I Got this from a guy in Brazil, who said it was the complete version of the TV recording that he had got from the station. Not 100% convinced that's the case as its not as good as you would expect. But then neither was the 30m segment taken from the TV broadcast.

This was a fantastic concert. The crowd was ecstatic, fans kept cheering their hero and singing along to the words. The only downside were the sound problems experienced during certain songs. No one made it on stage because of strict security. As on the previous date in Mexico, Morrissey must have felt really welcome. He was still very talkative and often thanked his fans in Spanish.

After entering stage at the end of the James Bond theme, Morrissey greeted the audience with "All my Chilean children!". After the first song he added "Welcome to Santiago's biggest toilet... drinking and smoking tonight are essential...". The latter negative comment must have been about the rundown condition of the venue, but sensing that he might be misinterpreted, he continued "... no jokes... no more jokes for me...". Before "Ouija Board, Ouija Board", he said "I would like to say another hello to you after all these years... and I would like to say hello to Julia, after all these days... Julia's here, I'm here, you're here, we're all here... so... Boz... Boz is here". After the song, the loud "Morrissey! Morrissey!" chant started by the fans was echoed by Morrissey with his own "Chile! Chile!". He then enquired "I don't smoke, but does anybody have a cigarette? Oh?... good because I don't smoke...". In "Now My Heart Is Full" he changed lines to "...just some rain coated lover's hermanos" and "...every Santiago poet".

After "The Boy Racer", Morrissey said "I'm glad you know these songs because I thought some of you might think it's Simply Red... it's not Simply Red... you don't like Simply Red...". Strangely, after "Is It Really So Strange?", he said "No Mexico? No!...". In "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get" Morrissey strained his voice more and more as the song went on. This might have been due to sound difficulties, or perhaps frustration, given the tone of the lyrical changes "I bear more grudges than stupid british judges" or "I will creep into your bed like a sick song that you can't stand, take the easy way and give in to me".

Before "I Am Hated For Loving", Morrissey asked "Yes? What do you need to say? Speak to me please!". The performance of "Speeway" was very unusual. Before the song Morrissey said "you need some water" then imitated his fans in a high-pitched voice, screaming "Oh my god! Oh my god!". Then he counted the intro in a mock-orgasm manner! At one point into the song he laughed (in a forced 'I mean it!' way) instead of singing some words.

"This song is about blood culture, blood culture, the culture of blood, flesh, flesh, flesh, blood culture, oooh!" was the intro to "Meat Is Murder". The song was ended with a single drum pounding like a dying hearbeat and, unlike other dates, wasn't followed by a moral. "November Spawned A Monster" which came next suffered from significant sound problems. During its performance Morrissey looked at both Boz and Alain, trying to figure out the problem, then apologised to the fans.

In "Billy Budd" Morrissey had difficulties singing the first lines. The crowd might have been too hectic, although further in the song he changed some words to "I took my job application into town, do you want to go home to bed?" hinting that the fans looked bored. But it wasn't the case, the song was rapturously received like all the others. After it Morrissey said something undecipherable then "What does that mean, I don't know...". He returned to the subject after "Half A Person": "Do you want to go home? (crowd: "NO!") Well you might have to... ("NO!") YES! ("NO!") SI!".

In "Break Up The Family", Morrissey was becoming more and more playful, taking liberties with some words and their intonations (echoing "friends, friends..."), changing lines like "I want to sleep with my friends tonight!", all this on top of all the other usual changes. After the song he joined his fans into the "Morrissey!" chant, all the way into the first bars of "Tomorrow" which set the rhythm of the chant. The latter song was retitled "Mañana" in Chile as it had been in Mexico and Southern California before.

Before "Shoplifters Of The World Unite", Morrissey enquired "Do you know how much this costs? Very expensive!". He returned for the encore dressed in his sailor suit. At the end of that final song, he greeted his fans by singing over and over "I love you... God bless you!... I love you!... God bless you!".

This concert is the best souvenir of the Latin American leg of the Oye Esteban tour, perhaps of the whole tour. Morrissey was as much or even more playful than he had been on previous dates, the crowd was very appreciative and vocal and the concert is available in rather good quality from a radio broadcast. The recording's quality gives the listeners the impression that they are in the venue with the Chilean fans.

The broadcast mentioned above, despite lacking "November Spawned A Monster" which suffered from serious sound problems, is the most commonly available version of this concert on audio bootlegs. However, a rarer pre-FM soundboard version can also be found. This also excludes "November Spawned A Monster" but it is free of any DJ
intervention.

Taper's notes: This is a great venue - a very old theater that has been nicely renovated. Acoustics were decent. The audience in GA was

awesome - high energy but polite and not chatty. Meat Is Murder was accompanied by a gruesome film featuring a behind the scenes look
at slaughterhouses. Not for the squeamish. I think he changed shirts 3 times, with the second shirt being thrown out into the pit to a very eager
audience. How Soon Is Now? featured various audience members coming up for hugs from Moz.

Notes from PassionsJustLikeMine.com
This first solo Morrissey show was also meant as a farewell Smiths concert. The musicians backing Morrissey were ex-Smiths Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke, as well as once Smiths #5 Craig Gannon filling in as guitarist. The setlist was a mix of Morrissey tracks with Smiths tracks from 1987, so nothing that had been  performed in front of a live audience before. The Smiths song were actually  never played live since either. Admission was free to anyone wearing a Morrissey shirt, but most people turned up with Smiths shirts and were still admitted. Only half of fans who traveled to Wolverhampton made it inside the venue. Outside the queuing and organisation almost turned to chaos. The atmosphere inside was obviously very charged. There was a great deal of cheering and chanting Morrissey's name to the English football tune. Throughout the short set, many fans made it on stage, much more than for a typical Smiths concert.

Morrissey came on stage to a thunder of applause, after a long period of cheering and chanting. In the first song, "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before", he sang "And so I drank one, or was it four?" instead of "... it became four". He actually sang that line as it had been originally written and not as it appeared on "Strangeways Here We Come". Before "Interesting Drug" which was yet unreleased and unknown to the fans, Morrissey started "This song is called..." but never finished his line. In that song as in the previous one, "Disappointed", Morrissey missed many lines because of the mayhem with the fans keeping him away from his microphone.

Just before "Suedehead", Mike Joyce teased the fans with a few notes of the drum intro to "The Queen Is Dead", but that song was not to be played. Morrissey changed a line in "Suedehead" to "Oh so many blank pages" instead of "oh som many illustrations". He also sang "I'm so very saddened, oh, I am so sickened NOW". Before "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys" Morrissey started "I'd like to say hello..." but didn't finish his line and simply introduced the next song.

Before "Death At One's Elbow" Morrissey managed to say what he had originally meant to: "I'd like to say hello to Julian and hello to Mouse.... your mother's letter arrived today, she has a good hand...". In that song Morrissey changed a line from "you'll slip on the trail of my bespattered remains" to "you'll slip on the trail of all of my entrails". After that number and its final lines "Goodbye my love, goodbye my love", Morrissey just said "goodbye" and everyone left the stage. They were called back with much insistence and performed one more song, a very rocking "Sweet And Tender Hooligan".

Why H.264 + AAC? Because MPEG-4 is an industry standard now. XviD + MP3 is on its way out. Change is inevitable. And besides, H.264 and AAC provide much better fidelity than
XviD + MP3 at the same or lower bit rates.

Notes:
Courtesy of the Stonecutter Archives is this opening set by Morrissey, on David Bowie's Outside tour. It's not the full set, just what had been recorded to be aired by the BBC, but here it appears to be sourced from a German broadcast. This one is not particularly rare as it circulates from the BBC Radio 1 broadcast readily, and was booted on the CD "Practising Troublemaker" which filled in the missing tracks from an audience recording. These seven tracks also found their way to the "Shoplifters from London" boot CD. Someone later took audience video of the set and patched in the "Practising Troublemaker" audio to it. This took place on the third of four nights at Wembley where Morrissey opened for Bowie. Always awkward to be the opener this far along in one's career, and even though there would've been enough overlap in the two fanbases for audiences to have been at least somewhat receptive to Moz, he only lasted for six more dates beyond this one before dropping out.
