In the country

Hi furiends, We're finally back again. Missed all you pups & kitties. My assistant was keeping very busy doing stuff BUT she did find time to take us for walks. We had to be on long leashes when we were outside the cabin. Still bears around and the little Chi's (Mexicans) are not to be trusted off leash like me. The sun was very bright & hot. M says some of the pics she took don't show how vivid the colors were.
This building is VERRRRY old.
These building are VERRY VERRY old. An old homestead.
Not bears - just cows grazing (There were a lot of them but only 2 made it into the picture)
Roo taking a break and sitting in D's lap. We have a BIG water dish outside. Roo wouldn't have anything to do with it.
John on watch. Chipmunks, cows, bugs, frogs .........Some of the cows were very loud. The bull was making some very loud & scary noises.
Chica had my back while I was on watching duty. She looks bigger than me....Wonder how she did that???
Here is our BIG water dish. It was so HOT we did get into it to drink & cool our feets. All except Roo of course. She didn't want anything to do with it.
The sprinkler helped keep it cool. M thought it looked like fog. I thought they spent a lot of time sitting near it. Sometimes they would jump, shiver, & say it felt good. Strange........
Kinda boring. We couldn't spend much time outside except in the morning & evening. When we were outside trying to have fun, it was only for a little while. Our tongues were hangin out & we were glad to get into the shade. Notice that handsome harness I have on in this picture. Wellll... somehow it got chewed through in a couple of places. I'm not talking.....
John & Chica took lots of naps. M & D think it is cute the way those 3 little ones play & cuddle.
I say, "Hey, I am cute & handsome!!!!!"
This fat little frog sat on our deck most of the morning. M thought it was pregnant it was so fat in the middle. Maybe it ate too much???!
We are glad to be back cuz we missed everybuddy, & we can come in & go outside whenever we want cuz the yard is fenced. MORE Fun than being on leashes. WE did get in lots of good sniffs on our walks though. Thanks for continuing to vote for PUP. We are still in 5th place in WA. Only about a month to go but things are slow - maybe because of summer, people on vacation, & just gettin' tired of voting. Anyhow, a big thanks to all of you who are voting for us. Roo's Back

Bummer of a day... but also Good news Roo is back & happy to be back. The bummer part is the people who adopted Roo & Dusty had some financial problems come up. The bad part is they didn't call us (PUP) the rescue group & explain. They just took Roo & Dusty back to where the adoption event was held & put them in the outside enclosed pen/dog park. The manager of the place where the event was held came across them & called PUP to let us know. Roo is home with us & seems very happy to be here. John, Ernie,Sasha, & Chica all seemed very HAPPY to see her. Dusty is back with his fosters. It looks like there may be a meeting with a family for John tonight. Will know more later. We will be gone for a few days again & we will miss you. We will be back though.. don't forget us. Have a good week!! Ernie,Sasha,Chica's Mom

Home again & Roo Has New Home

He furiends, It's been awhile & we've missed you. M says this summer may be hit & miss for blogs becuz we will probably be going to the cabin a lot. GOOD NEWS for ROO!!! There was an adoption event Saturday. Roo & Dusty were adopted together & M says the Mom & her son were "tickled" with them. Who was doing the tickling??? Anyhoo, when Roo & Dusty were saved from a high kill shelter in CA, they both had mange & NO hair. They spent 4 months together while being treated. When they were better & their hair started growing back, Roo came to stay with us & Dusty went to a different foster. The Mom looked on Petfinder & saw Roo & felt a connection with her right away, then she saw Dusty. She knew she wanted them both. AMAZING!!! Roo & Dusty were friends & the Mom didn't know that. When Roo & Dusty came together again at the meet & greet, It was like a reunion. They are back together again & in their forever home!! It was meant to be as M says. Chica, John & Roo. John & Roo look like devil dogs - look at those eyes. Chica was busy cleaning John's ears.
Lupines by the fence. M sure likes flowers & such. She says the sun was kinda bright so the colors were washed out. Did they get a bath???
What's this another pic of the lupines? Think I will have to have a woof with her about all the pics of stuff other than us. On the other paw, it gives us a break from the flashy thing she carries around.
The grass stuff was up to M's armpits. M spent a lot of the time at the cabin mowing (no riding mower for her). Think she would like one. Got a lot of it cut down to help minimize fire danger.
John doing his playbow. Wonder what he is bowing to????
Another pic!!! This time wild roses.
Here is another washed out pic of lupines & pretty yellow flowers & the tracks the Rhino left when we drove thru the back property.
Bailey & I must have been on the same page.... I also was incognito just like him. (Bailey is one of the 4 B's) Thought maybe nobody would notice me. A break from the 3 Mexicans. (Don't tell anyone but I do like them)
We had fun but this trip was mostly about something called a septic. It's all hooman talk to me but big monsters like this were making lots of noise & pushing over trees, & digging holes. We get in trouble for digging little ones but M & D thought these guys were GOOD! Don't understand hoomans sometimes.
More holes & they buried big long things. Are their holes better than ours?? After they left we got to go sniff & check it all out. That was good.
This is M's Bonsai tree. It grew like this when it was all covered by a bunch of trees. M saved it cuz it was unique. Said it was a survivor.....
Mom here... Thanks for continuing to vote for PUP. We are back up in 5th place. We had dropped to 7th. WE have until Aug. 22.
We will be visiting you all now that we are back. Ernie, Sasha, Chica

Teddy Bears????!

Hey Everybuddy, It's me Ernie. We're back. We went to the country for a few days. This post is pretty much picture free. M forgot to charge the battery in the camera & forgot to bring the charger. So all the fun we had, the holes we dug, the critters we chased was all for nothing. M & D couldn't even get a pic of the Bald Eagle they saw. We heard them saying how beautiful & big it was & how it circled looking for food. M figures those pics are stored in memories. Not sure how well that works. Sasha stayed home with Grandma to keep her company. The 3 Mexicans & I got to go. Their first time at the cabin. They seemed to like it, but always had to be on a leash because of wild critters & such. Barking of wild critters...... We didn't see them but we think we smelled them. A hooman came to the cabin & showed pics of what they saw many times. They sent M pics. They saw bears - a black bear, a brown bear, and a Mama or Sow with 3 cubs or babies. Sounded like they were just outside our fence. Never did see them but just the same our hoomans started watching us even closer that usual. The bears didn't seem afraid of anything - just ambled along checking out ant hills & eating the larvae. Some other friends of M & D's also saw bears down by the creek & climbing over a fence.
Mom here. The bears looked to be about 150 - 200 pounds. Not something I would like to see too up close or personal. We are going up again & believe me I won't make the same mistake of not being able to charge the camera battery & take pics. Ernie had dug a hole that he could get in up to his shoulders. Chica went it to check it out & the hole was much bigger than she was.
Thank you everyone for voting for PUP in the Shelter Challenge. We were really gaining ground then for some reason groups started passing us up. We went from over 6% to just a bit over 3%. You have all helped a bunch & we appreciate all voting you do. We are not giving up but the top group in WA has over 17% of the vote. Still trying!!!! Thanks!!!
