This is a terrific soundboard recording of Arthur Lee with Love on the Manchester Academy. This was originally brought to DIME as an intent to circulate what was claimed to be an uncirculated recording, but it didn't worked very well, so i'm sharing this particular version. The original lineage "Soundboard -> DAT -> Audition -> Flac" is the original source, however mine was requested and brought by another private trader, who i don't know if he would like to be referred here, but you know who you are! Thanks for this recording TFM, and of course, thanks for helping the folks here on DIME. My source was in format AIFF, which is a lossless format for Apple Users. To learn more about this format, you can follow the link here: [url]http://www.abyssmedia.com/formats/aiff-format.shtml[/url] I just used a tool and converted the AIFF to flac, fixed SBE's and renamed the files, as these were tagged just as "Audiotrack" The recording is split into two separated folders in case you are thinking in burn on disc. Each folder will include their proper md5 and ffp files. Circulate this recording, feel free to post elsewhere! Of course, again, all thanks goes to TFM for trust in me with this great recording. This was a TV special that was broadcast on Danish TV on July 17, 1970.

The live songs were recorded at Tivolis Koncertsal, Copenhagen, Denmark on March 12, 1970.

Pro-shot DVD received in a trade. Digital conversion probably made by an American collector, hence the NTSC format!

The month of March 1970 must have been wild for Arthur Lee and Love! At sometime during the month of March, they jammed in the studio with Jimi. These sessions apparently were put onto an acetate, which AL brought into a radio station at a later date. The acetate was played over the air,and the radio transmission was recorded with amateur equipment, which accounts for the sound quality. It's possible that is Arthur Lee's voiceover fragment at the very beginning of Midnight Sun. There are eight tracks in all.

The material is quite interesting, and lives up to the hype about it. If it were possible to say so, I'd call it a mind-meld between the two artists. The only beef I have about it at all is that there wasn't more of it to give you.

Also in March, Love was on tour in Europe. The next eight tracks are from the Falconer Theatre in Copenhagen, from May 12.

The final five tracks are from Tivoli Gardens, also in Copenhagen, from an unspecified date in March. The difference in performance from the Falconer show is startling. They sound burnt and raving.

Altogether it's somewhat bewildering to me, IMHO. Jim Morrison was quoted early on as saying that the Doors hoped their sound would be as big (popular) as Love. Arthur Lee still sounds great in concert, but Love has only a pocket audience now. Jim is dead (so they say), and the Doors still have worldwide attention.

No, none of these are audience recordings.
