

I picked up The Devil's Machine (2019) at the local Dollar Tree a few weeks ago in hopes that it would be a scary Halloween treat. The movie's story centers around a three hundred year old curse and a clockwork doll in Scotland. An antique dealer is hired to study the recently found life-size doll and takes his step-daughter along with him. The first half is a slow burn but things turn really weird in the second half. Not only does ghosts show up but strange dog men do too. Also, the story deals with some taboo subjects including incest, bondage and sadism. The ending was interesting but also a little predictable. I did get my money's worth since it was only $1.25 but I have to give The Devil's Machine a solid C since I felt like I was tricked.

Just received news from the Mistress of the Dark that you can now pre-order the Elvira Living Dead Doll. She stands ten inches tall and has five points of articulation. She comes in a window box and has a dagger that she can hold or store in her waist belt. Here is what she looks like:

 

Vending Machine Batman String Doll

Today is a sad day for me since the vending machines at the store that I work at are all gone. They were there yesterday when I left but they were gone when I went in this morning. I already posted about the vending machine Green Lantern string doll that I mistakenly called a puppet. I did manage to snag a Batman string doll out of that same vending machine for seventy-five cents a few weeks ago. I have been meaning to post pictures of it for a while but then my old computer died so here they are finally.

The occult number on his tag is 152875.

Sadly, there is only one store left in town that still has vending machines and that's Dillons grocery store. Looks like I need to check them out with a roll of quarters before they are gone too.

Vending Machine Mini Green Lantern String Puppet

The DC Comics string puppets, er dolls actually arrived at a local store's vending machine a few weeks ago but I finally had three quarters to try my luck this morning. The insert card showed Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and the Joker plus a chance to get three other mini toys that I had no interest in. I held my breath and was relieved when a mini Green Lantern string puppet, er doll came out in his plastic bubble.

He is 2 3/4" tall and 1 3/4" wide. The string colors used to make him are white, green and black. His mask, eyes and power ring are made from thin felt. His chest symbol seems to be really thick felt.

The mini Green Lantern string puppet, er doll has a black string loop on his head with a label attached. One side has copyright DCE (I presume DC Entertainment), s13, and A&A/China. The other side has the occult number of 153938/153939.

According to my research, there are eight mini string puppets, er dolls in the set that includes Superman, Batman, the Joker, Green Lantern, Robin, the Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. I doubt that I will try to get any more of these since I'm once again out of quarters. They seem like they would make perfect cat toys.

My Mego Batman

This is my 1500th post at Moongem Comics and what better way to celebrate it than with a look at my original 8" Mego Batman. His costume, gloves and one boot are long since gone. This is because I actually played with him when I was a kid like I did with all my toys. At least, my Mego Batman is all in one piece unlike my Ken and G.I. Joe dolls...er, action figures.

I remember my mother buying Batman for me and Robin for my little sister. I have no clue whatever happened to him but somehow I got his red vest with the attached yellow cape.

I do wish that I had his costume, gloves and other boot along with the original box that he came in. I also wish that my little sister still had her Robin. At least, we still have good memories of playing together with them as kids.

I take it that the Star Sapphire Barbie will be coming out when the Green Lantern sequel comes out providing that she dons the costume.

Halloween Countdown 2010 Day 12: Barbie Medusa

I do not have any Barbie Dolls but my younger sister does and still enjoys getting one every now and then. I doubt that she will be getting the Barbie Collector Medusa Doll anytime soon because the price tag is $599.95 at Amazon.

Thrift Store Find: Silver Age Green Arrow Figure

I found the Green Arrow figure from the 1999 DC Super Heroes Silver Age Collection at a local thrift store this morning for only $6.50. The box appears never to have been open but there is a little wear and tear on the corners. The features includes a display stand, a bow that actually fires arrows and a cloth costume like the Mego dolls...er, action figures from the 1970s. This is a rare find for me for none of the local stores ever stocked these nine inch figures.

The back of the box has the following text:

Oliver Queen, wealthy world traveler, was on a South Seas cruise when a sudden lurch threw him overboard. Inspired by his Robinson Crusoe-like situation, Oliver began developing his own method for catching food and protecting himself: an array of trick arrows.

Soon, Oliver was catching fish and fowl whis his net arrow, drill arrow, and a number of other types of arrows. He also created a green camouflage suit of leaves. One day, Oliver spotted a freighter anchored off the island. Swimming to the ship's side, Oliver realized that the ship had been overtaken by mutineers. Oliver used his trick arrows to rescue the crew, calling himself the Green Arrow. Upon his arrival back home again, he continued to protect innocent citizens as Green Arrow.

Wonder Woman Barbie 2003

Here is a picture of my sister's Wonder Woman Barbie from 2003 that I found at a local thrift store a few years ago for five dollars (unfortunately, she didn't come with a box or the lunchbox keychain):



The stand that Wonder Woman Barbie came with is not a very good one since it consists of just a short rod sticking out of the round platform. I had to put a few twist ties around her waist to keep her up. The right strap from her uniform is sticking up.
