The Florida Guitar Army meets the Long Island Airhorn Army. Actually, the airhorns aren't that bad. I can't imagine sitting in front of the guy with the airhorn, though. It must have been excruciating.

I limited a very loud snare shot at the beginning of track 1, and added some high end w/ the BBE Sonic Maximizer. The left channel was louder than the right one; I balanced them (a 1dB adjustment) and used the L3 Ultramaximizer to increase headroom. No other processing, other than dithering back to 16 bits.

The recording fades out after Hope You Don't Mind, and begins abruptly with Stick Around for Rock 'n Roll. It's probably just a cassette tape flip.

Very nice quality.

This is first broadcast radio performance the Outlaws did live from The Record Plant promoting the release of their self-titled debut album. Some great songs here.
Some sources list this show as April 1975. This may be a rebroadcast date. Other information suggests this show may actually be originally performed and broadcast on March 11, 1975, which is the date I have used here.

The levels in tracks 1 through 8 were uneven: too low at the begining of the show, then relatively higher until the band introductions at the end of track 8.  I used Wavelab to lower the leves and even things out, and also to mute a loud section at 1:33 on track two where the left channel was raised significantly for a second or so.  I then used the Waves L1-Ultramaximizer to restore the volume and increase headroom.

There is some annoying mic buzz during times when lead singer's mic is on, but it's only audible when there's no other music.

The commercials at the begining of track 1 are amusing.  The advertising of blank audio tape prior to a live concert broadcast speaks volumes about the recording and copying of live music in 1979.  As for why they opened the show with the Star Wars theme, it beats me.  The show was broadcast on WLIR on Long Island and WILQ in Philadelphia.

Formed in 1972, the Outlaws were signed to Clive Davis' new label, Arista Records, at the height of the southern rock movement. When their blend of driving guitars, cowboy twang, and Eagles-esque harmonies came together, the public bought in. The group had a Top 40 hit right out of the box with "There Goes Another Loves Song," from their 1975 self-titled debut album.
From that record also came an FM radio classic hit. The lengthy guitar-opus "Green Grass And High Tides," was, and remains today, the band's signature song. The Outlaws, had released their second album in May of 1976. Titled "Lady in Waiting".
