Tonka - 6th folder 6th picture
Here it is - - the 6th picture in the 6th folder. It is a picture of another cousin of ours. He lives in Spokane and is really handsome. His name is Tonka. He was also rescued like us. He lives with one of Mom & Dads sons' families. He is a great pup. But for some reason he & I (Ernie) have our moments. Then again we run and play until we drop. Haven't seen him in awhile though.

Back From The Cabin
Sasha & I resting - it had been a long day. We were at Black Beach Resort & RV Park on Curlew Lake outside of Republic, Washington. As you can see Sasha was the one resting. I was on watch and guarding the place from any intruders. There were LOTS of geese wanting to come here but when they saw me - they stayed away. Smart huh?! We couldn't go inside the fancy trailer our humans friends had. That was OK. It was nicer being outside watching everything.
This is the most interesting pile of dead wood etc to explore. Sasha & I spent a lot of time here during our time at the cabin. Mom will use some of those pictures in the next post. This was taken before we went to Curlew Lake.
This picture was at Bonaparte Lake Resort. Mom & Dad said there were LOTS of these swallows flying around. They are very fast flyers. We didn't get to go to Bonaparte Resort when they went there to meet friends for breakfast.
The front of the Restaurant/general store at Bonaparte Lake Resort. All kinds of stuff on the front. Everything from wagon wheels to OLD pigs heads/skulls, old license plates, washtubs, etc.
These spinners were sure pretty in the sun and breeze.
Very rustic and peaceful there. They rent boats and lots of people fish there.
Bonaparte Lake
Mama duck and her many babies. They were so busy eating they didn't mind Mom sneaking up on them to take their picture.
Another view of Bonaparte Lake.
After Bonaparte Lake the friends came to our cabin and later we all went to Curlew Lake and the resort. This is the picture of a bald eagle soaring and hunting. This was as close as Mom could bring him in with her camera.
Curlew Lake. We sure would have liked to go in the water but near the shore was lots of mushy stuff and lots of grass & weeds in the water. People were fishing and it was probably better we stayed away from their lines.

Friends - Bart Simpson??, Murphy, & Leland
Who is this? Bart Simpson and his friend?? Looks like Bart likes feet. Do you think he likes painted toes?
Wait!!! There are 2 Bart Simpson's. What a fluffy head - - -
We went to visit our Uncle Rich and Aunt Deb and their boy Murphy last weekend. Murphy stayed with us awhile back while they raced. Rich & Deb fixed us some great food while we were all there. YUMMY!!
Sasha & Murphy playing with his BIG softy bone.
Murphy loves Sasha. He snuggles with her and we caught him cleaning her ears again. Don't think they were dirty. BUT he does have a thing for her ears..
Murphy waiting to take his bone back. They kept taking turns with it and some of his other toys.
This picture shows Sasha waiting for him to finish so she could have another turn at the bone. They are very good at sharing with each other and trying to outfox each other also.
Well, Sasha took a break so - - I finally got a chance to play with Murphy. That was a big soft fish we were playing with. We might have played a bit too rough, because the poor fish lost most of his insides and they had to bury him. They put him in what I think you would call the trash can. Poor little fish. We missed him for awhile.
Me and Sasha waiting patiently for Murphy to finish playing with that toy. Don't know how much longer we can wait. He was taking his time with this one.
This is a picture of a special friend. His name is Leland and he is a Seeing Eye Guide Dog for a dear friend of Mom & Dad's. The cute little girl is the Grand little person of his humans.
Visiting outside of the restaurant where they ate. Never can get enough of visiting with friends. Leland is very good. He stays under the table and one hardly even knows he is there.
All that people talk is boring. Leland decided to check out the potted plants. He is very well mannered. He didn't even try to pee on them.
Mom likes this picture. It is probably the best picture she took of Leland. He is very handsome.
It is almost as if he posed for it. We don't think he is as used to having his picture taken as Sasha & I are.
We wish every pup and human a bunch of fun and happiness over the next few days. We will be away and not able to blog. But we are sure we will make up for it when we get back. We will be having fun at the cabin and stuff. M & D will have to do some work there. At least that is what they tell us.

Patience ?? & Softoy Surgery
The other day we went for a long walk around the neighborhood. We had a good time and saw some of our other friends. Some people pet us. It was fun but there seems to usually be someone who asks "what is that"? They are talking about me, Ernie. They say I look like a Portugese Water Dog. Mom tells them no, and that I am a Schnoodle. They don't always believe her.
In the picture below we are trying to be patient. I, Ernie am the most patient. Sasha couldn't take it a couple of times and jumped in Mom's lap. She had to be reminded to be patient. I am so GOOD.
When we got home Mom took time out to fix some of our softoys that had gotten a bit worn. Stuffing was hanging out and one of Bambi's legs was hanging by a thread. Sasha's big bear had his leg almost off. M told us we would have to wait until she got done with surgery on them.
Once M got done with the surgeries, we took our "babies" and laid down for a nap. Here I am with my blue Dino and Bambi. Going for long walks and then having to be PATIENT was hard on us. We were tired.
Here is a hint from Mom. Actually maybe you already know about this but - - -
Mom goes to Goodwill or St Vincent DePaul and looks for soft babies for us. She has found some great ones that are really inexpensive (let's call it cheap). They are super soft, actual baby toys and don't have any of the ornaments like eyes and stuff sewn on. Another good thing is they don't have squeakers. I am good with those but Sasha goes nutso. She works until she gets them out. That only takes a minute or so. We only get squeakers in tough and VERY durable toys that are made out of rubber and stuff. Toys are fun.
Have a great day.

GRANDVIEW DOG PARK
We went to a new dog park. We enjoyed the sniffs meeting new friends. It is not tooooo far from where we live. BUT one thing we really like is missing. NO place to swim. We really missed that. The day was quite warm.
There was lots of room to roam, other pups to visit, and lots of sniffs.
This part was very interesting. Sasha and I liked it. See how I stick by my woman.
The people are Sammy's Mom & Dad. That is Sammy hanging on to an OLD tennis ball he found. He has quite a grip. The little girl was sure cute. She was there with her sister and their puppy. The puppy is 5 months old and her name is Coco. Mom didn't get a really good picture of either one. But they were both cute. Sister was on her cell phone some of the time. She stayed out of the way of the camera.
Me and Sasha in front of the pack. Then Coco and would you believe the black dog is another lab named --- Sasha. Can you believe it. She is really fun and quickly the 4 of us became friends and started our own play group.
It was warm and most of the people hung out at this shelter to get some shade. Not only did this park not have a swimming hole, but it didn't used to have water to drink. Good thing ----it now has at least 2 fountains for people AND pups like us.
It was fun. We still prefer Marymoor and West Crest as dog parks. Marymoor seems bigger and has lots of WATER for swimming and cooling off. West Crest doesn't have swimming holes but it has shade and other fun things.
Toodles have a great day!!!

A SUNNY DAY AT THE BEACH
Mom finally posted the Kreativ Blogger award we received. But she didn't do a very good job. Not one of her best efforts. She started it on May 8 and finished it today. We have been on some trips so to be fair she didn't have a lot of time to work on forwarding it. However, - - - it showed up on our blog under May 8. She tried to change dates but didn't manage to get it done. She thanks you for your patience. She will improve.
Now the fun stuff for today !!!
This is a picture of the hillside where we had to follow a trail to the beach. It is nice because it has a lot of twists and turns (Mom calls them switchbacks). We get to do a lot of sniffing.
The tide was out a long way. This old driftwood tree is always here and must be deep in the sand because it never has moved. We sure enjoyed sniffing it.
That's me in the front of the picture, Sammy carrying his stick toy, a black lab named Maggie, and Sasha using her search technique looking for smells under the water. Mom has said maybe we should have trained her on underwater search since she likes it so much.
With the tide out we can go a long way before having to swim.
Mom finally threw one far enough so I could go out into the deeper water and swim to fetch it.
Sammy sure does swim well for a little Jack Russell. He decided to take a short rest from all the swimming to get in a bit of chewing.
It was a warm day and we met lots of friends and new friends at the beach. Going from front of picture to the back --- Me (Ernie), Chloe a yellow lab, Molly a beautiful German Shorthair Pointer and Sasha.
We can't stay away from this dead tree. When we got tired of swimming we would take a break and check it out to see if anything had changed.
Molly running with her ears flopping. Mom gave her a bit of a massage when she cuddled into her. Shouldn't have done that. We thought she was going to go home with us. We wouldn't have minded but her human would have.
This handsome and regal looking fellow is named Nelson. He is a very large Rhodesian Ridgeback. Mom talked to his humans and they actually got him in South Africa. They said he didn't like to swim and would not probably go out any further than he was in this picture. But if there was a lion he would definitely get involved. However, he really watched all of us playing in the water. Such concentration he had. He was much bigger than other Ridgebacks Mom has seen around here.
Finally when his humans started walking away he went out into the water until it was past his belly and picked up a stick. We think he was just getting into the fun of it all. By the way, he also enjoys a massage. He backed up to Mom and she gave him a bit of one. He stayed there for awhile. Massages are good!
The info below is taken from Wikipedia on Google.
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a dog breed indigenous to Southern Africa. Its European forebears can be traced to the early pioneers of the Cape Colony of southern Africa, who crossed their dogs with the semi-domesticated, ridged hunting dogs of the Khoisan people (referred to by the colonists as "Hottentots").
In the earlier parts of its history, the Rhodesian Ridgeback has also been known as Van Rooyen's Lion Dogs, the African Lion Hound or African Lion Dog—Simba Inja in Ndebele, Shumba Imbwa in Shona—because of their ability to distract a lion while awaiting their master to make the kill.
The original breed standard was drafted by F.R. Barnes, in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (today known as Zimbabwe), in 1922. Based on that of the Dalmatian, the standard was approved by the South African Kennel Union in 1926.
The water was cool and really felt wonderful because the sun was warm. We stayed a long time and it was fun. We took our time going back up the trail and made sure we took our time and got in even more sniffs.
Have a great day and enjoy!!

JUST FOR FUN
The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door.
Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. However, dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm. For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required. The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.
Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:
TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:
1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals.. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.
Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't hang out with drug-using people;
(7) don't smoke or drink,
(8) don't want to wear your clothes,
(9) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(10) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(11) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ...
Finally!!! Mom & Dad are back
Mom & Dad were gone for a few days. We stayed with Grandma. She took good care of us. We didn't get much exercise but our friends down the street did come and take us for a nice LONG walk. Sasha was tired after it.
I was tired too but I remembered my softtoy. They brought us home new ones but Mom hasn't taken any pictures of us with them yet. We think she may be slacking on taking pictures of us.
This is a picture she took of our cousin Max in Oregon. He is a boxer/dalmation. She tells us he is a great dog. But we thought we were the great ones. Well . . . I guess we can live with it.
He is bigger than Sasha and really loves his family. I Ernie have never seen him but Sasha went there before.
Well, we missed alll of you. Hope Mom gets things going again soon. We are working on making her feel guilty enough so she will do things like taking us swimming, to the dog park etc. We were so HAPPY to see them finally come home we were beside ourselves. Too bad she didn't get pictures of that!!
