Pendraken Painting Competition 2016

Ando un poco atrasado con las publicaciones... En febrero tuvo lugar el concurso de pintura de Pendraken, y me presenté a la categoría de Fantasía (unidad de garrapatos) y Base Individual (conversión de lanzavirotes).

I´m being late with the posts... In february took place this year's Pendraken Painting Competition and I participated in two categories: Fantasy (squigg unit) and Individual base (bolt thrower conversion).

Finalmente conseguí el primer premio con los garrapatos!

Os animo a que paséis por el foro de Pendraken para admirar los geniales trabajos que se han presentado.

Orc Skull-Krusha [WH15mm]

Lanzapiedroz orco. Es un modelo de Pendraken, aunque he usado orcos de Demonworld para la dotación (expecto el de la izquierda, que es de Pendraken).

Orc Skull-Krusha. This is a Pendraken model, thoughthough I've used Demonworld orcs for the crew (except the one on the left, that is a Pendraken model).

Dwarf Bolt-thrower [WH15mm]

Primera pieza de artillería enana: un lanzavirotes.

El lanzavirotes está hecho con una base de catapulta y un lanzavirotes de Pendraken.

The bolt-thrower was made using the chasis of a stone-thrower and a bolt-thrower, both from Pendraken.

Conversions [WH15mm]

Os dejó algunas fotos de trabajos en marcha. El primero es para poder hacer que el general orco, además de su montura original de serpiente alada (Demonworld) pueda ir también montado en jabalí (Splintered Light Miniatures).

Here you have pics of some WIP. The first one is a little conversion to be able to use the Orc commander with his original wyvern mount (Demonworld) but also mounted on a boar (Splintered Light Miniatures).

Y la segunda es un lanzavirotes enano, que está hecho un un lanzavirotes de Pendraken sobre la base de una catapulta, también de Pendraken. Detrás se ve la catapulta de Demonworld.

And the second is a dwarf bolt thrower, that was made using a Pendraken´s bolt thrower over the base of a stone thrower base, also a Pendraken model. Behind can be seen the Demonworld stone thrower.

Night Goblins [WH15mm]

Esta unidad de 24 goblins nocturnos está hecha a partir de Night Orcs de Pendraken. Aunque en Warhammer 3ª Edición no aparecen los goblins nocturnos, siempre han sido mis goblinoides favoritos así que...

This 24 night goblin unit is made of converted Pendraken´s Night Orcs. Although in Warhammer 3rd Edition there is no mention of Night Goblins, they have always been my favourite type of goblinoids so...

Fotos de las figuras (perdón por la calidad, son fotos de móvil). Hacer tanta conversión es duro... pero ahora puedo decir que tengo una unidad de 24 goblins y que todos son distintos!

Pics of the figures (sorry for the quality, I´ve used my phone to do them). Making so many conversions is a hard work... But now I can say I have a unit of 24 goblins and all of them are different!

Squig herders [WH15mm]

En esta ocasión las figuras son de Pendraken, con alguna conversión (especialmente en los goblins).

Night goblins conversion

Siento la falta de entradas, pero está siendo un mes muy poco productivo y sin tiempo para dedicarle al ocio...

Esta es una foto de las conversiones que hice pare el concurso de pintura de Pendraken. Usando sus Night Orcs como base, al principio sólo pensaba añadirles la nariz y agrandar un poco la capucha... pero acabé haciendo también armas, escudos y un estandarte.

This is a picture of the conversions I did for Pendraken´s painting competition. Using his Night Orcs as basis, at first I only thought about add the nose and enlarge the hood... but I ended up making also weapons, shields and a banner.

 Las figuras son en realidad un poco grandes para ser goblins nocturnos de 15mm, pero como voy a usarlos junto con figuras de Demonworld (Ral Partha), que son en realidad 18mm, no se nota tanto. En la foto podéis ver la comparación con dos humanos de Ral Partha y un ogro de 15mm.co.uk (que es muy grande, incluso comparado con Ral Partha).

The figures are actually a little big to be  night goblins, but as I will use them with figures Demonworld (Ral Partha), which are actually 18mm, it is barely noticeable. In the picture you can see the comparison with two Ral Partha human figures and a 15mm.co.uk ogre (wich is very big, even compared with Ral Partha).

 Quería incluir, por motivos obvios, un garrapato en la unidad. Creía que tenía alguno de Pendraken, pero me equivoqué y no me daba tiempo a hacer un pedido, así que intenté hacer uno yo mismo. Un amigo me propuso usar un garbanzo como base, y como me hizo gracia la idea acepté el reto.

I wanted to include in the unit, for obvious reasons, a squigg. I thought I had one of Pendraken´s ones, but I was wrong and I didn't had time to place an order, so I tried to make one myself. A friend suggested me to use a chickpea as base and, as the idea amused me, I accepted the challenge.

No fui capaz de hacer unas patas decentes, pero como pequeño experimento creo que ha quedado bastante gracioso.

I was not able to do some decent legs, but I think that it is quite funny (as a little experiment).

Estoy tan contento con el resultado final de los goblins que estoy barajando la idea de hacer un ejército...

Pendraken Painting Competition!

Está terminado el mes de febrero, mes en el que se celebra el concurso de pintura de la marca Pendraken (10mm). Este año sólo he podido presentar un trabajo... Os dejo las fotos.

February it´s almost finished, and it is the month in which Pendraken (10mm) painting competition is celebrated. This year I have been able to present just  one work... Here you have the photos.

Cuando saque un poco de tiempo os daré más información y publicaré más imágenes. Son Night Orcs (10mm) que he convertido como Goblins Nocturnos (15mm) que usaré para las partidas de Mordheim en 15mm.

Once I have some little time I will give you more information and will post more pictures. They are Orcs Night (10mm) I've convert into Night Goblins (15mm) that I will use for myMordheim games in 15mm.

Seleucid Cataphracts

Una nueva unidad para el ejército seléucida: la temible caballería catafracta de Antíoco.

A new unit for the Seleucid army: the dreaded cataphract cavalry of Antiochus.

Cada figura consta de dos partes: el caballo (dos modelos diferentes) y el torso del jinete (tres modelos diferentes). La cantidad de posibles combinaciones es enorme, ya que el torso se puede orientar.

Each figure consists of two parts: the horse (two different models) and the torso of the rider (three different models). The number of possible combinations is enormous, because the torso can also be oriented.

Tengo miniaturas suficientes para pintar una segunda unidad, que cubrirá el otro flanco.

 I have enough miniatures to paint a second unit, which will cover the other flank.

Si tengo que buscar algún fallo en las miniaturas será el tamaño. Al igual que con los dromedarios, los catafractos son más grandes que otras referencias de Pendraken. Aquí podéis ver una foto comparándolos con los romanos.

If I have to find some problem with these miniatures it would be the size. As with dromedaries, the cataphracts are larger than other Pendraken references. Here you can see a photo comparison with the roman cavalry.

And the winners are...

Anoche se publicaron los ganadores del concurso de pintura de Pendraken de este año (pinchad aquí para verlo). El nivel este año ha sido altísimo, así que si entráis en el foro de Pendraken podréis disfrutar de auténticas maravillas de los 10mm. 

En mi opinión, debido a la calidad de sus trabajos y al número de premios obtenidos, requieren una mención especial Matt Munslow, Kev1964 and BH62. ¡Mi más sincera enhorabuena!

Por mi parte, no he sido capaz de repetir el éxito del año pasado y "tan sólo" he podido colarme en un segundo puesto con mis Hombres del Este. Aún queda la votación popular, y parece que mi ejército romano tiene algunas opciones... crucemos dedos!

Lo dicho, ¡Entrad en el foro de Pendraken para disfrutar con los ganadores de este año!

Last night were published the winners of this year´s Pendraken painting competition (just click here to view). The standard this year has been very high, so if you enter Pendraken Forum you will enjoy authentic 10mm wonders.

In my opinion, due to the quality of their work and the number of awards, special mention is required for Matt Munslow, Kev1964 and BH62. My sincere congratulations!

For my part, I have not been able to repeat the success of last year and I have "only" been able to sneak into second place with my Easterlings. There is still the popular vote, and it seems that my Roman army has some options ... let's cross fingers!

As said, come to Pendraken forum and enjoy with this year's winners!

Roman army - Phase one DONE!

Por fin la primera parte de mi ejército romano está terminada!

• 2x unidades de velites
• 2x unidades de hastati
• 2x unidades de principes
• 1x unidad de triarii
• 1x unidad de caballería romana
• 1x unidad arqueros cretenses
• 1x unidad de elefantes

Para la siguiente fase, tengo que duplicar los legionarios y caballería, y añadir los aliados de Pérgamo, aunque antes quiero completar la primera parte de los seléucidas.

Pero de momento, a disfrutarlos!

At last, the first part of my Roman army is finished!

• 2x velite units
• 2x hastati units
• 2x principes units
• 1x unit triarii
• 1x roman cavalry unit
• 1x Cretan archers unit
• 1x elephants unit

For the next phase, I have to duplicate the legionaries and cavalry, and add Pergame allies, but first I want to complete the first part of the Seleucids.

But for the moment, just enjoy them!
